I’m a 56 year old white librarian, and this is my karaoke go to.
And I bet you bring the house down when stage!
@@Smokie_666 unless I follow it up with Montell Jordan’s THIS IS HOW WE DO IT.
Don't call it a comeback...you've been here for years :)
@@ejmoscato366 I really have.
The whole beef between him and Kool Moe Dee "How you like me now"
LL early hits are bangers💯💯💯💯
Produced by the great Marley Marl 💥💥💥
Going back to Cali, etc etc I waited at warehouse records to get his tape! That’s how old I am!
@@beesnort3163 wow
@@beesnort3163 Bikini small. Heels tall. She said...She likes... The ocean.
I had 4 grand kids when this came out. They would all sing. Grandma ,s going to knock you out.😂😂😂😂. It was so dam cute. 💞💞🎶🎶🎶
Nobody shut this off back then. Metal heads, hip hop, even people who never listened to rap. Knocked it out of the park.
The legendary Marley Marl on the beat
When ppl thought LL COOL J went soft and lost his edge... he came back with this jam... 🔥😎🔥
Asia was feeling her, some LL Cool J! 😅
That was 1990, the last wave of the production style that started around 1986.
Always do what mama say. It’s a lot more peaceful if you do.
You good Asia!? That was funny as hell. BJ caught her.
Love the beat!!!🔥❤️🔥 never knew this song but LL he be cool 😘
LL Cool J got his big break when Adam Horowitz (Ad Rock) from the Beastie Boys, going through demo tapes scattered on Rick Rubin's dorm room floor in NYU, found it and made Rick listen to it.
"I'm That Type of Guy" is still filthy af. 🔥
I remember being a senior in HS and this was my FAVORITE song! Also gigantic crush on LL, still do! ❤
Mama Said Knock You Out was released on September 14, 1990, by Def Jam Recordings. It was promoted with five singles, four of which became hits: "The Boomin' System", "Around the Way Girl", the title track, and "6 Minutes of Pleasure". The album was certified double platinum in the United States, having shipped two million copies. According to Yahoo! Music's Frank Meyer, Mama Said Knock You Out "seemed to set the world on fire in 1990", helped by its hit title track and LL Cool J's "sweaty performance" on MTV Unplugged. The title song reached number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified gold by the RIAA. LL Cool J won Best Rap Solo Performance at the Grammy Awards of 1991.
I play this when I am at the gym, especially when lifting.
In the late 80's Kool Moe Dee vs. LL Cool J was so fun. Straight up rhyme battles. LL was and is just a great personality.
Oh hell yeah! I'm a metal-head and I have always loved this song! It's got the same power and drive.
When LL did his Finding Your Roots, they found out his mother was adopted. They didnt know before that. Through familial DNA, they found his mothers parents. Turned out his grandfather and great uncle were boxers. The first thing he thought of was this song. Its a pretty cool episode. They showed him meeting his family and all. Worth watching. This song never gets old. One of my favorites. This one, "Jingilin Baby" and "Round The Way Girl" were my jams!! Beastie Boys got him his deal. Old skool hip hop was the best.
The "LL Growl"! - All of his best songs are him getting hyped, loud and growlin'!
Kool Moe Dee was considered the the first to start battle rap. He was considered the GOAT back in the very early 80's. LL came out in the mid 80's and was hot from day one wirh my radio. The two had beef. That was a response to Kool Moe Dees How Ya Like Me Now.
LL has always been known for his lyricism since his first album.
LL was very popular in the late 80's, but maintained popularity in the 90's. This was around the same time rap was starting to get big in the West Coast (just after Too Short's Born to Mack, Hammer's Let's Get it Started, Ice T's Power Eazy E and NWA). LL still maintained his NY style which hip hop was always centered around lyrical skill.
Asia great reaction i can see the ol school smile. Huuah
I remember some little kids was singing this song 1st time I heard it, awesome cool jam yeah 🤘😆👍🎤
I'm a 53 yr old white dude and back in the early 90's I had twelve inchers in the back and a couple Bazooka base tubes in the trunk that got a good workout with this jam.
Same age. Even me as a Malay Singaporean, grew up listening to this banger. ✌️🇸🇬
Ladies Love Cool James = LL Cool J 💜😎🥰🤘🔥
Ah yeah, I had this album on cassette when I was probably 15?
