Kind of reminds me of a story from my family: My great-grandfather once saw two daughters sharing the piano, playing a piece for four hands. To which he said something along the lines of: "there will be no money spared in my house!" and proceeded to buy a second piano. I half wish I was joking. ^^;
safe to say zelda has one of, if not the BEST soundtrack in all of gaming history Edit: I gotta hand it to you guys, you sure know some damn good sound tracks haha
When you play this game as an adult and realize you've lost all the imagination you had as a kid. You feel stuck in the physical bounderies of the game whereas when you were a child there were no bounderies, it just felt limitless. You were so engaged into the story, and immersed by your surroundings that every area you explored had its own smell. I really miss that.
it's not gone man. or it doesn't have to be. i haven't played a zelda game since oot, but botw was very soothing for me. it definitely was missing the banger OST that other titles had, but it's not gone. nostalgia is great for a bit, but don't get jaded! you got this. even if it's not videogames anymore, there's still things in life to get lost in just as much. just try not to miss the opportunity to enjoy them in the moment.
One day, a madman, blessed with a powerful magic overheard a sincere wish. He could not fully grant it, but he could not let it be either. So he determined to ask "would you like to re-ignite it?" As for the rest of the story, that is up to you. He hoped they would hear him, but did they ever respond? Only time will tell.
Why am I crying?! I didn’t grow up with Ocarina, it’s not like I’ll never be able to play it again, why does it have this overwhelming feeling of finiteness and shit?!
@Lucas Tremblay i turns out my dad gave it away to his friend last year and he never gave it back so i cant rember what it looks like have u played wind waker on the gamecube that was the first zeldagame i played its super fun even tho hd added better features
@Lucas Tremblay you should i may of only really liked it beauce i was colourfull and cute and i was younger but i still play it today even tho botw and sky ward sword are my main games i still thinks its worth putting money into getting
It’s all of our shared childhoods. I remember OTT more than I remember the vast majority of vacations. “Video games aren’t real”, but what does “real” even mean? I had a real, meaningful, formative experience with Zelda.
@@FigmentHF video games are interactive stories. Just like any good book, they are as real as the audience makes it. My first time playing(I was 8) I felt so bad for saying no to listening to the Deku tree before he died, that I reset my game and played through it again just to say yes. Its okay to have very real feelings, for very fictional characters.
Does anyone else get that nostalgic feeling, where they see or hear something and they get that weird feeling in their throat and you suddenly want to cry but you don’t. This brings me back to when I was very young. I miss my childhood 😭😭. I want to learn this in piano now
A lot of us musicians grew up playing video games & Koji Kondo's music made them so damn immersive (mario, zelda in particular) & parents made us take piano lessons, learning these songs was way better than the same old classical standards that have been done to death We have him to thank, amazing compositions with a simple midi keyboard..song of healing is so haunting If people do not think video games are art- show them this vid. They are interactive art
@@stevejeffrey11 I couldn't agree more! They incorporate so many mediums: visual art, music, literature and storytelling, cinematography, and a few that are specific to the genre
@@FidgetTheMidget8P i used to be really hard on my brother, friends & especially myself on sinking so many hours into video games, but have recently realized that they are interactive art in motion you control with your body which is why they can be so addictive (plus they light up your dopamine receptor reward centers easily bla bla etc) Also video games & movies transmit the stories older civilizations used to tell around the fire or pass down in culture, a reluctant hero takes up arms against evil & slays the dragon to claim metaphorical gold & union with the female- one of the oldest stories of all time that delves into archetypes & the psyche Still get chills listening to the opening to ocarina of time, haven't grown tired of it in 20+ years, the emotional nostalgic factor is incredible strong since playing them during childhood forges that bond
2:13 That rendition of The Great Fairy Fountain is the best I’ve ever heard. The amount of feeling you can convey while playing is incredible. Literally brought a tear to my eye. Beautiful
This music speaks to the souls of us that this game has enchanted. Even though most people can't see past it just being a video game. For us it ment a lot more when we all first went through that legendary adventure.
I don't think no game will ever give the same feeling this game had to offer. Truly a life changer. If I have kids I will make them play this game and have them live the same experiences!!
I feel the same way. And i just have to say zelda in general is just such a great story even today since the story is all connected. I just got a switch and booted up breath of the wild what an amazing adventure the first thing i seen. Was a broken down building called the temple of time. Old and broken down but as i step inside i still hear the original temple of time music from oot. It was like my child hood flashing before me by a single digital building. Crazy how we connect to games on this scale.
I have been listening to this for at least 3 years now off and on, this is the most skillful piece of artwork I’ve ever seen and heard. Truly one of the most talented individuals to ever touch a piano.
