Piano Version by Patrik Pietschmann
When I released my piano version of James Horner's "Avatar" Soundtrack about two years ago, I didn't know of any other "Avatar" at that time. So I was surprised when I read in the comments that some of you expected a different "Avatar" soundtrack. Since then I was often asked if I could do "Avatar: The Last Airbender". I hesitated for a long time, because I haven't seen the series yet and there is no officially released soundtrack, just a few uploads on TH-cam in bad quality. Also the original tracks are very short. Thanks to the remakes by Samuel Kim I could do more with the soundtrack. So I gave it a try. This piano version concentrates on the Avatar theme, but also includes musical elements from other tracks. I hope you like it!

This man played the main theme, then combined Avatar’s Love with Leaves from the Vine, then The Avatar State, then the Agni kai theme, then The Avatar State (slightly different), and wrapped it up with the Leaves From the Vine opening. This truly made my eyes waterbend.

@@lilywang57 I am seriously not the person to ask for that. I am pretty amusical, actually. But, to me, they sound pretty much the same. I think that they might be played on different instruments ("The Avatar's Love" seems crisper and lighter to me; their color is different), the background melody or whatever might be different, and their durations are different.
@@lilywang57 So, technically both of those songs contain the same motif, and the motif is what’s present in this arrangement. It’s a hard one to nail down, especially because it’s mostly used at the beginning of the series, when the composers weren’t completely sure what motifs they wanted to represent what, but it can best be described as the leitmotif for Aang’s innocence or childlike side. I just call it Aang’s motif, it seems most fitting to me.
As to why everyone calls it the Avatar’s Love: Avatar’s Love is probably the most famous song from the soundtrack, and is the place we hear that motif most clearly and recognizably. The only other place it’s present on the publicly released soundtrack is in Safe, which is super short and hard to figure out where it’s actually from, so it gets almost completely ignored.
Interesting tidbit of information, “The Avatars Love” is actually a better description for a different part of the song that uses different motifs. After Aang’s theme plays we get a small motif that was played in the episode “The Cave Of Two Lovers” (and a couple other places) which represents love, specifically Aang and Katara’s relationship. That love motif is then followed by the part of the song that should actually be called The Avatar’s Love, a short statement that was also played when Aang and Katara kissed at the invasion. So really, most of the fandom is wrong in calling Aang’s motif “The Avatar’s Love,” but it’s understandable why they would do so.

This show wasn't just a kids show.
It had so much life lessons such as love, passion, confidence, hardwork and etc in it.
It also tackled themes that would be considered more adult, like war, child abuse, and the moral gray area around killing.

I'm so happy that I have late-discovered it now, through my friends pointing me towards it. We are currently playing a pen&paper in the Avatar universe. It plays after the big war, in which the southern water tribe was absolutely destroyed.
I am Taborak, initially a water bender and hunter grown up in the east of the Southern Water Tribe. As of my heritage, harmony with nature is very important to me. When my village was destroyed, and my parents killed, my brother and I joined the rebellion forces. Ultimately we lost, because my brother betrayed us. In my despair, I fled into the Earth Kingdom. There, a bit south of Ba Sing Se, our group met and our adventures began. My allies are: Xenius, a technician with distant royal heritage from the Fire Nation. Silvia, a water bender from the Northern Water Tribe. Irori, a fire bender from the Fire Nation, and former maid in the royal palace. Of course ingame, we don't know all these details of each other yet.
This pen&paper is highly focused on immersing yourself in the world and finding your balance. For example I am of the class "Icon", meaning I am an icon of my heritage, I represent my culture. My opposites are Role and Freedom. Right now, my balance is more shifted towards Freedom, due to the actions I chose to do. My allies can help me, through actions or convincing me of an important point, to find my balance again. But ultimately everything can shift the balance of a player.
It's very fun. Our Game Master says, that in principle, everything can happen. For example, we've prevented a civil war in our first chapter. It could've also happened, that we'd have a war in the Earth Kingdom, if we hadn't succeeded.
Avatar is a universe that almost anyone can get into. It provides a solid structure that is much fun, but it's open to wherever you want to go with it.

As if it weren't sad enough, this episode was the last episode the original voice actor for Iroh did before he died. The scene was a tribute to Irohs son but also to Mako, the original voice actor.

Funny how a series made for kids can touch the hearts of so many people who are no longer children. This is probably my favorite non-live-action show of all time, and I know that the lessons learned from it have made me a better person.
Avatar: The last airbender is still one of the best animated series of all time.
The story line includes so many important topics like racism and genocide. I grew up with his show and I’m still watching it from time to time, it will always have a special place in my heart

I'd like to thank you, Patrik, for making this arrangement. I listened to it while mowing the lawn a couple years ago, and it reignited my love of Avatar's music, leading me to search out more covers and find the original soundtrack again. And that led to me rewatching the series and falling in love with it all over again. It all started with this exact piano arrangement.

All I can say is wow! I have seen the show since I was 10 and I'm a huge fan. I am currently re-watching the show for like to 7th time I think, and you just gave me chills. You captured the songs so well, and I love the ending with Leaves From The Vine, which almost gave me tears. Perfect!
