Some airline companies pay your entire pilot education if you sign up to work for them for a certain period of time. But if you flunk your exam or quit the job before what the deal specifies, you will need to pay for all of it. This could be an idea for you, check which airlines do this. First you will have to take the A certificate, which is "easy" enough, takes roughly one year, this includes your 20 sessions with a teacher/co-pilot and another 20 solo flights, this is the minimum, if you pass these, and the exam, you can then fly a single engine plane. Then you start to study for you B License, which is mostly twin engine planes. While you study for your B license you need make sure to get a couple of hundred flight hours in your single engine plane, you need those to qualify for the exam for the B license. Finally you can go for your D license, which is Passenger jets. The entire education from A-D can take as little as 3 years, but realistically 4 years. Then you should have obtained the 1500+ flight hours required to receive the commercial pilot license (D license). And of course you need to pass the exam. After this comes specific education on the type of plane you want to fly. When you think of it, 3-4 years from start to finish isn't that bad for a job like this. It pays well, and you get to see the world. And being a pilot is still been seen as a high status job, something exiting that people admire. So if you want to become a pilot, i say, do it, go for it. Try and get a deal where a company pays the entire ordeal.

Very good video, Haneda is a scary airport to approach (at least in P3D :D). I have one question: why do you switch the Flight Directors to off prior to touchdown?
When we align on the runway axis, we are not following the localizer anymore, so we must turn off the Flight Directors.
Flight directors when turned off would no longer provide guidance for the approach but would provide guidance for a missed approach once a go around is initiated.
Once you push the TOGA buttons, the flight directors will be visible again and are then used for the go-around.
... or just ignore them!? Thank you for the info.
And engages speed mode for the autothrottle during visual approaches. Case in point Asiana 214 would have most likely been saved if the fds were turned off.

Why the aircraft was not aligned with the runway with autopilot engaged? The pilot has to disengage autopilot to align with the runway manually. 2:40.

Yes Chris, we strictly follower the Localizer that has a 2 degrees difference. Indeed, it is deceptive, also due to the left crosswind we had that day.
