This reminds me of an experience I had in the temple. The first time we went back to the temple after my son died, I felt like he was communicating to me these words, “Mom this the closest I can get to you physically is in the temple”. It really is a portal to those that have passed on.”

Brother Baron, thank you for sharing the missionary experience, it resounded with me so I shared it with my family, most loved it but I have a doubting Thomas in my family that responded “I respect your belief in sharing stories like this, but for me, it's important to have some corroborative evidence when discussing these kinds of experiences. It feels like this story might have been kept intentionally vague for faith promotion, which makes it for me to fully engage with. If you’d like to discuss this further, feel free to message me directly, but this is the last I’ll say about it here.” The witness of the Holy Ghost speaks powerfully to me but others say “show me a sign” then I’ll believe, I have had numerous similar incidents though not as dramatic that have made me a believer beginning in childhood and I have a deep trust in His love and concern over me individually, thanks for sharing.

Hi Hank and John, I've heard the comment a few times on the show that through Mosiah and Alma that the people may have lost their "covenant consciousness." I agree they didn't talk about it much, but I think what they are doing rather than talking a lot about the covenant, which Nephi and Jacob did, that they are focused on teaching us how to live the covenant in a variety of circumstances, including personal or group apostasy, personal and group repentance, restoration, and redemption, what to do in war and in peace, and what do do when society is in turmoil. I would suggest they are living out the covenant despite not speaking in covenant terms. My wife and I love your podcast and the things we learn, not just in the podcast but also in what you inspire us to further study on our own. Thank you!!

I am positive that the Nephites didn’t forget or not know that they are of the house of Israel. Lehi and Nephi knew how important getting the brass plates was. And they are reminded constantly to search the scriptures.

The Jews were mistaken about Christ because instead of a warrior who would come destroy their enemies and free them they got a lamb. In our day, we LDS gentiles are expecting a lamb, but instead will get a warrior that will offend us and thereby most will reject the Lord and his true servant. The idea that violence is not coming to the gentiles is ludicrous. So it's only the House of Israel that gets to experience being scattered, smitten, and trodden under foot of the gentiles via mass death and displacement, but when the shoe is on the other foot we gentiles get a slap on the wrist? Crazy. Why on earth are the gentile houses and cities desolate? It's because they are wiped out, just as the Nephites and Jaredites were.

"The Lord Jesus Christ will come again"
    Pres. Nelson
    Footnote #7 for New Jerusalem
    D&C 84
2 Yea, the word of the Lord concerning his church, established in the last days for the restoration of his people, as he has spoken by the mouth of his prophets, and for the gathering of his saints to stand upon Mount Zion, which shall be the city of New Jerusalem.
3 Which city shall be built, beginning at the temple lot, which is appointed by the finger of the Lord, in the western boundaries of the State of Missouri, and dedicated by the hand of Joseph Smith, Jun., and others with whom the Lord was well pleased.
4 Verily this is the word of the Lord, that the city New Jerusalem shall be built by the gathering of the saints, beginning at this place, even the place of the temple, which temple shall be reared in this generation.
This is the Temple that has to be built before the Savior comes to his Saints before He goes to Old Jerusalem or reveals himself in the great and dreadful day. We as Saints have much to do in a very short period of time to prepare for the Savior to be in our midst. Exciting times we live in!

When I do a search on the word "lion" in the Book of Mormon, it always refers to the ability of the lion to kill and destroy. The only excepti is when Isaiah is being quoted, and it explains that the lamb will lay down with the lion. That is to show how amazing the world will be in the Millennium. I don't see how the analogy of the lion in 3 Nephi 20 would not fit this pattern.

Thank you for clarifying that when he says “my people”, Jesus means the Jews. I was so confused that he seemed to be prophesying the Lamanites were going to go to Jerusalem! But I do have one beef with Ross’ contention that all these prophecies just about gathering. He seems to have some “no violence” boundary in place. But there’s no way “tear in pieces” is a metaphor for the gathering. Have you forgotten that Jesus is also bringing destruction to the wicked? If he puts it in the scriptures it must be because he wants us to understand that it’s coming.

Jesus works off the commandments of the Father as He follows that order or protocol He mentions quite often .
The Father watches He knows His vineyard (Jac 5) He knows what nations r ready (Alma 29.8)!
We all need to be “ready” which requires us to WRITE ✍️… writing makes a ready man to keep important aspects in mind
    (2 Cor 13.5)!
To have a rhythm of obedience (Alma 57.21) active in our life !
That helps us to be directed aright (2 Ne 32.3-5) to establish the order (1 Cor 14.40) so characteristic of the priesthood !
Where there is priesthood there is true order (dc 88.119)!

I was just rereading part one and at time stamp 15:33 commentary is made on verse 35 of chapter 19. If I understand what you are saying, I submit that you are considering incorrectly the “they” in that verse. I feel like you are saying he had not shown the people at the temple any miracles yet , but he healed many in chapter 17. I read it to say that he could not show the Jews in Jerusalem so great miracles (the babes and children speaking etc his words to the father in their behalf) as he had shown to them because of their (the Nephites) faith. They had experienced many things from the Savior that the Savior was never able to share with the Jews because of “their” (the Jews) lack of faith.
I’m sorry if I misunderstood your words, maybe you were talking about the Jews too, but I didn’t hear it that way. That is what I got from verse 35 and 36
Especially as he had just told the Nephites he had never seen such great faith.
Just thought I would share …

Why are the twelve in the Americas referred to as disciples versus apostles?

    • @knielson3609
      @knielson3609 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

My understanding is that because Christ's church has only 12 Apostles on the earth at any given time, and since the Apostles were in Jerusalem, he called Disciples (I liken them to Area Authorities today) in Bountiful.

MORMONS, THERE IS NO BAPTISM FOR THE DEAD.
Scripture is very clear in stating that this life is the only chance we get. Once we die, our fate is sealed:
    HEBREWS 9:27
"It is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgement..."
There are "no second chances" after death.

    • @jamesonferney5830

Albert, I hope you listened to this entire broadcast. You are raising a very special point. It is a doctrine that as you probably know we as “Mormons/members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints feel very different about. I do not want to get in a back and forth between your opinions and interpretations vs my opinions and interpretations. I’m sure both of us could spend hours and waste much time justifying our points. So my point is this let us both leave it with God. As you are trying to reach out to us as Mormons, let me invite you to study more, and pray more, particularly about how God sends his message to us his children. While we each will learn more ask who does God use to give his message? Amos 3:7 is a great starting place. Why do we have scriptures? Who wrote them. I /we will do that as well. One of the greatest experiences you/I will ever have, is when our spirits communicate back and forth with our Father.

    • @pgray5223
      @pgray5223 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Doesn't that seem unfair for those who never had a chance to hear about Christ and baptism? I honestly believe what the scriptures say when they tell us that Our Father in Heaven is a loving and a merciful Father. And because He knows all things, He provides a way for everyone to get to hear and receive those things which will bring us back to Him.

  • @AlbertJLouie

    MORMONS, NO RESTORATION IS NEEDED.
Because Jesus already has established His Church.
    MATTHEW 16:18
"And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church and the gates of Hell shall not prevail against it..."
    ALSO
    JUDE 3
"While I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints..."
Jesus already has established His Church and built it on a rock so the gates of Hell shall not prevail against.
Also the faith was ONCE and for all already delivered to the saints.
No mention of any Mormon restoration in the past, present, or future.
