I have visited the Titanic museum in Las Vegas and it is as gaudy as you would imagine it would be. They have a large lump of ice within the exhibition that visitors can touch to see what ice feels like (seriously) - which amazingly gets gasps of ‘oooh thats cold’, as people are expecting it to be hot clearly….

During the senate inquiry the moron Sen. Smith actually asked 5th Officer Lowe what ice was made off...."Ice, I suppose" was Lowe's answer......

Ah I thought it might have been thus. What a shame, still I suspect it won’t be moving anytime soon

I’ve visited that exhibition and I found it to be incredibly interesting.

Would be good to see an impression of it painted as it was when it hit the ocean floor in 1912

Not sure if you have instagram, but if you do look up my profile on there. I’ve made another one with Titanics original colours

    G'day.
    Grant here in Hobart Tasmania.
I have worked in the Incat shipyard for 28 years and have had a hand in building nearly 60 boats.
I am a huge fan of the Olympic class liners and will be getting the Trumpeter 1/200 Titanic for Christmas and will be watching your videos on how to do an ever better job building the model.
At Incat we are currently building our biggest boat yet, a 130m pure electric catamaran.
    Keep up the good work.
    Grant

Hi there, sorry for the late reply, I just looked up your shipyard! Always nice to see businesses pioneering low emission systems too.
Making model boats while working in a ship yard sounds like a bit of a busman’s holiday!
Thank you for the comment, I’m glad you like the videos. Good luck with your own model too

I was lucky enough to touch the real "big piece", surely that is no longer permitted. Was awhile ago, if it's any consolation, the exhibit is very haunted. Same in Pigeon Forge with the hauntings. Mother became lightheaded there and grabbed the large plexiglass cube the violin was in and it swayed a bit, was very bad situation. Will be in Branson very soon which is also haunted by children and the ghost of JJ Astor, woman in white, etc. Will be ordering this one!

Well said on the big piece, your not the only one who has that belief.. myself, my big sister, brother in law, niece, old mother and my late father had those beliefs.. but.. location is beyond our control.. and unfortunately we have no say in the matter. Anyway this was an excellent short special, didn't know they had such kit.. very nice, might try going after that in the future. Great to hear your voice.. glad to see you still online, loved this very much. Stay safe, happy modelling and all the best mate 👏 👍

Yeah it’s a shame but as you say, not much we can do about it! Thank you for your lovely comment. I will be back doing a full series soon, just not quite yet. Hope you are going ok too!

A strange but satisfying little build...the rust kit is very interesting too, i may have to check that out for a future Nautilus build.
Pity the hull is located in such a stupid location, but im guessing that it to do with money, ownership and ignorance.
If i had my way it would be back with the rest of the ship.
Looking forward to your next 'project'

I fully agree, leave the wreck well alone would be my preference too. I don’t have a problem with investigating the wreck, but I don’t buy the argument that ‘if we don’t recover artefacts the story will fade into history’. As you say presumably this boils down to money and ownership

  • @thernotsoealmackay

Outstanding work as always and it was a nice surprise to log in and see a new video uploaded. I can fully imagine this would be the unintentional aesthetic if I tried building the Trumpeter model you recently completed. My lack of artistic/technical skills notwithstanding, your skill and the finished product, as always, has me riveted 😄

      Hi there,
Nice to hear from you. I hope you are keeping well? Thanks for the comment, maybe you should give the trumpeter a go! You might surprise yourself. And if you end up with a wreck model that’s still pretty cool! Good work on the riveting pun!

@@TheModelBoatGuy Plodding along nicely here thanks. I'm actually considering giving this piece a go; my one and only foray into modelling was about 25 years ago with an Airfix model of Concord 😄 Looking forward to seeing your next project. All the best 👍

Hi Robbie, great job, actually stunning! The paint job (rust job) really adds to the whole effect. As you say the little kit is quite adaptable to different finishes. I was thinking of doing the rust on the inside and perhaps the pristine paint job on the outside just after the sinking. The rust effects kit looks a brilliant investment too. Full marks to Neil on this inspired little kit. I am on chapter 12 of the Email.......just kidding! Glad the new (old) kit arrived safely! Regards JH ⚓

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Thanks John, yeah I like the idea of the pristine paint job on one side and rust on the other. It is quite striking as by coincidence the big piece has black, white and the sheerline stripe on it.
Hope your kit has turned out ok!

Vegas is no place for the Big Piece. I enjoy the pieces you highlight from Maritime Models, but I find the outfit a bit frustrating...he doesn't ship outside the UK (at least the items I need) and it's quite disappointing as I am very eager for the 1:200 aerial. 🤷‍♂️