Erik C 'Piano Man' how much time did you put in memorizing all of it though, cuz it’s taking me almost 2 weeks just to master Bach’s minuet in G, lol.. (literally brand new piano player btw)
OOT was a huge part of my childhood. So many hours spent listening to this very music in it's N64 glory. Actually brought tears to my eyes listening to the music in such a great arrangement. Thank you.
I've never played ocarina of time. Only breath of the wild. This soundtrack is still so nostalgic for some reason and I cry everytime I listen to it. This video comforts me so much, since I'm going through a dark time. Thank you.
I don't ever comment on anything, but this was amazing. The arrangement itself is ridiculously impressive alone, but coupled with your seamless transitions, it's just a great piece of music here.
Lon Lon Ranch, Kakariko and the Gerudo Valley themes are probably the three most nostalgic themes ever for me. I played this game sooooooo much... For years... Got this game in 98 when I was 12... I still play it today at 38. Played it all weekend...
The nostalgia of this makes me a bit sad because I miss how simple life was when I first played Ocarina of Time. This also gives me hope for the future because of what OoT taught me, Courage in the face of all trials we are presented with. OoT will forever be deeply ingrained in who I am and this beautiful music will always remain in my heart and mind.
Agreed, this one hit me hard. Simpler times of playing N64 with my brothers. Sprinting in the door from school to boot up this game. I think part of the magic is that I haven't played the game since those times, and I think it's best to keep it that way.
@@capblueberry sounds about the same as my nostalgia. the thing is that OoT is timeless. if you change your mind on playing it again and have a computer you can download the n64 emulator Project64 and the OoT rom at Vimm.net. its because of vimm that i can play every zelda game with the exception of breath of the wild but only cause i have a sub par comp.
Here's an extended version of my Zelda Oot Medley. This one took a lot of practice and is now the longest video on the channel. I hope you enjoy! Also, I’m curious how many of you have heard my older version of this medley already? Do you mind these revamped old arrangements recorded in this new perspective? Let me know below.
Your older version of this Medley was already my favorite video on your channel, now surpassed by this one because it's so amazing. Great rendition, Erik! Thank you for all the time and effort you put into these arrangements, I'll never stop enjoying them🤘
I discovered your channel with this medley so hell yeah I do remember it! And this extended version is really excellent, it seems cleaner and with the visuals it's even better. So, yeah I think this "revamping" of your old arrangements is a great thing because not only it adds content but it allows for some people do discover these really cool old arrangements. :)
Every time I hear Lon Lon Ranch, I get the feeling that everything is gonna be ok and it makes me teary eyed. No other song has done that to me. Kondo is a treasure that needs to be protected at all costs.
Same here. When I got to a stable in botw and heard the theme I legitimately had to put the game down and I cried for a bit. The song just exudes peace
I truly wish I could erase this game from my memory just so I can experience it all again for the first time. And then again I dont; true classics live on forever and are timeless
Kieran Modi That’s what kids are for. Yours, or your family, either way, get them this game, and sit with them as they play it. I’m not even a big fan of kids but... well, try it. Thank me later
@@Reblwitoutacause don't force your kids to play your stupid shit, let them play whatever they feel like, unless they start playing fortnite or shit like that
Be happy that you made that experience, there's so much on earth to adventure, you don't even have the lifetime to see everything of it once. Keep the past in your memory but don't look back too much, because you don't want to oversee all those beautiful all around you in present or? Have a nice day!
Since I discovered this medley years ago I have it in my heart, it is that each piece, as one ends, the next begins, it is simply wonderful and epic... thank you
@@TheFiddleFaddle The only reason it was labeled this way is because of the fact that in the N64 version you had to go in and out of the gear menu to switch the iron boots on and off. The boots were needed alot in the temple (obviously) and this was the most tedious thing to deal with. This problem was solved with the 3DS version ofcourse and still the temple received the connotation of being "hard". This even confuses me because the temple in my opinion isnt even hard compared to the other ones in the game and is one of the easier ones.
It’s amazing how music can bring people together. Remind them of times long past. Times that bring back good memories. That is what makes good music. Music that touches people’s hearts. Makes a shiver travel down their spine. And a tear to your eye. This my friend is a masterpiece.
I used to play hours and hours when I was a child and I remember I couldn't get pass the Kokiri forest because I didn't understand what I had to do (I didn't understand english at the time). But I didn't care because I imagined behind the walls there were magical and amazing places to explore, and I tried to go beyond the walls without success. But the day I could get out to Hyrule field, I wasn't disapointed and every town and dungeon was way better that I imagined, and the excitement to fight against a boss and finish the game for the first time, is a feeling I have never felt since..
I've played and seen many versions of Gerudo's valley, but this is the most impressive I've seen. 7:06 inspires me to learn this version. Damn man, kudos!
