This was written by Brian for the movie “Highlander”, a mid-80s cult classic fantasy action thriller. The song refers to an immortal who must watch his mortal wife grow old and die while he lives on. Queen wrote the entire soundtrack; the songs are on their “A Kind of Magic” album. Check out the movie. “There can be only ONE!
that‘s a matter of perspective. he‘s been always surrounded by other singers and has learned from them. furthermore there‘s no better trainer than an opera singer with much more experience than any teacher who you are singing with giving you advice. that was montserrat caballé to freddie mercury. by the way he indeed got also regular music training by one piano teacher in his early years.
@@greenogre22You're misinterpreting Montsy's and Freddie's relationship. They admired each other greatly for their own styles. He didn't learn from her.
@@greenogre22No he didnt. The only formal vocal training he had was a short time with the school choir. He was self taught on the piano as well, so in not sure why hes been with a piano teacher.
I was at that Concert. I was 17. I still get goosebumps watching/hearing that Concert. What a truly beautiful song. Knowing what was around the corner for Freddie makes it all the more poignant. 😢😢❤️❤️
Me too my 1st ever concert, I was 17 too, just an absolutely fantastic show Queen put on that day, Freddie had us all in the palm of his hand. R.I.P. Legend
Freddie was nothing short of spectacular!!!! There is know other way to explain it. He puts his heart and soul in everything he does. R.I.P FREDDIE WE MISS YOU WE HEAR YOU SINGING FROM HEAVEN
Go watch the film "Highlander" this was part of the soundtrack and has far more resonance in the film , grab tissues .... The film is from the mid 80s , but is fabulous , also stars Sean Connery
I understand the reason because Freddie Mercury wasn't very determined to do the Magic tour. for more experts you can see that Freddie has much more difficulty and it is not difficult to understand why by now the disease was already starting its course and the throat was the first thing he was taking. It's incredible and astounding how much this man has done live on this tour, incredible how he has carried the weight of the performance, the weight of opening his voice. His courage, his determination are inspirational and a phenomenon!
I think about his last days when I hear this, also I watched the Highlander series and admit I cried and had a golf ball knot in my throat. Love you Freddie
I was working at Wembley for this concert so though I didn’t see the whole thing I can at least say I was there and watched them perform a couple of songs. The song is from the movie soundtrack of Highlander and the lyrics will make a lot more sense if you watch it
My (step)dad introduced us to Queen when we were kids & we listened to it all on vinyl. One of the best bands of all time & Freddie Mercury is one of the best vocalists out there.
ONE OF THE BEST ROCK BANDS EVER !!! FREDDIE MERCURY IS A LEGENDARY SINGER, PERFORMER, COMPOSER AND HUMAN BEINGS. YOU MUST EXPLORE SOME MORE. THIS CONCERT IS EPIC. THANKS FOR SHARING !!!
This was part of The Highlander soundtrack. Written by Brian May, who sang the first verse on the studio version. Brian had the voice of an angel. The montage in The Highlander, where this is played, is heartbreaking. Normally, I'd recommend the live versions, but the Official Video is just spectacular.
Great reaction, thanks! This is my second favorite performance of this song. I think I like the live performance of this in Budapest slightly more than this one but this one is excellent. This entire concert at Wembley was fantastic. Freddie sang in choir in school when he was young but no formal training. He did spend a lot of time in the studio working on his voice and listening back to get the vocals the way he wanted when they first started recording. I think he learned a lot from that, learning not only how to produce the sounds but how to manipulate the microphone. He learned to use his breath and body position to produce tone, texture, and most of all passion to match what the song required. I don't think there is anyone better than Freddie when it comes to matching the vocal style and emotion to the music and lyrics.
I think you would enjoy seeing queen when they were young. Sp Liar the rainbow 1974 isthe one, this is the song that made me a fan, all those years ago. Each shine in this, you will see how talented they were in their 20's. Enjoy xx
This is one of my favorites, written by Brian for the Queen Soundtrack for the movie Highlander. The main character in the movie was immortal and his entire life had been spent watching himself never age and all those he had loved grow old and pass on, so this is what inspired Brian to write this song. Freddie was never trained as a singer, he taught himself to sound the way he wanted to sound. Freddie never learned to read music so even as a piano player, his training was minimal and he was never classically trained in voice or piano. It is crazy to think that all this talent just came to him naturally and so it was for all of the members of Queen. Thanks for reacting to this one.
