  • Cliffe Knechtle has a good dialogue with students at Northern Illinois University. Recorded in October 2012.
The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This was an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

@@ericscaillet2232 It's an analogy, "a comparison between one thing and another, typically for the purpose of explanation or clarification", not supposed to make worldly sense in the sense of it being a 100% logical *scenario* . You're meant to question the comparison of the contrary take, and not the *scenario* itself.

If man admits to being created by a creator then he has to see himself as subordinate to that creator and subject to that creator. So it's no wonder we bob and weave as best we can to avoid the acknowledgement of a creator.

Let's stop putting God in the dock and putting the non-believer in the judgement seat. EVERYONE who has lived, is living and who will ever live, knows that God exists! No need to prove this or show evidence because as Christians we have the total authority of God's Word. We ought to have full confidence that His Word is truth and that He is sovereign. So remember Christian, let God's Word be your authority and it can bring down every argument and attack!

Any time a skeptic states 'You can't prove Jesus existed', they've proven themselves to be irrational. Then, to simply throw straw-man arguments while the guy was answering his question is simply bad manners. Why is it when people are confronted with their own inconsistencies, they resort to behaving like children?
Sad to see that type of 'thinking' in American institutions of 'higher learning'.

I think i see the point in the end the guy was trying to ask. He was saying, why can't you take the higher law that God gave you and just use that as the 'highest law'? To that Cliffes argument would still be correct because another person could come back and say 'ah but that highest law is made by man (because long ago religion was erased in this scenario) thus i think i have the highest law and it is [insert example]'. We need "religion" because it helps direct those to the highest law giver. That puts it out of the arbitrary hands of man and in the absolute morality of God. It's a tricky thing though because too much religion and fanaticism will push both the believers and non believers further from God.

8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away. 9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
    1 Cor 13:8-10 (NKJV)

  • @mackdmara

If you want to talk about these things, do not dodge. When that kid was caught on the moral argument, he just said, 'Well, you can't prove God.'. That is not an argument, nor is it a concession. Be honest, you have no objective base for your beliefs & you are fine with that. He will tell you to live that out.
What he did do was a mud in the water strategy. I could not rationally hold what I do believe, so here are five other fast arguments against it also. You could have a mountain of other arguments, but that does not change this one. If you want to start with, 'Give me evidence for God, because I think it cannot be proven.', then start there.
Just remember you asked for it. God Bless.

Im sorry forgot the comma in that sentence where i said that we think we know it all and we don't, God does. Sorry forgot the comma. I actually meant to say that god does know more than us. Yes I do think God knows more than I do because he is all knowing. Even though I believe in God, it does not mean that i should claim that I know everything because i don't. If a christian says he knows it all then he really doesn't because wisdom comes from God. Jesus is the wisdom of God, Amen.

There are in fact far more murders today than even 60 years ago -- no matter how you slice it -- as a gross total or as a percentage of the population that takes into account population increase.
And here is a factoid that should chill everyone to the bone, which is that medical progress has hidden millions of murders.
What do I mean by that? It is estimated that if medical knowledge and technology was the same today as it was in 1960, the total number of murders each year would be FIVE TIMES HIGHER.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse.

Except for when you said that we don't think god knows as much as us... if you believe in god then you probably think that he knows a great deal more than you... the thing is a lot of people don't believe in god, but that doesn't mean they all think they know it all. And even if the bible had that another big thing it does is posit the incredible and miraculous with little to no evidence to back it up. By this logic you might as well say that flying saucers are real as well. Not only are there more witnesses/testimonies, but they are occurring present day, and we could go interview the people who have the claims. The reason nobody believes the abduction/sighting stories is that they don't have any evidence of any form, other than stories, to back up the incredible claims. I'm not saying that this falsifies their claims, simply that it gives us no us good reason for believing in them.

If you believe that learning through reasoning and using evidence is against your worldview, or is a world view, then you are the one who has received improper teaching.