@@yelizavetakuchumova7055 I dont think you can find the notes for this particular piece he's playing. But for the song itself I think you can find on google
Man… this brought me back to such a happy time in my life. My eyes are welling up listening to Eponas song. I moved around a lot as a kid and for a while that horse was my best friend. Amazing what emotions music can induce that we would have never known were there. Thanks for making and posting this. This Is such a beautiful rendition of these timeless pieces.
There is a heavy mixture of nostalgia for the sounds and respect for the guy doing this. I haven’t touched a piano but I know damn well this is impressive.
@J D I think you underestimate some of the time it takes to master these techniques. I definitely wouldn’t expect an intermediate player to be able to perform this medley, let alone learn it in a day.
The comments section on this video is one of the most emotional on any videos I’ve seen, and like others i shed tears, this is when Zeldas lullaby started, truly an amazing and nostalgic arrangement! Keep up the amazing work, and i need to say that that is the absolute best arrangement of Lon Lon ranch of ever heard, this entire arrangement may even be the best Zelda piano arrangement I’ve heard
What a time to release an OoT medley when the OoT speedrun scene is currently going crazy with all the new glitches that have been found 😂 The whole 9 minutes of this blew my friccin mind, so many virtuosic flourishes and delicate touches here and there 😍
Did anyone else watched the whole thing with tears in their eyes because they miss this game and their childhood ....? No just me K then :,( Dude you’re insane!!!! Thank you for this! ❤️
I'm crying because this was my first ever game that I ever played in my life 5 or 6 years old I have bad anxiety and it boosted because of COVID-19 and this helps a lot thanks for making this
It’s mostly how some of us as a musician pour our soul into a piece we’re playing. I’ve always done it when playing violin and piano. It gives a feel to the music visually.
I’m so sorry about your brother I don’t know what happened to him.My brother died..we connected over old games and stuff like this too. Isn’t it interesting how something can be so sad yet beautiful
seeing this now just made me cry. i can remember playing this every day with my best friend. we’ve been best friends since preschool. hours and hours of playing and having fun together. i’ve bought my 3ds because of him and oot because i loved the game and watched him play and wanted to play with him together. so i bought my 3ds and the following months we didn’t do anything else. now he’s gone and i miss him so much. this remind me of this time so i come back every few weeks and just think of this wonderful time and him. i know nobody’s gonna see this but it’s just for me. fly high my best friend. i‘ll always love&miss you dude.
I found OOT when I was 6, played it with my brother at 10, introduced it to my sister when she was 2. And as I'm commenting, I got my parents to relax while listening to this very medley. So pretty much everyone that I live with knows the game. We listen to the ost and play the game together almost everyday.

I try to be non biased and tell my self that nostalgia makes me overrate this game. But when you get online and see the opinions and passion other hold towards it.......it truly is one of the video game all time greats.
Simply Sage It was before my time but it’s my childhood. Luckily I had some cool older siblings. And hopefully they don’t get played in that order! Haha
dude at first when the great fountain fairy came on (i was looking specifically for a high quality piano rendition of this to hear) i was pissed because it wasnt being played 100% the same as the original, but after a few seconds i just shit myself at those sweeps unbelievable, just amazing.
I started crying as soon as I heard the first note....man what a blast from the past.... Edit: How many people were brought to tears over this performer
Ok older people time for the child perspective. I am on 12 but still have the greatest memories of these games. Obviously for me they are fairly recent memories but I can 100% tell you they will stick with me. I only had Nintendo consoles up until last year. My first ever game was skyward sword which I played through with my dad when I was only 3. Now I held the sword and he held the nunchuck and let him take over for any difficult encounters but it still felt amazing. From then on I worked through, ocarina of time, majoras mask, twilight princess(wii), a link to the past, wind waker(wii u), a link between worlds etc. Until Breath of the wild. I may be a new creature in this world but these games, majority of them older than me, have definitely impacted me and as new releases are well, released I am sure they will continue to do so
I’m in my 20’s and never had a n64 growing up, I’m just discovering my love for these games too in the past few years. Don’t worry kid, these games are incredible no matter when you start 🙂
The developers inadvertently (or maybe on purpose?) created an everlasting love for this game through the music. Every single song brings me back to my early teenage years and makes me want to play again. The greatest game ever made.
At least 6 times a year I always find myself accidentally clicking on piano covers of OOT, and every time I become a babbling baby for the next 30 minutes from they amount of love I have for this game. OOT played such a huge role in my growth as a person and I don't think I will ever be able to lose the love I had for this game and its story.
