Would absolutely *adore* seeing Mauretania getting some more attention in the model-building world! We definitely need to lobby some manufacturers for a kit like that ;)

I think the closest to a larger scale Mauretania is a 1/350 scale Lusitania. That kit is vintage so its a bit pricey but if you were to get ahold of one you could modify it to be Mauretania. The kit would need a ton of work since it isn't exactly a super accurate model.

    Oooh ! I have an idea ! 🤩
I d'ont think that a defined kit of this model exists but,
you could built the Ulysses submarine from the Disney " Atlantis the lost Empire" !
It would be a great challenge as you like them 😉

I really enjoyed your titanic build. i have built the Trumpeter 1/200 Arizona, Missouri and half of the Bismarck all with aftermarket photoetch, all long term complex projects. The one I have enjoyed the most over the past few years is the Trumpeter 1/48 Uboat, not sue how accurate the model is but it was a lot of fun.

Mauritania would definitely be the ship to peak my interest most as I'm also local to newcastle so have always loved her and her sister, but the lack of kits for them is an issue

I think the Lotus as a 1/8 scale or 1/5 scale model would be far easier to work with, but a submersible Lotus Esprit Bond car, would be an idea I'd certainly want to watch LOL

I’ll watch either of the kits you proposed, but if only to persuade model builders to release a decently sized kit, i’d love to see a Mauretania build!

To start with I must say I'm not a boat modeller, but have watched your series from the start and really enjoyed watching the mechanics, lighting and the level of detail you have put into this model. I model railways at a scale of 1/148 so can appreciate all the research put in and the scale you are working in. Sometimes it's nice to get everything to the best accuracy that you can, but can also can feel a bit restraining from an artistic point of view. So my suggestion for a future project is a bit left field LOL! How about an RC version of a pirate ship, my thoughts leading particularly of the Black Pearl. A bit whimsical I know but certainly a ship that could have lots of detail and lighting. Just food for thought 🤔. Keep up the good work. All the best Tony.

Hi Rob, fantastic build of the Titanic, I had a old relative who went down on that ship..Anyway, how about a paddle steamer, Many were used for pleasure sailing, as well as ferries, like the ones used on the Isle of Wight. Will look forward to what you will choose, cheers TF 😊

If I may add my recommendation, how about HMS victory. There is a lot of room there to add features to set it apart from others out there and sharpen many skills. You could make her sail, add lighting, smoke and dare I say sound to her guns. Functioning rudder and sails, the sea is the limit for what you could do. On the sound note, have you ever thought about adding sound to titanic? The throbbing drone of her engines, her whistles, perhaps dockside sounds. As a model railroader I find sound to really give a model character

If you're looking for a liner to model other than the Olympic class; how about the two big Queens, Mary and/or Elizabeth? I imagine there would be plenty of resources to build one at a scale you would be cool with.

I'd go with HMS Hood, personally speaking that is. If you had a member of the family who was aboard her, I think that would be far more precious and meaningful. I know what you mean about RMS Mauretania, I made a 1/600 scale model of her as she appeared in 1933 livery. I think it's possible to put requests on the modelling production firms, so maybe if there's enough of us to request it.. maybe.. just maybe, trumpeter or any other company could mould a 1/350 or even 1/200 scale.. a long shot I know but it's nice to dream. I have shipping history in my family too, a member of the family on my mother's side was aboard RMS Lusitania when she was sunk in 1915, he was a stoker in the boiler room and died in the sinking. I'd go with HMS Hood, she'd look stunning. Congratulations on the RMS Titanic, loved each episode of it 👏

Hi Rob, the Trumpeter HMS Hood in 1/200 scale would make a nice companion to the Titanic model. Yes the upscale kits do make it a first class museum standard project to undertake and customise some parts to operate! I think for me personally the Soviet sub would not be that amazing unless it was made to work in the pond! Soviet submarines do seem to have a nasty habit of staying submerged though! The 007 Lotus would have to be quite a big scale and even then would require some pretty outstanding micro engineering. We have spoken about the RMS Mauritania before. An excellent choice but lacking in any large useable kit form. Ideally, 1/200 scale would be great, Trumpeter get on it please! Perhaps a commercially available 1/200 SS Nomadic would be a great little kit too!! I am obviously a little biased on surface ships! I am doing my update now so will get that off to you soon. Regards JH ⚓

After the immense number of hours put into the Titanic, you should choose the idea that you think you'll enjoy most and that you'd like to have displayed before any of the others - I know I'd feel a tad overwhelmed taking on another complex and massively detailed task after the huge undertaking that Titanic was.

  • @loganevh

The titanic shot at the end of the video looks so awesome. With the lighting and excellent detail, looks really great. I would very much like to see the plank on frame launch built. I really like building models that would never be done by someone else. I believe that idea is more attractive to me. But, same time truly loved keeping up with the Titanic build...definitely enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing your work!!

