It really isn't place is actually pretty dangerous if you don't know what ur doing if ur not local go in the daytime and don't go farther than the entrance unless you have a 4x4

The Pink Room had been burned before your visit. It was a small three story wooden building. first floor was chicken house, second was food storage and top was the play room.
That wasn't the pink room, it's no longer there, the pink room was in the chicken coop, the very top, it was 3 stories i believe..
You are correct, I read up on this story sometime ago, they were known to make homemade wine and offer it to their "guest" in the pink room.
I thought that little mini-tower was way too small for entertaining! For restraining, perhaps - no corners to hide in, nowhere to run, but definitely not for entertaining. Except maybe as a cubby where a couple of ne'er-do-wells could huff paint.

someone else you are correct most of the structures are gone now. When i lived in Trion in the early and mid 80s a lot of it was still somewhat intact. Went back a few years ago and nature has reclaimed almost all of it. One of my mothers co-workers husband was an investigator so we got to see most of the crime scene photos back then. It was extremely gruesome.

this is a very tragic story and what makes it even worse is the fact that i live in the same city this happened. a girl i know lives about 15 minutes from the manor and is actually doing a “haunted hayride” on this mountain tonight (october 27, 2018). my mom was a teenager when this happened so she told me about it. as well, someone we know took a brick from the manor and less than a month later had an accident during a tumbling class and is now paralyzed from the neck down. it’s definitely a very spooky story
They should have been charged with murder of 2 people and 2 poor dogs.... Crazy townpeople!!!
Beverly Balius Perhaps, but the crime was likely and logically mitigated by the fact that two grown men had almost certainly been molesting a teenage boy.
Now the dogs, otoh, were blameless.
They (Brock and West) were, in fact, both charged with murder. Brock entered a plea of guilty to avoid the death penalty, and West (who changed his story all the time and only incorporated the idea that he had been forced to take LSD by the victims AFTER his defense team learned, immediately before trial, that the prosecution had found some LSD at Corpsewood) was originally found guilty and sentenced to death. This verdict was overturned on a technicality, and before the second trial could proceed after a change of venue to Polk County West also changed his plea to guilty to avoid the death penalty. Both men are now serving life sentences in Georgia prisons. I live in this area, and quite a lot of people - the vast majority of us - believe both Brock and West deserved the death penalty (but, again, due to pleas and technical issues with West's first trial they got life instead). Either way, they didn't get off scott-free by any means.
These men also killed another man while in the process of trying to flee across the country to Mexico after this murder (although they never made it to Mexico). And, for his part, this was not West's first murder. At 13 years old he actually shot a much younger child in the head and killed him.
Make no mistake, there was never - then or now - any confusion in this part of the country about the fact that these men (Brock and West) were cold blooded murderers even if some people in the area found Scudder and Odom's lifestyle to be bizarre.

Dr Charles Scudder and Joseph Odom love to party and entertain. Plus after moving into to the North Georgia mountains I am sure Dr Scudder never force His neighbors or anyone else to do anything that they did not already want to do.

I very much appreciate your treatment of this subject matter and the subjects involved. I saw some of your kindness in the words you chose in this video. You were sensitive to the victims and didn't pass judgment on their lifestyles or beliefs. You simply visited the site, gave us an enlightened background and synopsis as you showed us around, and informed us as to what happened in certain places. Thank you so much.
They were pederasts. They entertained teens in their remote castle and used them in the Pink Room. They definitely were NOT nice gentlemen...but in public they sort of pretended....many do.

There was a women involved in the murders- She was a witness and friend of the killers. I’m actually very close to her, I was engaged to her nephew. I’m not gonna say her name for privacy reasons- But she published a book under a false name. Its called Corpsewood: The Eyewitness Account. Please go read it!!! She’s a wonderful lady and these crimes are so tragic and deserve more recognition for the horrors that these two went through. To this day, she can’t speak about this night without crying. In new york on Staten Island, theres an abandoned mental hospital with untouched tunnels under it. I wish you could see it before they knock it down and rip all the tunnels up. The history there is so dark, and the dirt has just come off the floor for the first time in the buildings so you can see the floors! It's super cool.

You are right. This is not the pink room, many people are getting that wrong. the Pink room/the chicken coop was the first structure to burn down (most likely arson because they had no electricity and it burned down after the murders occurred)

I live about 30 minutes from this location. Me and a couple of my buddies camped there overnight when I was 15. We didn't have a tent or anything, just sleeping bags. It wasn't anything to talk about really, just a cool true crime story. More of the house was there when I camped. I remember we were dropped of there foe the night by my mother. The next morning we had to walk off of the mountain. We didn't get cell service until we hit the paved road. It was eerily quiet up there at night.

