Thanks for comparing apples to apples. If you want/need a 12 inch screen and haven’t already purchased the S7 model then go for the newest one. The longer support and security/os updates will make it worthwhile. If you already have the 12.4 S7 it might not be necessary to get the newest one. As always Ivan you did a great job, keep it up.

Going from Tab S6 to S7 Plus was a meaningful upgrade.
Going from the S7 Plus to the S8 Plus is not a meaningful upgrade.
Well if you want to take advantage of 4 yrs of OS updates (up to android 16) and 5 yrs security updates then buy tab s8+. S7+ will no longer get updates after Android 12.

@@noneofyourbusiness6100 when tab s7 was release, the default os was android 10. They only have 3 yrs of OS update, that means up to android 13 only. I was off a little bit but still tab s8 will get up to android 16 which in my opinion a better pick. If you can trade your s7 to a store, s8 is a bargain.
@@teachmehowtodoge1737 probably better to wait until next year for a slightly lower trade in but a potentially more substantial upgrade. I upgraded from the Tab S4 so it was a big upgrade for me.
I just want to point out a pretty major mistake Ivan made and that is that the Tab S7's actually only have one OS update left. They launched on Android 10, and have now been updated to Android 12. For that alone, I think it's worth spending the extra money for the Tab S8's. You have 4 OS updates with the S8's vs 1 for the S7's. That's a significant difference.
That's worth taking into consideration, but the way I see it, I'm going to miss only one major OS update before the Tab S9 series comes out, and I should still be getting security updates during that year.
Even with the incredible pre-order deal, it just wasn't worth it to me.
If I did a lot of video conferencing, then maybe.

@@tofu_golem The Tab S7 line will get the Android 13 update, so that takes us up to the presumed time of the Tab S9 series release, and they will get security updates that will take them to the Tab S10 series release, assuming they stick to that naming, and the current time of release. I have the Tab S7+, fwiw.

Really appreciate your good, honest opinion. I think another feature of the S8 Plus is that the front camera follows you on slight movements e.g. in the kitchen. I still agree that S7 plus is a great value tablet and definitely better than the iPad!

Regarding latency, i recognize the difference between the s7+ and s8+ are noticeable in the notes app, but what about a heavier, less optimised app? For artists, what about krita? Is it still noticeably faster? Does it change at all?

Can you please test if, in landscape, you notice any horizontal effects in the image quality when you tilt the tablet back and forward?
On my S8+ I notice a screen "wave" effect. Is this common in AMOLED displays? Can it be a defect in the glass of my screen?
I notice it more in still image situations like in Chrome and on the "desktop" page of the table.

I found that the S7plus right now is several dollars cheaper than the latter S8, which made me consider buying soon. However, this is the last year that Samsung is gonna be pushing some software updates...

I took that deal too! Got $600 for trade in and got to keep the free keyboard case from the 7+ , the stylus as well. Got the new keyboard case free with the 8+ but really want a backlit keyboard case that has protection for the corners!

I was looking for a tablet just to watch movies while in bed. What I wanted was a 2k HDR OLED one. I recently bought a ipad pro M1 variant but its display is bad when viewing high contrast contents and has some kind of glow around it. S7 plus for sure ...trust me they are the same thing and Android update is good for like 4 to 5 years before you see some outdated performance

I bought the tab S8 plus and will keep it for at least four years.
Last OS update for S7+ was May of 2023, but I still bought one in November 2023 (VERY discounted, yes). The screen is the same. I don't need an upgraded processor or better pen latency for watching media, and it still gets me into the Samsung Notes app and precision pen to see if I need that in my next tablet. It should* get 2 more years of security updates, so if I still love it then I can get a S9+ or S10+ (S11+???) at that time. [* to my understanding]
I need a big favor please. There is a transparent case for the Samsung tab S8 ultra case in Amazon and eBay. I want to know how good it is and will it work with the keyboard case back? The idea is using the case for protection and sticking the back to use the kickstand. Will the magnet work or not.
I also was having same confusion anyways I have ordered will tell you if it works i am expecting my tablet in 4 days also the book cover and the case and tempered are already with me.

The keyboard cover tab s7+ plus fit with tab s8+ , including the spen cover. So you dont have to worry if the spen couldnt fit in the back cover, because both have the same size. The keyboard works on tab s8+ as well.

Hey, I just want to ask which would you recommend the s8+ or s7+? I will be using it for my schoolworks and the likes. As I find bringing laptop to school to b a hassel and heavy... and it will be my first tab. So it was a little hard to decide between the 2. Since I find the spen a add bonus unlike in the apple. (I just cross off the ipad pro and air of apple since it was a bit expensive and the acessories was sold seperately.)

