She requested that I play the song on the piano at her funeral. Her health slowly started to deteriorate, and she died in February of 2020... I asked my mom to play the song on her phone as my grandmother left. Almost immediately, a wave a calm and peace fell upon her. I did as she requested, I played "Leaves From the Vine" as well as "Avatar's Love". I look towards the people in the pews of the church, and almost every single one of them was either crying, or teary eyed. Rest in Peace Grandma... wait for me so we can watch the finale together in heaven.

One of my favorite aspects of the show that I do not think gets enough credit, is the music. It always seems to capture the emotion and tone of the moment perfectly and the range the music used in the show is nothing short of spectacular. From soft, melancholy, and somber pieces all the way to epic, grand, and uplifting compositions, this show truly has it all in terms of music.
legit armyranger You’re right. The ost is amazing and I think that is partly why is under appreciated. Adding to that, much of the music is more atmospheric and there are only a few musical motifs used consistently throughout the show. The show mainly relies on development of these short musical ideas in a variety of context rather than developing a singular lyrical melody. That’s partly why “Secret Tunnel” and “Leave from the vine” are so memorable; they are some of the few longer lyrical songs we get from the ost. Also the ost does the job of fitting action in the scene while not distracting from it, to well. Kind of like how nobody should notice good vfx, atmospheric music should add to the scene not distract from it.

Avatars Love is the most nostalgic one for me since it was the first time I had seen such beautiful art (The air temple and it’s landscape) accompanied by such a calming melody.

The Tale of Iroh episode hits different when you find out that Mao Iwamatsu (Iroh’s voice actor) was legit trying not to cry at the end after learning that he’d been diagnosed with esophageal cancer, and the picture of Liu Ten was actually based off of photos of Mako when he was younger. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m gonna go crawl into a hole and cry my eyes out.
This was amazing! Most piano medleys on TH-cam are too ostentatious and lack the nuance to make each song feel separate, but you wrote this like Zuko's blades: each part able to strike different place and emotions while still being part of a matching set.
I never watched or read anything about the Last Airbender and I am absolutely loving this medley, it's beautiful and full of emotions. Another great medley from the Piano Man himself.
The execution is nothing short of stunning. I can hear all those crazy traditional instruments come out through your playing. I don't remember any piano in the original soundtrack (but I could be wrong). I've been rewatching the series on Netflix with my daughter and it's bringing back all kinds of memories from when I was younger. Your renditions definitely have me in my feels. You, sir, are amazing at what you do! It's going to take some serious water bending to hold back all the watery eyes!
I really appreciate that you included some themes not commonly seen in ATLA medlies. This is the first medley I've heard that incorporates Ba Sing Se's theme (which is an incredible leitmotif in context of the show). And I don't think I've heard many, if any at all, incorporate Iroh's Speech, which is odd to me considering it's an incredible piece of music, albeit a relatively short one.
the final blow/ avatar state SLAPS! i’m a huge fan of the deep part in compositions overpowering the melody. it’s probably the best reason i can give for my love of the mandalorian theme
This is awesome. A ton of people I've seen that use the rumbling-esque technique in the left hand have a problem with it becoming muddy and disconnected from the melody (by people, I mean me), but yours are metered so well, and mesh with the piece in such a natural way. Love this medley!
Great stuff, would rather listen to this than watch the movie haha. My favorite part was the Avatar’s Love and then the finale. Was hoping for Agni Kai to be honest! Thought about doing that a couple times, not sure how that would’ve sounded on piano. Keep it up!
the transition to leaves from the vine LITERALLY gave me chills!!!! and the music during the destiny and Iroh's speech thing is literally my favorite musical moment of the whole show and this literally did all of it justice! beautiful!!!!!

Iroh is by far the best character in the whole series and I loved him throughout the whole series (and I binged watched the whole series in 3 days) and he’s speech music and avatars love is the best melodys you’ve done in a while man right next to the Zelda medleys

Avatar state theme will always give me chills and the honestly best use of it is the end of Korra season 1, the reluctance to use any OG avatar music in the season was risky because you could alienate your base who loves the music but it was masterfully done to create this huge rush of nostalgia when they play the them in Korras music style to just punch it home every single time.
Avatar is one of the best shows ever. I have watched it so many times and love it so much. It is just amazing and can't even express my feeling about it.

I feel the exact same way. They played the Dai Li Theme in the most perfect places within the show, and it created great suspense.
Can I just say how great this is? Especially from a show where the background music isn’t as prominent, this really showcased all of that.

This is awesome. A ton of people I've seen that use the rumbling-esque technique in the left hand have a problem with it becoming muddy and disconnected from the melody (by people, I mean me), but yours are metered so well, and mesh with the piece in such a natural way. Love this medley!
Thx. That rumble technique is called a tremelo and they are tricky!

Great stuff, would rather listen to this than watch the movie haha. My favorite part was the Avatar’s Love and then the finale. Was hoping for Agni Kai to be honest! Thought about doing that a couple times, not sure how that would’ve sounded on piano. Keep it up!

the transition to leaves from the vine LITERALLY gave me chills!!!! and the music during the destiny and Iroh's speech thing is literally my favorite musical moment of the whole show and this literally did all of it justice! beautiful!!!!!

I am an adult and love avatar the last airbender. I often feel ashamed for it and childish, because people around me make fun of me for it. Amazing video by the way!
Iroh is by far the best character in the whole series and I loved him throughout the whole series (and I binged watched the whole series in 3 days) and he’s speech music and avatars love is the best melodys you’ve done in a while man right next to the Zelda medleys

Among all those intense, epic and sad themes there's the peaceful and cute one. I really love "Avatar's Love".
Avatar state theme will always give me chills and the honestly best use of it is the end of Korra season 1, the reluctance to use any OG avatar music in the season was risky because you could alienate your base who loves the music but it was masterfully done to create this huge rush of nostalgia when they play the them in Korras music style to just punch it home every single time.