Jacob I looked in a mirror at the Bell Witch Museum and said the name "Bell Witch" 3 times and proceeded it with "Come get me bitch" and laughed it of afterwards.
3 days later I had quadruple bypass surgery. Yes doing that was an urban legend in Adams Tennessee. So I went to the cave and museum and challenged the witch. I thought it was a silly high-school girl BS story the was a spin of the bloody mary curse and didn't think much of it.
That night I had chest pains that felt like a gas attack, and up most of the night drinking Bismuth.
Next day groggy but no pain. day after a good nights sleep, short of breath and weak.
2:;00 AM that night? LIFEFLIGHT helicopter ride to Vanderbilt heart clinic. Quad bypass...

Just watched dead silent on investigation discovery about these murders I had to check out this place, I figured it was probably in ruins because if not it would be a great place for paranormal investigators, I like investigations into places where you actually know people were killed there and it's not a handed down old story

My Sister has a vacation home near there I shared the video with her, she did not know of this storie or location. She is excided about the possibility of checking it out. Oh, by the way, the doctor will see you now.

Just be aware ahead of time that the "first" documentary on this case is far from accurate. It was filmed around 1984, I think, (or maybe that's when it came out), and the producer of the film (who claims to be a Christian paranormal investigator) most definitely has a predetermined angle she wants to push in the film. Its only saving grace (should one want to use that term) is that does show footage of the area, and let's you see video of some of the people at the time. Aside from that, this producer relies to heavily on her predetermined bias to make it really good as a documentary of what really happened (or even of the general feeling of the public around the area at the time - I actually live pretty close to Corpsewood and grew up here).
The book "The Corpsewood Manor Murders of North Georgia" by Amy Petulla is pretty good, and it corrects some of the misstatements (many of which most likely unintentional at the time because less had been released about the case then) of the earliest book on the case.
Also, don't be led astray by more modern comments on the internet that "most people" in this part of Georgia felt that Scudder and Odom got what they deserved - most of us don't believe that at all - and during the trial, while many did not approve of Scudder and Odom's lifestyle, most of the people in this area believed that Brock and West deserved the death penalty for their crimes (and quite a few people still consider it a miscarriage of justice that, because of the way things worked out, both, instead, got life in prison).
I have seen this before and it is creepy . Jacob , there's also another place in Stone Mountain Ga. that similar to this. My dad found it back in 1978 / 79 . It wasn't far from my dad's shop and where we lived when I was growing up. The house had caught on fire and my dad took my mom , my sister , and I to see what it looked like. The story is that there were devil worshipers that lived there. We went in the backyard and there was this concert ( what looked to be a swimming pool ) , but it had stairs that lead down to the bottom of it . It was so scary , even my dad got the chills and he told us , it's time to go now !! If you want to try and look for it ..... it's off Ponce de Leon Road in Stone Mountain Georgia . I don't remember the exact name of the road it was on . I'm gonna see if I can find it by Googling it . I'll let you know if you're interested . Now that's got my curiosity up . Thanks for sharing this video The Carpetbagger !!!

Wish it were possible to bulldoze the genpop in the south that still refer to people as "devil-worshipper." A lot of the locals here STILL call Corpsewood "devil-worship mountain". Growing up being called that myself, just hits a nerve....these murders were horrific. They were a peaceful couple living off the land with their Mastiffs, making their own wine, Dr. Scudders partner Odom loved to cook and they did love to entertain guests who were welcome, but just lived private lives and these towns don't embrace anything that doesn't fit their ideal cookie cutter lifestyle. Anton Lavey sent Dr. Scudder birthday cards but he never joined the Church. Even if so, Satanists are "devil worshippers", they worship themselves. Dr. Scudder was more interested in magick, the occult, the unknown. He never gave himself a title and it's unfair for others to but they always will.
As for the brick, I'm sure Dr. Scudder and Odom wouldn't mind. It is recently private property now though.

Don't know why so many people wonder what he ment by scudder saying "I asked for this" you think it may have to do with him trusting one of the guys that killed him. What he may already had a suspicion of and that was that the guy had already gave him a uneasy feeling and because he let them in he had an idea of what was to come do you think just maybe.
