I adopted two teen sisters and in the depths of despair I was praying about how to help them and I was prompted to have family prayer. My girls were 15 and 18 and I was so nervous that my first ever prayer I was shaking and crying. But now we have experienced miracles after miracle and my oldest is being baptized on Saturday. I'm grateful for being able to communicate with my girls through prayer.

Love the concept Bid and turn. I’m going by to concentrate on that in my relationships and also on picturing the Savior calling each of us to come to Him. What beautiful reminders of how He loves and wants each of us to be there when He comes.

Interesting: years ago I heard about the Rice experiment using words, I decided to try it for myself. I added another jar of rice and wrote the word. “Ignore” and left it alone. The hate and the love, rice jars, reacted as expected, but the ignore jar turned the most green and horrible.
It’s amazing what being alone and feeling alone will do

I'm blessed to listen to your podcast it's strengthening my faith day and night. It's hard to live in an area where the church meeting house is 3 hours away. This podcast keeps me moving along the covenant path.

Thank you for bringing up the struggle with kids and recognizing kids are kids. Being there and trying is all he asks and teaching them the importance of going to church. ❤
I was feeling sad I couldn't be as in tune until you guys recognized the struggle, then I felt relief. Thank you!

I just listened to this podcast and it is beautiful. I wanted to share that when my kids were little we had very special books and quiet toys like crayons and stuff that were sacrament based so that while they were taking the sacrament, it was something that pertained. Also, during the sacrament, I look at a picture of Jesus while I’m taking the sacrament and try to remember him and him on the cross and pray to heavenly father and talk about what I’ve done during the week.

This podcast and the messages shared came at the right time in my life. I was having a tremendously hard week (the week of general conference) trying to process things and work through some personal and family trials. I was honestly feeling down and defeated but hearing the words shared this week was a wonderful way to experience and find joy. Love all that was shared of biding, the power and details of prayer, God’s love for the little children and all his children. Having Matt Townstead as the guest speaker was perfect. Hearing all his insights and words of advice through his profession spoke volumes of peace when I needed it.

WOW!! You keep getting more and more amazing presentations. Dr. Matt Townsend taught us some of the most valuable insightful counsel to practice in our interactions with our spouses, children and fellow citizens, and all from 3rd Nephi chapters 17 to 19, directly from Our Savior to us!

Saturday as General Conference began my husband looked at me and pointed out my glowing countenance because I can never contain my excitement about these semi-annual events and the way they bring me home. This morning I was reading a missionary letter and heard for the first time the saying that “Gen. Conference is a missionary’s Christmas” and I totally relate to that. Then, as I listened to your message in these episodes I felt like you were bringing me New Year’s Day! Thank you so much for all the good advice and life you have breathed into these deep and beautiful chapters of our most sacred records of Christ. Fasting has become a frequent habit of mine for loved ones and people in the world who are suffering and I am so grateful for the hope and joy of these wonderful chapters. You have added immensely to this and I hope you are feeling blessed because I definitely am ✨

Just had the opportunity to watch this and once again I am amazed at how it was just what I needed. I believed that I had done all I needed to do for someone I was called to serve with. Now I realize how shallow and self-involved that was. So humbling and so up lifting. No words to describe it adequately. Just, thank you for helping me see a little of what the Savior would have me do. May you have some inkling of the good you are doing.

During the pandemic I 100% grew to love being with my family at home we feasted every Sunday together. My son-inlaw was bishop at that time reminded us to continue to dress Sunday best when one of us turned up in pj's he gave out assignments and conducted the family as church meetings go. We got closer and just loved it I was sad to leave that as we are all in separate wards but how I felt the blessing of loved ones I will remember forever.

"In today’s age of technology and globally embraced AI, focused lessons on human connection need greater emphasis in educational settings to combat desensitized communities and polarization and help humanity progress towards greater empathy and Christ-like love and service." All the best, Veronica

Re: that brotherhood of the priesthood... I once witnessed my teen son looking through the congregation before Sacrament meeting for adult men to fill in among the deacons. He approached a 50ish brother whom I knew to be less active. I held my breath and then watched as my son quietly explained the procedure to this surprised brother who accepted the challenge. It was beautiful.

I love the story of Tanner. Part of it makes my heart hurt. The Young Women need something like that. They need something that gives them a way they can uniquely serve the ward as beautiful as the young men serving the sacrament. I've pondered this question for years, and I don't have an answer. But this story really showed me how much we need something for the young women.

Quite some time had passed between the Savior’s crucifixion and his grand appearance. In fact, Bradley Wilcox in last week’s Follow Him lessons, pointed out that about a year had passed before Jesus appeared, which was a preparatory period for them. So they had time to rebuild their lives and their homes.

First of all, listening to this podcast as I get ready for work in the morning has been my saving grace. I’m not in love with my job but the spirit I get from John and Hank and their weekly guests gives me the strength to press forward. Thank you!
Having said that, I have a sincere question: Dr. Townsend gave a definition from the 1800’s dictionary and I’m wondering what the reasoning is for that? If Joseph Smith translated the plates (and I do believe he did) wouldn’t the definition need to be from the time it was written and not translated? If anyone can help me understand this I’d be so grateful. 😊

Hmmm, I don't agree with the idea of talking to someone else through talking to God. This feels very insincere and a cop-out to me. When you are are talking to God, shouldn't you be talking to God, not someone else? If there are things you can't say to someone but can say NEAR them in a prayer, perhaps it would be better to ask God in your personal prayers to know how to communicate the important things with the other person. Isn't that why we are here?