Dude! Are you sure you're having the plus versions there? The way you're holding them.. you must either have HUGE hands, or you're actually showing the S7 and S8 non-plus versions. The one in the shot starting around 6:32 is definitely a S7 or S8 looking by the size of it, and the keyboard of the plus version has a different layout.
Hello i am student need a tablet for notes and media consumption and i will take it for longtime uses. I don’t play games and editing like stuff.I am getting the tab s7 plus for 530$ now should i buy this one over s8plus for 900$
I currently have a tab 10.1A (2019) almost 4yrs. I just use it for streaming, research & trading. I don't play video games or drawing. Don't get much updates, still good, no noticeable lag. I know the s7 plus has only 2more yrs of updates until 2024, while the s8 plus will get updates until 2026. Do i really need s8 plus which costs over $350 more than the s7 plus???
I just need tab for watching Netflix 👀. U can suggest me any 10 inch tab with super Amoled screen .

I've read that the s7+ had a green tinge for some users, that Samsung got a lot of complaints...hopefully that got corrected
Nope...I have S8+ and there's a slight green tint but isn't that noticeable at viewing distance except certain angles when the background is grey colored

Honestly, unless you have a lot of money or make money from your tablet, a Tab S7 or S7+ is more than enough.
The day when Samsung will make a tablet with a brightness of at least 700 to 800 nits, a less reflective screen with a processor like Snapdragon 8 CX Gen 3 then maybe it will become interesting to drop his Tab S7.
They really do need to have the antiglare coating apple uses on the iPad pro's

Only for the tab s8 ultra... it has a lighted keyboard. The s8 and s8+ share the same size keyboard as the s7 and s7+ respectively. No change there.

I will choose S8 or S7+. I've seen many video compare notes taking on Samsung galaxy tab and Ipad, and samsung galaxy tab make me more impressed. Many people said that S-pen is better than Apple pencil in notes taking.
I bought the ultra cause that's the only real change from last gen which I liked alot. I love the ultra version.
Hey James any qualitative difference from the 7+. I want to get one. I don't think I need the s8+ given ive been using tge 2019 tab. A10 for the past 3yrs for research, stock trading & the usual streaming TH-cam, netflix, prime, hulu. I don't play games at all. Do i really need an s8+ or a 7+ will do? I bought a Tab S6 last year. I found it open box at Brandsmart for less than $400, and it has been an amazing purchase. I originally wanted the Tab S7, but it was a bit too expensive for me at the time.
I've been debating if I should upgrade to the Tab S7+ for the bigger screen, refresh rate, and processor, mainly because I play a lot of Genshin Impact, and can't help but notice that my S6 doesn't do too well with it. What are your thoughts? Should I go from S6 to the S7+, or S8/S8+?

Sorry, but I expected much a much more detailed comparison as I do like your channel, but you did not really say anything I did not know besides the obvious: slightly better processor, improved latency (most people cannot tell the difference) and better cameras. I have the Tab S7 Plus and I, honestly, am not a stickler for updates. I still have a Note 3, Note 8 and would have the Notes 5 and 9 if they were not lilterally stolen. My current, main phone is the Note 20 Ultra (yes, I am one of the Note fans that helped pushed Samsung to resurrect the lineup). I thought about upgrading to the S8 Ultra, but 12.4 is the perfect screen size although the Ultra would be perfect for education. I mainly want to see the differences in processor or anything else, and I have yet to see a comparison that is detailed between the S7 Plus and the S8 Plus or the S8 Ultra. My mom asked me if I think she should buy the S7 Plus and right now, I am thinking to tell her to buy either the S8 Plus of the Ultra, but if you can get the S7 Plus for cheaper than the S8 Plus, Why wouldn't you? The S8 Plus is $1,499 and the S7 Plus is $949 on Amazon. I am glad I got mine when I did becasue it was only $729 for the 256gb model. I still feel like the S7 Plus is a beast of a tablet!

The 10 inch S8 not having a SAMOLED display is a criminal punishment of loyal samsung users. I have been saying this for 3 years......I don't need a bulky 12 inch +. My use is for a more portable 8 inch or at most a 10 inch form factor.....It is absolutely criminal that no one not just samsung is willing to provide a version with SAMOLED screen at that screen size, even at a higher price for the better screen. This is especially puzzling since Samsung does provide incredible OLED displays for the M series phones which are around 6 inches. It is crazy.....and the only reason I won't buy an Android tab. The big screen is a big part for a buying a tan and if that ain't good what's the point. Plus if it is too big and just lies around unused Ima feel much worse about wasting that kind of money and never using it. I don't know if this will be addressed any time soon..... It's been 3 years + waiting.
I'm normally not too concerned about such slight difference but the difference between a TFT and a OLED is very noticeable..esp in the blacks. And these are expensive devices. Samsung just pushing people to buy the more expensive devices and not giving them more choice in size and displays... don't understand it.

From benchmarks, the GPU is twice as powerful, but I don't think very many games are able to use that much graphics power on the Android platform.
If I used Dex, the +2 GB of RAM would be worth it.
There's one major revision left, but that means only 1 year without a major firmware update before the Tab S9 series comes out, and I figure we will still be getting security updates.
Had heard that the S8 plus or any of the S8 chip assochip So C what what a Hollywood that they are under clocked so I'm using voice to text it might not be that great so great so it's barely better than the S7 and the S7 plus that's pretty disappointing but it is poisoning but SM and S7 plus are already pretty good what in the h*** this thing is weird