We would see him and his crew back in the 80s at the Diner on Merrick rd in Rosedale.
Red Audi,red Kango,Giselles and all.
Title cut from the album. The whole album was fire--so many hits. Funny you mentioned the "fighting " feel to the lyrics and delivery...that's kind of what the album titles about... moma said knock out the haters...
Love this song...Thanks for your reaction! Check out Going back to Cali as well....Bucket Hat, shades and a Vette!
There is no way you've never heard this mega hit before...
this song was a diss to kool moe Dee, they had a ongoing beef for several years in the 80's.
And "To Da Break of Dawn" was about Kool Moe Dee, MC Hammer, and Ice T.
Where's Old Drill Sgt. 1987 Ft Benning this kept us moving.
Yesssssss!!!! Cuz mama said so thats why..punk! Lol. Nice AnB! ☘️
"The Power of God" from the same album is a very underrated jam.
I was 10 years old when this came out 😊 im 44 years old now
This came out during Mike Tyson's prime, it became his un-official theme song.
BJ, absolutely astute!❤❤❤❤
The greatest of all time
LL was the man! Please listen to the Enchantments “Where do we go from here”.
His third crossover onto the pop chart.
First was "I Need Love", then "I'm That Type Of Guy".
Three very different songs, all great in their own way.
"Around The Way Girl" would come next, different again...
His MTV live version is my favorite. Performed with a live band instead of tracks; changed the vibe a bit.
I remember the vinyl being mastered really quietly, no knocking anyone out with it.
great song
He knocked out an intruder. 😜
Oh LL was so fine and I was in love with that boy
The Ladies Love Cool James
🔥
It's been a long time since you reacted to Angelina Jordan. She had a concert in Las Vegas on Feb.29th. this year on the same stage where Elvis did over 500 shows and she killed it ! She's also been working with Toby Gadd on new material. Y'all really need to check out her new stuff. she is killin' it!
Awesome.
LL Cool J comes from that 2nd generation of Hip Hop Known as the B.boy Era between 1984'' up to 1988'' 89'' And between these years It was'nt a such thing as beefin In Hip Hop On wax yet at this time. Between these years Hip Hop was still In its kiddy stages And that Is why Hip Hop in the 80s sounds innocent And fun. But don't get me wrong LL was not a battle rapper, He was very lyrical And that was 1 of Elements Of Hip Hop Especially being a New York based rapper in the 80s And 90s.😎
Huh? No beefing on rap during the years of 84-89??? Dude.. You had UTFO beefing with Roxanne Shante and over 100 dis songs after that. You had multiple female rappers going after Shante and her going after Salt N Pepa, MC Lyte going after Antoinette, Kool Moe Dee vs LL, The Juice Crew vs BDP, Ice Cube vs NWA. There was plenty of beef back then, and a few altercations, but not as bad as we have it now.. maybe that's the point your are trying to make.
Awesome 💯🔥
This was when Mike Tyson had taken the world by storm and was the champ for a couple of years. Boxing became realllllly popular because of it.
😍 he's so dreamy
……back in the early 90’s,
Mike Tyson used this track in multiple walk ups entering the ring before his biggest fights ! Great memories 💪🏾❤️🔥
Go Cut Creator Go by LL Cool J is another good song
Asia 😁😁😁😁😁😁
That's a battle song to Kool Moe Dee 🔥🔥🔥
LL was so young my Corporal lived next door to him in Queens , talked a ton of shit.
❤❤
4:47 Had? I still have a crush on LL Cool J
Angelina Jordan, Bad Valentine ❤
This song was legendary at my high school, even if there WAS only one black student between all four Classes.
🤣
Dance club favorite. I haven't heard this in decades, thanks for doing this one 😊
I dream about our babehhhh lol
I'm Bad is a banger too.
Some Boot Camp Clik. For the people album 🫡

can you reaction to the song birds of the feather by billie ellish
If you don't mind me asking I was wondering why a lot of your reactions only show the lyrics. Is there a reason? Because I watch the videos on youtube but you only show the lyrics. I'm not dissing I'm just curious. You guys are great. I was just curious because I would find the video on youtube and watch it but I said to myself "why didn't they just use the video instead of just the lyrics?"
Toronto Blue Jay hat. Are you Freak'n kidding? Wow!! 😎 From a 70 yr. old Torontonian, to u lovely people ✌❤
LL cool J before the juice 😅
