  • Cliffe Knechtle has a good dialogue with students at Northern Illinois University. Recorded in October 2012.
    The "Give Me An Answer" ministry began as an outgrowth of the dialogues Cliffe Knechtle has had with students on various university campuses throughout the United States. These universities include the University of Maine, Harvard, MIT, University of Florida, University of Texas, University of Wisconsin, University of Minnesota, University of California Los Angeles, University of California San Diego, Berkeley, Stanford, University of Hawaii and the University of Washington. Cliffe spoke on these campuses in front of the Student Union or Library at noon for five to ten minutes. At the close of his initial remarks, he'd open up the time for questions and answers, which usually turned into a two to four hour dialogue with students. His crowd size ranged from 25 - 500 students at a time, and between classes, new students would join the discussion. This was an extremely effective way to reach a large number of university students with the Gospel of Christ.

    You can sense the moment when people stop and really start to think, it starts to make sense then it snaps back. Many times they go back to denying the truth because the truth would make them care, they’d have to wake up, they would have to admit every time they were wrong and every guilt they have rationalized and that is just too scary for them

    Creation testifies of a Creator, so we are without excuse about God's existence. Many followed Jesus because of His miracles, then abandoned Him at the cross. Evidence is not the issue, but submission is the issue.

    • @SuperYGOD
      @SuperYGOD 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I am skeptical of most so called miracles, but God can do as He chooses.

    • @SuperYGOD
      @SuperYGOD 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      *****
      I like evidence too, and I cannot find scientific evidence for the origin of life or the first cause of the universe. Both of which appear to be designed,, and the odds of randoms pass impossible. It is more reasonable to have a Creator, than random unguided processes.

    • @SuperYGOD
      @SuperYGOD 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      *****
      Your question of the eternal existence of God is not new. All things that were created do indeed call for a creator, but God is not a created being. Time, space, and matter came into existence along with the natural laws at the same time, so the Creator cannot be bound by any time, space, matter, or any of the natural laws.
      Our universe had a beginning and will have an end, but God will continue to exist. He is the Beginning and the End. Nothing can exist apart from Him. He is Spirit and Truth.

    • @SuperYGOD
      @SuperYGOD 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      *****
      I make claims that we get from science by using logic. For God to be a created being, He would be have to be material. God is Spirit, Truth, and would have to be Immaterial.
      I am using basic logic. Either God exists or He does not exists. We cannot have both, because of the law of non contradiction in logic. I cannot prove that God exists, but I also cannot prove that you exists. This could be an experiment.
      I take what I am given, then form the most reasonable conclusions.

    • @SuperYGOD
      @SuperYGOD 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      *****
      Logic, math, and love are immaterial but we also know that they are real. When we look at a person from quantum physics, we are very much like pixels, molecules in motion. We have a brain, but we also have a mind, and a conscience. We have been spending much time on a person's gender, sexual orientation, and even race, but none of this should matter. We are all human, and these differences exist in the mind.
      There is no doubt that God exists in the hearts and minds of people, but we still see the evidence of His creation.

      jARRAD It was a good argument between both, but Cliffe is a fucking idiot. Religion and deities were a justification of how things work..... WAY back then. Now we have science to actually study how everything truly works and it has very promising results. Religion is still around because mommy, daddy, grandma, grandpa, etc.. filled their children's innocent, defenseless heads with the old beliefs of how the universe came to be and then those children pass it down from there. I respect people with religion. I have no problem with them believing what they believe. I don't argue with or insult them. Unless they do this street preaching stuff and try to force their opinions onto others. Just have your Richard Dawkins-damned religions to yourselves and be done with it. It was Cliffe who started this, not the other way around. And the student he debated with had VERY good points that burned down Cliffe's points.

    • @jmrbug9623
      @jmrbug9623 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      jmrbug 96 I do admit, Cliffe had better arguments than most Christian people. It was a great debate. But he probably should've gone to NIU himself because his "Logic and wisdom" is pretty backwards.

    • @JM257
      @JM257 9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      jmrbug 96 First off, Cliffe is one intelligent man. Science cannot explain everything, you know. God is intangible so He cannot be explained by Science nor can he be proved or disproved.
      Cliffe is not about forcing his own opinion on anyone, he doesn't asking anyone to become a Christian or go to church.
      It's a little insensitive of you to call Cliffe "a fucking idiot" because he "preaches in the street forcing his own opinion onto others".

    • @jmrbug9623
      @jmrbug9623 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lol he shouldn't be on the campus in the first place if he isn't trying to start trouble my friend. Sure science can't prove everything YET. But we get more and more answers everyday. It's time to let go of the 'Assumptions' of how we all came to be form the ancient days and turn to science which has PROOF. I guess we can both agree that Cliffe has his shit down. Like I said, he is the only Christian I have seen so far to put up a good argument. But he has never looked at both sides like we Atheists do. If he has, he wouldn't be going to a campus and starting a ruckus. That's the only reason a street preacher can be there. Why would someone assume Christianity is the correct religion? Why not Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Janeism, or Taoism? No matter what religion you are in, it will always "Make sense" because that's all you listen to. Did you know 90% of Jesus's stories are copied from the Egyptian god Horace? I bet Cliffe doesn't know that either.

    The big guy really makes good point. And I think his points are to an extent valid. In the end, it comes down to whether you believe the evidence stacks up and whether you stick to your level of enough evidence. To the preacher's point however, if you do not commit to anything, you fall for everything and I think that is exactly the big guys challenge and probably where he will be on his way to. In the post modernist society, that is indeed the problem. Shifting values. Like the waves in a pond, open to the ever shifting winds of change. Must congratulate both though on a very civil discussion. Thanks guys.

    The preachers best argument is to belittle and attack the big guy. The preacher has faith in himself as well. He trust his own brain and it says to believe the Bible. The big guy was rational. The preacher was arguing from emotion. Why was the preacher so taunting? It’s like he really didn’t believe what he was saying and had to convince others to convince himself.

    my biggest question is how can he say that the gospels were written 20 years after the fact of Jesus' ascension.. when we do not have the original manuscripts. if our closest evidence is 20 years then he should say "the closest evidence we have is 20 years"
    can someone plese respond to this with some clarification? thank you!

    Actually, that piece from 1 Corinthians 15 is dated within 5 years of the crucifixion by many scholars, and some claim it could have been as early as 1 year.
    3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, unworthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

    Assuming that the historical Resurrection accounts could somehow not be true simply because they weren't written down for 20 years commits the classic logical fallacy known as "Argument from Silence," and logical fallacies like that do not hold any credibility.

    Awesome message at the end. I feel sorry for the guy in the video. His comments and objections are becoming all too common among "new atheists". It's frustrating when I know more about the great Atheistic philosophers of history than they do. I wish Atheists would be consistent.