I literally ended the video crying. this game was part of my childhood, i still remember myself with 7 years in front of the console playing the game. And absolutely I'm a zelda fan since that age. thanks for upload this video, you got my "like" to the video and new subscriber

As an adult that limitless feeling can now be experienced in the real world, and the bounderies of video games can be appreciated :)
it's not gone man. or it doesn't have to be. i haven't played a zelda game since oot, but botw was very soothing for me. it definitely was missing the banger OST that other titles had, but it's not gone. nostalgia is great for a bit, but don't get jaded! you got this.
even if it's not videogames anymore, there's still things in life to get lost in just as much. just try not to miss the opportunity to enjoy them in the moment.
I haven’t played this game in many many many years but I can sense what you’re saying 100%
Fr. When I was a kid I played my dad's already completed save file and i had so much fun with it
One day, a madman, blessed with a powerful magic overheard a sincere wish.
@Knight Templar I really should
i have the gold edition on my game cube sadly i cant give you it

@Lucas Tremblay i turns out my dad gave it away to his friend last year and he never gave it back so i cant rember what it looks like have u played wind waker on the gamecube that was the first zeldagame i played its super fun even tho hd added better features
@Lucas Tremblay you should i may of only really liked it beauce i was colourfull and cute and i was younger but i still play it today even tho botw and sky ward sword are my main games i still thinks its worth putting money into getting
Is it okay to cry
This is literally me and my brother’s childhood.
As a normally soulless person who just finished crying to Minecraft Sweden... Yes. Yes, it is.
It’s all of our shared childhoods. I remember OTT more than I remember the vast majority of vacations.
“Video games aren’t real”, but what does “real” even mean?
I had a real, meaningful, formative experience with Zelda.
@Shashank Saurav until you clear a three heart, no shield, no game over, run, on either the GameCube or OG 64 system, then you can weep.
@@FigmentHF video games are interactive stories. Just like any good book, they are as real as the audience makes it. My first time playing(I was 8) I felt so bad for saying no to listening to the Deku tree before he died, that I reset my game and played through it again just to say yes. Its okay to have very real feelings, for very fictional characters.
same. but he doesn't remember as well as me :/
Does anyone else get that nostalgic feeling, where they see or hear something and they get that weird feeling in their throat and you suddenly want to cry but you don’t. This brings me back to when I was very young. I miss my childhood 😭😭. I want to learn this in piano now
That’s such an accurate description of nostalgia, I love it
I believe the phrase you’re looking for/describing is called getting, “Choked up.”
SFbleacherbum23 Yes!
That was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever heard. I got chills and now I’m gonna go beat ocarina of time again.
I love how this game has inspired a generation of artists and I'm excited to see what happens to future music because of it
A lot of us musicians grew up playing video games & Koji Kondo's music made them so damn immersive (mario, zelda in particular) & parents made us take piano lessons, learning these songs was way better than the same old classical standards that have been done to death
We have him to thank, amazing compositions with a simple midi keyboard..song of healing is so haunting
If people do not think video games are art- show them this vid. They are interactive art
@@stevejeffrey11 I couldn't agree more! They incorporate so many mediums: visual art, music, literature and storytelling, cinematography, and a few that are specific to the genre
applehecc I agree with both of you, these dynamics are what make video games arguably the most immersive form of storytelling.
@@FidgetTheMidget8P i used to be really hard on my brother, friends & especially myself on sinking so many hours into video games, but have recently realized that they are interactive art in motion you control with your body which is why they can be so addictive (plus they light up your dopamine receptor reward centers easily bla bla etc)
Also video games & movies transmit the stories older civilizations used to tell around the fire or pass down in culture, a reluctant hero takes up arms against evil & slays the dragon to claim metaphorical gold & union with the female- one of the oldest stories of all time that delves into archetypes & the psyche
Still get chills listening to the opening to ocarina of time, haven't grown tired of it in 20+ years, the emotional nostalgic factor is incredible strong since playing them during childhood forges that bond

That rendition of The Great Fairy Fountain is the best I’ve ever heard.
It was a spiritual experience for me as a child.
I played through it on a crappy emulator on my phone a few weeks back. Still loved every second and brought back so many memories
I know right
I have been listening to this for at least 3 years now off and on, this is the most skillful piece of artwork I’ve ever seen and heard. Truly one of the most talented individuals to ever touch a piano.

Fr the nostalgia hit hard
Correct, i need to start playing it again...
Damn... This was quite inspirational. Thanks!

Lol
cmon now I beat water temple master quest in 20 minutes
Full disclosure: the water temple never bothered me. I didn't even know water temple hate was a meme until sometime in the past couple of years 😆
@@TheFiddleFaddle The only reason it was labeled this way is because of the fact that in the N64 version you had to go in and out of the gear menu to switch the iron boots on and off.
I loved the water temple!! Why everyone hate it when its not so bad.
