The problem I think most gaming companies have with the action-adventure approach of Aliens is that of the two major gun battles that happen in that movie, the Colonial Marines experienced severe losses both times. Sure, they had plenty of high-powered weaponry, but they were still on the losing side of each battle (which was Jim Cameron's point). Had the makers of this game remembered that detail, it probably would have been a better survival horror game with more intense combat situations.

I've played a bunch of PSVR2 and never once had that issue pressing the PlayStation buttons?? Is it something in particular about the control layout for this game?
I truly think all the reviewers are confused about how easy it is to actually kill an alien in the movies when they have proper pulse rifles and even shotguns and pistols and such. It's really the sheer number of them and their ability to appear from anywhere and move on walls and shoot acid for blood and stuff that makes them a pain. But, yeah, they should and usually do die pretty quickly when you're firing rounds from a machine gun into them. So I don't think that's a legit thing for all you guys to be calling out here. Maybe it's something else that's failing to convey the right sense of tension and such, but I don't think just making the aliens bullet sponges is the key. Possibly making their blood actually cause real damage if you shoot them when they are too close, and maybe even keeping the acid on the floor for longer and making that cause some damage if you step into it too would really sell the danger of even engaging them at all. I think that would be a good way to handle it. Then you'd really have to pay proper attention to both the aliens and environment at all times, which I think would up the tension level considerably.
They should give the aliens free roam of the map which means you could enter a room on the first play through and there’s no alien, the second time there is. The game sounds like it’s missing unpredictability. Stick the unpredictability in and we could have a real winner of a VR horror game. Of course the main scenes which always require an alien to carry the cutscene would have to remain unchanged but just give the aliens free roam and the game will change for the better. Also add in a distance to noise for the aliens to actually hear you or not.

this is exactly how i wanted alien isolation to be, a horror game with multiple xeno's and not just 1 where you constantly need to play hide and seek with him, dont like it, i prefer something more like dead space that gives you actual weapons
I mean the alien "pretty easy to kill" compared to the first one, is that in the first they didn't actually have any firearms, just a flamethrower that we understood wouldn't be much of a use. also the fact they are worried that it would destroy the ships they're on if they would bleed the thing... but in the second one it's pretty clear that on a planet (so no worries that he planet would crash...) and with firearms, you become a issue for the aliens... and that continue in the third and fourth alien. so not much surprise here, then you have isolation which make the aliens unkillable even with good firearms, but then I would see it as worse lorewise, it doesn't follow the aliens weakness in front of firearms.. but at the same time procure a feeling of thrills you wouldn't get otherwise. so yeah 50/50 on this one, think they did a good portray on this one, but the alien strategies which seem weak contrary to the lore where the aliens definitely "think" for himself, at which point also understand the danger of firearms and act accordingly.

I don't think you should ever really encounter, and certainly not kill, many Aliens in these games. It strips them of all of their enigma and otherworldliness, they become just another video game mob. Alien and Aliens are really important to me, and while Isolation nailed the general tone of the movies, it still over exposed the Xenomorph, for me. Just watching the AI jank out a bit, massively undermines the mythology of the being, leading to a banal familiarity. I feel that a Xenomorph is the kind of creature that, if you see it, it's already long since seen you, and you're more or less already dead. And so, "less is more", for me, personally. But it's unfortunately been dragged out in the light of day, and prostituted for cash grab spin-offs going back to Alien 4, (Alien 3 is aggressively grim, the CGI aged poorly, but it still preserves some of that grandiosity and enigma, imo, Fincher is a great filmmaker) and most egregiously in the AVP films. Then Prometheus and it's sequels destroyed the mythology and enigma of the Space Jockeys. To sum it up- Aliens should be an archetypal manifestation of brutally efficient Alien biology, that lurks in the shadows, they are the walls. They are something that you should only point at, and attempt to understand. But instead we shone bright studio lights on it, ultimately reducing it's enigma and inherent "Alienness".
"Alien and Aliens are really important to me, and while Isolation nailed the general tone of the movies" Isolation nailed Alien but it didn't nail Aliens, the Marines could fight back they just underestimated the enemy. If you are basing a game on Aliens as this game is you should certainly encounter multiple aliens.

"Alien and Aliens are really important to me, and while Isolation nailed the general tone of the movies"
Isolation nailed Alien but it didn't nail Aliens, the Marines could fight back they just underestimated the enemy.
If you are basing a game on Aliens as this game is you should certainly encounter multiple aliens.
Very much agreed. Problem is money. More people like a game = more money. Youre opinion (i share it) is niche because you have critical thought.
Wished they made a non-VR version of this...
all the time playing new alien and why without playing new game campaign predator without new villain
I was first but decided to watch the review before commenting.
Great comment! *pats back*
Proud of you man

Oh look... its a 7.... 🙄
I much prefer the style of Alien with an Unlikable Alien, but this might be fun... If i could play as the Xenomorph....

In what language is that name?
Back to terrible Xeno AI....it's like Isolation never happened.
This is not alien isolation this is alien rogue incursion , completely different game I'm pretty sure ull get the ai your looking for in isolation 2 , which is seemingly in the works 👍🏾 its good to have unique games
@ what I mean is why do we still have alien games with dumb ai? I get Isolation ramped up the alien ai but can’t we have something maybe a little lighter in intelligence but still intelligent? The aliens here still seem to just rush towards the person
@MrVictorRong yea good question alot of games have AI on the back of important shit smh graphics always advanced but npcs are just as dumb ass back in the 90s smh
You thought it would be 7, but it was 5.7.
So comparable to Starfield. Got it.
Cut 50 people bringing up Isolation for no reason at all.
7 seems high for how buggy this looks.
Classic 7/10 😂

Aweful review. Only aliens and facehuggers to kill. No duh dude havent you seen the movies.
its An Alien game in VR!!! And its only 7/10? Why are there no amazing VR games still???😢
Don't listen to outlets who don't care about vr. There are plenty of great VR games that these outlets just sweep under the rug. Synapse, legendary tales, vr skater, Madison vr etc are all first class
Batman, Metro, Behemoth, Underdogs that is just this year.
I heard Asgard's Wrath 2 was pretty good
Half Life Alyx is great.

VR trash a shame. A real game would've been preferable
Sounds like someone is going to ask Santa for a PSVR2 system.
