my husband worked in the kitchen when he was in prison. it was basically a minimum security daycare for misbehaving men, but still. they locked him out in the sleet on Christmas eve because he talked back to the kitchen security guard. good times.

Hey John! In the Bushy Prison did you ever hear of a little person named Jack Jet, who was a prisoner that smoked cigers. He also likes to burn small holes in investagaters shirts, esp. in the Chapel where alot of bad stuff happened too.
Another prisoner stabed Jack Jet clear through the neck & blood poured out his eyes & mouth.
Where the dining room is a prisoner's arm was hacked clean off & he bled to death.
Before being enclosed in the upper cells is where folks were pushed over the railings & they fell to their deaths onto the concrete floor.
They said at least one person died in that prison a week. Also in the clinic a man hung himself. Real nice place, huh?!
In the Carpent Baggers vid at--1:35-- if you look at the upper windows it looks like a dark figure in the window & the window next to that it looks like 2 faces in the window. It could be furniture or something placed by the windows--- who knows.

Exploration Unknown y'all need to have a little more respect for what prisoners experienced!! I've lived in Oak Ridge my whole life and have heard many stories of what it was like! so please respect the many men that lost their life that should have been released!! not funny at all!!!

My uncle was a prison guard there until he retired. Heard my stories from him and he transported James earl ray from there to Nashville prison after the whole scandal. The prisoners hated the warden who was our neighbor in coalfield. So when prisoners escaped the warden was always in fear of them coming to his home. Many sad stories behind these walls.

I took inmates from there to Jackson, Tn. many times and then back for court appearance. The inmates told lots of stories about that place. I work the Transport team off and on during my career as a Deputy. You need to go visit Cold Creek and The Wall.

My dad worked there for nearly 25 years covering almost all of the jobs, from towers to kitchen, pods and chain gang. My husband worked there for years and was one of the few that guarded the gate once it shut down. He saw a lot of things there since he worked second shift. If you go into one of the blocks, there’s a handprint traces on the wall in sharpie. That’s his. That’s where he would stand during down time and it was the perfect spot to see all the cells at once.

The prison at Petros was built initially for mining and farming. It was later a maximum security location. Lastly an installation not for permanent residence but for classification. THE Tennessee State Prison has always been in Nashville. And THAT is where executions took place.

I had the "pleasure" of going there (and the equally creepy Morgan State Correctional right down the road from there) several times in the late 90's; it was part of my job to go just about wherever there were fire protection systems (the red piping you see hanging in several shots in the video).
Brushy was freaking SCARY, I make no bones about saying. The hardcore folks got put in there and when a vendor like me came in, the admin took everything from you so the prisoners couldn't use it as a weapon on you.
They also made sure you knew they had a "no negotiation" policy re: hostages.
    Lovely, right?

I live some mies from there where you get off the interstate I40 and turn right up US 27 to go to Wartburg and then Petros.

Lima Ohio has a great old haunted Prison, used to be the Lima State Hospital and then transitioned to the Lima Correctional Facility. My dad was a guard there for many years, said prisoners spoke about many strange things. A ghost nurse would make rounds. There are also bodies buried in the basement.
I got permission to do a photo essay when I was in college, my dad was allowed to be my tour guide, I had to get photo release forms from any of the inmates I took photos of. That was back in the mid 90's and even then a lot of the prison was abandoned and very creepy. The prison closed I think 2004.
It would be a cool place to tour, if any of you are interested in tracking to Ohio I could inquire if it's something that would be allowed.
It's named in a lot of the Haunted Ohio books and also in many hunted Ohio webpages.

James Earl Ray was a fugitive who assassinated Martin Luther King Jr. on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. Ray was convicted on his forty-first birthday after entering a guilty plea to forgo a jury trial. Had he been found guilty by jury trial, he would have been eligible for the death penalty. Sentenced to de facto life imprisonment, he later recanted his confession and tried unsuccessfully to gain access to a retrial. In 1998, Ray died in prison of complications due to chronic Hepatitis C infection. Brushy Mountain State Penitentiary last named Brushy Mountain Correctional Complex was a large maximum-security prison in the town of Petros in Morgan County, Tennessee, operated by the Tennessee Department of Correction. It was established in 1896 and operated until 2009.

I never spent time there . but those cells with thier own shower stall, wouldve belonged to the trustee inmates. Please the next time you have a chance to visit a prison . Could be so kind as to not make such comments. The groups shower comment , although it doea happen behind the fence. It usually has to do with breaking an inmates code. Most of the knives in the kitchen were chained with a short cable of wire. Most of the flesh cutting were merely accidental at best lol. Most prisons never allowed talkong while in chow hall. Thank you. But loved the video. Keep up the great work.

In the prison there was a little person named Jack Jet who was a prisoner who smoked cigars. He was stabed in the neck & blood came out of his eyes & neck. The dude was stabed 19 times. An investagater got a small hole burned in his shirt. The Chapel is a known hot spot where alot of nasty stuff happened. That's also where the investagter got the burn mark in his shirt. Before the steers where closed off the prisoners would through people over the side rails & they'd be killed after hitting the concert floor. They said at least one person was killed a week in that place. A guy hung himself in the infirmary.

WOW! You can really tell you were in the south. When you were talking to kid in the gray hoodie & red jacket. That had all lights that looked like a christmas tree. When he said "Ghostizes", I think that is how it would be spelt? LOL