"EVERYONE who has lived, is living and who will ever live, knows that God exists!"
I'm sorry but that is a very untrue statement. If that was a true statement then why are there Hindus, Buddhist, Taoism, Efik mythology, Jainism and so on and so on. These people are worshiping gods but not the Christian God. Most people believe in some sort of god, goddess or gods but "everyone" does not know that God the Father, Jehovah, exists.

When he says at 7.35 years and years of human progress i had to laugh at that. The world is getting more evil every year.

Im trying to be honest with my self and with others. If it doesn't seem that way, im sorry, but all I know is that there is a God and he is coming soon and he is going to bring justice to all the evil that is happening in this age. Please give God's word a chance with an open mind and look to Jesus for salvation, not religion. I did that mistake when i was catholic, then to Jehovah's witnesses, which i learned was a cult and contradicted the word of God.

Well, if you don't believe his word then it still leads back into not believing in God. No, to your second question because God's word gives us meaning to our life, a hope of everlasting life, and you just don't go around interpreting the bible the way you want. Scripture interprets scripture. I know their are differing views when it comes to the scriptures, but that is also because of imperfection.

It's a good message at the end but It's all too new-age-y without pointing out sin (and/or being enemies of God) and the sacrificial death of the Lord Jesus Christ for sin for the salvation of ones soul from God's righteousness (wrath) and hell.

Seek God. If you want God in your life, you’ll have Him. If you don’t want Him in your life, He goes away. Either way, God gives you what you want. If you turn to Him and pray, you’ll find the Savior Jesus who will live in your heart, mind and soul

It should be self evident why these arguments are hostile to God. You can't have a debate or argument if both sides agree on the subject. There would be no video. The reason that some people debate him is that he sets himself up for debate. Further it is for the theist to argue that there is a god not the other way round, the theist makes the claim he has to back it up with evidence.

Whether or not atheists are intolerant would have nothing to do with whether or not atheism is "self-defeating". Atheism would only be "self-defeating" if it made self-contradictory claims, which is doesn't.
It seems your posts are just poor attempts to string together (what you consider to be) biting rhetoric. Unfortunately they end up looking like a school child's attempt to use words he doesn't understand.

Cliffe needs to use the 10 commandments to show the sinful nature otherwise these people will not see their need for a Savior

The problem is that atheism has no doctrines or dogma, so your claim is nonsense.

Okay so this is bullshit. When the student refers to culture he means the entire world. Cliffe and every single person who has ever been just like him mean the small area around an individual. It's bullshit. That's it. Getting tired of hearing the same shit cliffe. Work on it. It's getting boring.
Also, stop trying to act superior and smart. You aren't. I'm sorry but you aren't. You are just spouting out what every single major christian defender is spouting out. Then when you get called out you say "That's not what I said.". Decide what you want to lie about and stick with that cliffe.

jerry Guerrero Who cares what you think, if we live in a relative mindset and we live in our own reality to find what our meaning to life is.

    • @timh2235

jerry Guerrero You worked it out, it is a statement. A question has a question mark at the end of the sentence. I didn't think I'd find another primary school kid on youtube how's Mrs Guerrero? She was alright last night when I visited, she kept screaming jerry, didn't think you two had a thing. Your own mind is relative, do you really need to let us know what you think? There is no purpose to life, we are random particles in motion, why tell us that the video annoys you? It's just chemical reactions in your brain. Is that how you find meaning to life? By having a critical response to peoples video? What you project, you will receive. Have fun living.

    • @Josuke126
      @Josuke126 9 ปีที่แล้ว

Matt Law Okay, fuck you. No I don't need to let anyone know what I think. I felt like I wanted to do so, so I did it. We aren't just particles in motion, we are evolved beings. That's like looking at a cat getting run over and it's owner crying then saying "Why would you be saddened if it's just particles?". We have feelings and not everyone is a nihilist. The statement "There is no purpose to life" is bullshit. There is no predetermined purpose to life. We are forced to come up with our own. If you are going to be that much a dick to literally think I'm finding my meaning in life by posting this then go hang yourself. I didn't insult you or your intelligence, I asked about your wording since I know sometimes people can forget to put the appropriate signs when typing online. I find my meaning in life by living it just like anyone else. Stop thinking anyone who isn't exactly like you is a nihilist.
