My identical twin brother passed 11-17-2023.. He introduced me to Hootie and the Blowfish... Time is Soo Precious and Important!!!Wish I had More time with Him!!He was not only my brother, but my best friend!!
I can't imagine what a horrible loss it would be to lose your twin. I believe he still keeps tabs on you will be with him again one day.

These guys popped out of nowhere and zoomed to the top of the charts. They also picked up a few Grammy's along the way. Darius sings with more feeling than anyone.

I was around when Darius Rucker lead singer of Hootie and Blowfish were breaking on the scene, they were an alternative Rock band in the 90's. He is a genuine nice guy and a good friend of one of my best friends. You will not find a more authentic kind man! Just a great person, and so talented.

I seen Hootie and the blowfish at a place called Jeremiah‘s in Charlotte North Carolina a long, long time ago. Before they were famous, it was a place to showcase upcoming bands. I actually had a cassette tape that I paid three dollars for they had this song on it while they were there. I wish I still had that thing. It had hand written on it, their name, and, the four songs that were on it. It’s obviously something they made themselves. They were putting in the time and doing the work to make their dream come true.

Had the pleasure of meeting Darius Rucker in 2008, absolutely one of the most gracious people I've ever met. A down to earth gentleman in all respects.
One of the top artists of the 90's! Yes, what a voice. I don't know why I thought of this, but I always remember the movie "Jerry McGuire" and these kids come up to Cuba Gooding Jr.'s character wanting an autograph, "Are you Hootie?" "NO, I'm am NOT Hootie." lol

Ive liked this band since they came out. My friends and I would all get together and sing the songs lol. This is one of my favs from them. Good stuff.
Omg I remember my sister playing this mixed tape before they ever made it to the radio. I'm from south Carolina like them, so I heard of them long before they ever made it. I still recall the first time hearing them on the radio and my entire family was so happy for them.
I saw these guys at a club in Pittsburgh about a month before they hit it big nationally.
They had such a good sound. I wasn't surprised at their success.
One of the funnest shows I've ever been to. Shoreline Amphitheatre sometime back in the 90s. We were up on the hill with 100s of happy people.
What a Voice love Hootie especially when im on the road their hit look away is something else.

I think y’all would enjoy a lot of their stuff. I’m a weirdo who likes their follow-up album a smidge more than the monster debut album. My favorites though off Cracked Rear View would be “Not Even The Trees” and “Drowning.” They still sound great. If you can swing getting to see them live, GO!

At the time, this would've been considered just "rock" or "alternative rock". I can see why people today would think "country" because the face of country music has changed. I refuse to call it country because I'm old and stuck in my ways. :)
This entire album of Blowfish stuff ("Cracked Rear View") is terrific and is still on the list of best selling albums of all time.
I thought of it as Country Rock
@@rhondaatkins1776 Regardless of what any one individual thinks, if one went into a record store at the time, they would never have found a Hootie & the Blowfish record in the country section. Likewise, none of their songs ever charted on country radio. Their songs charted on the mainstream rock chart and the Hot 100 (pop). This is rock and roll.

@@poolhall9632 Maybe live the other guys sing but it sounds like the Darius singing both parts of the verse harmony on the record. That's a very common practice. The chorus could very well be different guys.

It's been almost 40yrs now that I first heard Darius's voice when he was just a college kid at U of S.C. and playing gigs in bars around 5 points in Columbia. 40yrs! There's some TIME for you! Darius is a special talent. He could sing the phone book and it would sound great.