The only issue I can see with the sub is, wouldn't it be basic? If you plan to make it an actual sub, you wouldn't be able to see any interior. So, what would the build be of? (I'm giving you some things to keep in mind.)

  • @MartinFutter70
    @MartinFutter70 ปีที่แล้ว

K-129 sounds a very interesting. I'll have to look that up, and your point about her looks are as you say - have a very distinctive U boat characteristic about her.
I'd love to see you to have a stab at the Lotus, but you would have to fight movie magic should you want a vehicle to transform from one to the other, you'd probably be stuck with just the submersible version.
All your other choices are worthy winners to watch, but an all time favourite of mine is the Disney version of the Nautilus, although many videos exist on building her.
Mary Celeste would be good, you wouldnt have to add any figures!
Enjoy choosing your next endeavour and will watch with much enjoyment

oooh, difficult one. A large model for sure. Something that makes your build unique from others and we can all learn the history of. I would lean towards the Mauretania, however same scale as your Titanic. That way we can all see if Titanic really "doesn´t look any bigger than the Mauretania" haha. joke aside. Something in large scale and with RC. Make it different, it´s what makes your videos different from the other ones. Really enjoyed the Titanic build though. Please post regular updates when you sail her:)

How about....the Cutty Sark? Plenty of models in quite large scales, Including billings who do one in 1/75 scale. That would be impressive, something different, and big enough to film easily. Plus your reference material is on your doorstep. I'd love to see the Mauritania too, but I think it would be a bit 'samey' to the Titanic to do straight after.

The Fleetscale hull for Mauretania at 1/200 retails at £105. Polish company JSC produce a 1/400 card model (out of stock at the moment) which you could use as the basis for scaling up and scratch building components. From my knowledge of the ship, I don’t think this would be too much of a challenge for someone with an engineering background such as yourself. (A 1:250 version of the card kit may also available) With your 3D printer you’d be able to produce many items such as doors etc. Detailed plans of the ship are available from several publications. Of course, if you were to choose to do the Revell 1/400 QM2, this can be super detailed and makes a superb model…..

I actually built Bismarck but as a Partwork with lots of moving parts etc. I'd love to do Hood. Incidentally some theories say that it was Prinz Eugen that fired the shell that sank Hood but it suited both sides more to say it was Bismarck....

On your list: Without question Hood due to family connection.
Not on your list: Disney Nautilus. Who can resist a Steampunk RC submarine? I do believe large-scale kits exist. You will rule every London lake.

    • @CitizenMio
      @CitizenMio ปีที่แล้ว +1

Another vote for these fine suggestions ;)
I came to this channel for Titanic, but I happen to like submarines too. The trouble ofc is that unless you do a cutaway you don't really have an interior.
The Disney Nautilus in all it's steampunk glory neatly let's you have one anyway.
I know cuz I struggle with that as well, as I love a bit of that "doll house" effect with fascinating interiors and figures. Personally I've decided to scratchbuild my own fancy sub. But will get some more experience with a bonkers but fun conversion of a kit first.
Third on my list would be Mauretania, not my favourite, but still needs some more modelling love. Her being another ocean liner is both a blessing and a curse, hence why I put her third. It's good for the consistency of the channel, but much of it might feel a bit too similar to work on for another three years.

Even though I understand Mauretania is like Titanic in some ways, and also you don't want to do it directly after this I have to agree that a 1:200 model of her would be amazing. I saw a few mention there is a waterline hull available.
Hood on the other hand has an awesome story, and is so close to you. Something in connection with your own family is very cool.
I ike ships, but maybe that car... I mean come on!! How crazy that would be if you could make it work. Never the less, I'll be watching what ever you will make.

I wish Trumpeter would produce more peace time ocean going ships in 1:200 than just battleships, destroyers etc. There are SO MANY GREAT ships, I would LOVE to see by Trumpeter. One being the Edmound Fitzgerald, as well as the Maritaina, Lusitaina the( Queens), Mary and Elisabeth and etc! I love warships don't get me wrong; However, these MASSIVE ships are a great part of our world history and should be made for us to model as well. These so called "ships" of today are not ships, they are floating motel segments that would break-up if they attempted to crossed an Ocean. People today I don't think realize how these mighty ships molded and shaped the world before flight and made a lot possible for us in our world today. Great and beautiful model you made sir of the Trumpeter Titanic ! Hope to watch more future builds from you. - Gary

I've watched your Titanic build from the start. It's been interesting, educational and a great way to learn about the ship and RC ship problems and solutions. I think the K-129 Golf Class submarine would be an interesting next project especially considering its RC potential and unusual Cold War design. As for the RMS Mauritania there's bound to be a good printable model around either now or future, maybe an upscale to match your Titanic build? either way i'll be watching. already subscribed on my TV, now PC to comment...

The 1/200 USS Enterprise by Trumpeter. Mainly because I am a Trekkie. The ship 'featured ' in Star Trek 4. (I don't think it was the real one though) . Also from a practical point of view KA and Pontos have aftermarket sets fir it too.
