My tab S7 is still rocking awesomely. It's still fast and it just does its job so well. It's honestly the best tablet that I've purchased. Gaming on it is so much fun, drawing is really interesting, and watching media is just great.
Honestly, I still have it it's decent, but not the tablet I'd recommend. It is much better than these Chinese flagship tablets, but it's done with major updates, even though we have security update, it's not gonna give u the same level of security as android 14 would considering they would prioritize recent android version and considering tab s8 has 3 more android updates and 4 years security and doesn't cost drastically more than a tab s7 I'd say get the tab s8 which will only get cheaper during the holiday seasons.
The S8's processor is 2 generations ahead, so is a meaningful upgrade over the S7. That said, not sure how many people would appreciate or take advantage of the performance boost. I game/emulate on my S7 and also have a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 based phone. There are very few limited use cases where the added power is necessary or noticeable. Android games are aiming at the lowest common denominator and 99% of games the 865+ can max out just as well as the 8 gen 1 can. With productivity apps that I personally use that take advantage of the power, like Lightroom and Photoshop express, I can't say I notice a real difference either. If you are pushing the limits what's possible on an android tablet (emulating switch or video editing) that might mean you notice a big difference but personally I don't think going from a 865+ to a 8 gen 1 is enough to justify the price difference.
As one that for a time had both, near no one will notice. Only people that will are those that use the tablet as a desktop with multitasking or do high load tasks. General day to day use will not see any advantage on the S8 line over the S7.
I bought this on the Samsung website last year, 512gb, for $450, plus $100 for keyboard case. I love this thing, colors are so vivid that they pop, has a very premium feel to it. One of the best investments I have made in tech.
I bought a 2nd hand tab s7 thanks to your previous reviews! It was in pristine condition, no scratches whatsoever! The battery life definitely holds lesser charge but its not significant enough to affect my usage! At most I switch of my WiFi when not using overnight to save battery! Thank you so much for your reviews!
in my country when the samsung tab s7 plus was launched it costed around 1024 dollars but now it is selling for 573 dollars brand new and also goes way lower than that in sales,,, what actual affect will the android updates do on the tab can u like elaborate the cons of not having the latest android versions?
Great vid as always @IvanKam11 ! You were comparing this video a lot with the S8... I'm looking at buying the Tab S7 used instead of the Tab S6 Lite new (which you very rightly hype) They're both around the same price where I am. I'd be using it mainly for note-taking and games once a while. What do you guys think?
Been watching your channel to buy a Tab. Decided to buy a refurbished TabS7 for $386. I'm using it mostly as a college student so I'm excited to save some money and get a good experience. Thanks a lot!
@joeyallard Well, samsung extended their lifespan, and who know the tab s9 might get an extension again to 5 android update but 4 is pretty good to, I wouldn't discourage you from buying a galaxy tab I just don't recommend the s7 series s
So a S9 5G costs $1200 in my county, while I found a used S7 5G for $600. Wondering if I should just save money since I only use it for reading novels and manga.
I got the s7 normal one for 150$ second hand tablet is great esthetically but i think its one of the earlier units as the battery in cpu z is 70% despite that , with constant use meaning school notes drawing TH-cam its lasting the whole day , i just picked it up went no overnight charging 1 and a half 2 day battery i am thinking about replacing it but rn the battery is incredible despite losing 30% of its capacity
Most people use tablet to watch videos and you tube. Most tablets can do that with no issues. But for this tab s7 it is good and does everything needed.
As much as I like the S7 I'd have to recommend against it these days. It's done getting major OS updates and will likely be done with security updates this year. So in reality you will have a secure tablet for a year, then it would be best to trade up. It's a shame as it's more than powerful enough and if Samsung kept it updated would likely be fine for another 4-5 years. It's one of the things I hate about ARM based computers. You can't just install any OS on it you want. It has to be specially built for that machine. Unlike X86/64 systems that can have any generic OS installed. I say that as a strong supporter of ARM systems too and a owner of several including a Pi4/8gb.
Yea, this was super disappointing as an S7 user. Had it since the start and it still feels great. Feel like it has 2-3 years left but now i'm worried about the software updates and longevity.
@@Vapour85 I moved to the S8 but only for the larger screen in the Ultra. I plan on staying with the S8 for as long as is wise from a security point of view. I just don't see needing more power than this for many years to come. I mean I already run it in dual screen mode streaming video on one monitor and playing games on the other with no problems and the S8 really is not much more powerful than the S7 was. Even the S6 is still mostly good enough, though for some applications it's getting a bit slow and I'd not want to do multi monitor work with it.
what do you mean by u will only have a secure tablet for a year? what happens after if i use it? i am getting s7+ for 550 usd and s8+ for 750 usd in my country, i am leaning towards the s7+ since they are almost same other then the updates which i am not sure about. (going for the plus because i need a oled screen and more room for writing notes)
@johnrodes4859 Well, $200 is a very marginal gap, and the difference from tab s7 series to s8 series in update is significant, maybe if it was 1 gen ahead with 1 more android update over the tab s7 I'd say their is some though in Saving cost. The tab s8 series is actually 2 generations head and its getting 3 more android updates over the tab s7 that a significant amount, I still have a tab s7+ but I'd recommend against it as decent as it still is, what is $200 a months, $5 per month for 2 years and when you think of that your getting much more 3 more os update and a tablet that is 2 generations ahead, what he meant by 1 more year is, it has gotten 3 android update and its set to get 4 years of security update meaning that we are almost completing that 4 year cycle the tablet came out in 2020. Between the tab s8 series and s9 series I'd say save money get the tab s8 series, honestly if the difference is under $300 jumping to the next gen is usually a better value and considering the tab s8 is 2 gen ahead with 3 more os update makes that a no brainer. Don't get the tab s7+ unless you could find it under $300 and your that tight on budget because it will destroy any modern Chinese flagship tablet or samsungs mid range tablet
@anjola173 for casual use. I could recommend 2017 models, but if you're gonna keep it for another 4-5 years or as long as possible, I wouldn't recommend tab s7 series and android 14 will be the last update for the tab s7 fe since that thing launched in 2021 with Android 11
I'd say get a renewed tab s8 plus instead for around $400 it's 2 gen ahead of the tab s7+ and it's getting 3 more android updates while the tab s7 series is at its end of lifespan, I still have a tab s7+ and as great of a tablet it is, I go as far as saying it's better than any Chinese flagship tablet or any mid range offered from samsung tab, I still wouldn't recommend it it's not getting any more updates and even though it's only getting 1 more year of security update which isn't anywhere the security of a modern version because obviously they will prioritize the current version over an older version, maybe if the tab s8 series was just getting 1 more android upgrade I'd say ya save money difference isn't signficant but 3 years of android update and 4 years of security update over the predecessor is very significant.
I'd go for the iPad at this point of time if I were you, the software support for S7+ ends this year while the Ipad may get another 2-3 years of updates
I thought this is samsung galaxy tab s7 plus, and I was wondering how in the hell you can hold it in just one hand 😂 At first, I thought you just have a really big hands lol
If your very tight on budget and could find tab s7 fe for $100 get that your still getting android 14 since that hasn't completed 3 years if android update yet and for that price not gonna lie its an insane tablet but if it's costing around $300 I'd say spend the extra $100 and get the tab s8

Still loving my Tab S7 which I bought gently used from Swappa for less than $400.
