    This is actually dejarnettes sanatorium. The original western state hospital (with the spiral staircase) has been turned into a hotel and condos. Dejarnette opened this after he was replaced as director of western state in the 30’s. It later became a children’s hospital.

  • @pattygadberry2464

    If I remember correctly, Joseph DeJarnette himself had no children. I like to think that's karma.
    I read or heard somewhere that at night Dr. D can be heard walking the halls dragging his chains. Given what he was responsible for, those chains must be exceptionally long.
    Perhaps this would be a good place for one of Jon's overnighters. LOL

    First , thanks for keeping it "REAL" Carpetbagger! Second, great explore! Real life is scary enough as this video clearly shows . Great footage! A person can easily imagine the horrors these poor patients must have endured. The building is like a depressing tribute to the lives of the victims this mad doctor tortured in life.

    It hurts my heart seeing these horrific places, but its also good to have the history and it should be preserved , to show how bad things once were and how far things have progressed how we should never let it happen again.

    • @SIN3JASON
      @SIN3JASON ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It really wasn't all that long ago when it was open and the result of closing places like this...
      All the craziness you see in the world that people accept as the norm... It's a whole lot crazier than a lot of the people that I was locked up with in this place. It's not like TV when you see people running around pulling their hair out or foaming at the mouth that's all Hollywood crap. Most of the people in this asylum were normal everyday people. Most were just depressed and wanted to kill themselves like myself. It's what we experienced while we were there that makes it bad. Being doped up on medication and I don't mean small amounts I mean three handfuls of various kinds of pills everyday. Not being able to use the bathroom properly not knowing if you were coming or going alive dead asleep and in a dream state or wide awake. Constantly having syringes stuck into you drawing blood for blood analysis constantly being fed food that look like vomit tasted like it and smelled like it too. I lost a buttload of weight in this place because I lived off a cereal and bread... I tried to commit suicide when I was around 13 or 14. You do stuff like that you don't get to just go home. This place is scary looking now but it was just as scary living in this place not knowing if you were ever going to get out. All of this of course was a lifetime ago... For those of you who have never lived in a place like this you just don't have any idea and be thankful that in your crazy life somebody with seniority hasn't decided to consider you too crazy to live out in the world and locks you up against your will in a place like this. Nowadays they don't do anything like that they just allow you to run around making TikTok videos and preach about transgenderism and being multiple different sexes and blah blah blah.. yeah back in the '70s '80s and '90s you'd have been incarcerated in a place like this. And there would be no screaming about it because they would beat you half to death and inject you full of something that made you go night night. If there was any true justice in the world y'all would burn this place to the ground and build something useful over top of it. Nothing good comes to mind when I think of this place.

    this was actually an asylum for the clinically insane children. after it was shut down, the police used it as a shooting practice facility. they would also randomly check all levels to see if there was anyone hiding out (criminals/homeless). my teacher searched here when she was 18,, with friends, and they left before the attic. that place is haunted you shouldn't have gone. i hope you didn't take anything...if you did,then.....good luck.