You might want to go and watch the official studio version of this. It's got all the studio production qualities that you'd expect from Queen, and it's beautiful. But this live one is just as powerful.
I remember watching Highlander and this was one of the songs played...almost like a theme. The meaning of the song fits the movie so well and add so much to the movie too even. Its such a haunting and beautiful song, Freddie always sing with so much power and passion...I love it! W reaction lol can understand u guys didn't pause, the song takes u away and before u know it...its done
This is my best live Freddie vocals though all their lives are super. Thank you so much for your love of Queen. You're such a lovely couple. Freddie said he was in love with love so he would smile at you two. Please do "Father to Son" or "White Queen" live at the Rainbow 1974. Cheers
I was so excited to see you had a new reaction, I just rewatched your One Vision live at Wembley reaction last night! I always enjoy your reactions. Asia you are absolutely beautiful, I love the look on your face when you're watching Freddie sing.
Must be the BEST BAND EVER!!!!! Naturally Freddie is the main character ALWAYS but never forget, Roger Taylor, Brian May & last but not least John Deacon - just incredible 💝💝
Music from one of my late dad's favorite movies, _Highlander_ . When I was 13, none of us knew or cared about someone's sexual orientation, we just loved this music. I think maybe my stepbrother asked whether Freddie Mercury was gay and my dad said, "The name of the band is Queen. Think about it." Oh. Great reaction, Asia & BJ!
Hi , You two Beautiful people. ..subscriber here.. Thank You , again , for display yet another great song that I would not normally find. Great choice. Great reaction! 🙂👍
Fred didn't have any training, if you watch this concert, you'll see how much he can do with his voice impromptu moments from the two concerts were slightly different on each night, he would do it live and with Exercises In Free Love record. This song was written by Dr Sir Brian May for the film Highlander. They also have a Rock and Roll segment probably about ten minutes long with none of their own songs, again these songs changed over the years, but were ones you might recognise, as they were by artists they grew up listening too
I sure am happy not to have missed this.😊.....You guys and your reactions, honestly..... you guys are individually impressive in your honesty, maturity and humanity. Blessed to have found one another. . To me you are the perfect grand children. I am 77 and was a fan of rythem,&. blues, and some of the rock. Like a music lover. Then the world lit up, musically🔥...I mean the flood gates blew open in the 60,s..,& if you mix in some of those mind expanders. I wouldn,t say you would ever want your kids to go that route, but,I can honestly say, what a time to be alive & young, and hey living by the beach in So. Ca. And hey,the music just kept comnig ,punk, reggae, grunge, what a trip.Soooo, wanna say I love you 2 beautiful young people. ... 3 together...4 each other.
Thanks, kids! Check out Brian on those keys.. (official video starts with Brian singing) before switching to guitar.. this song was written by Brian for the soundtrack of the movie "Highlander"... Freddie's vocals are amazing, as usual! appreciate your reactions...
So emotional knowing Freddie isn't here he didn't get a chance to live a long life but through his music he will live forever! Her name was Montserrat cabelle -Barcelona He wasn't opera trained just talented. Now you have to watch Highlander. Also check it's a kind of magic, princes of the universe from the soundtrack. Also watch flash gordon they did the soundtrack to that too. There can be only one!
This song always remind me of my first true love. Becuse we never should've broke up and stayed married. I miss her to this day. Felt like there was no time for us.....now I'm gonna cry. damn it
I really want to plug an Artist I've fallen in love with in the last two years. Andrew Cushin. While it is far from his most popular song, my favorite of his is "Broken Love Song." He recorded part of his debut album in the same place Queen recorded Bohemian Rhapsody. Happy belated birthday BJ!
I have always loved this song.... the album it came from was a cracker.......thank you for your reaction... always a joy to watch you. I would love you to react to the song the band did after he died about him - "No one but you (only the good die young)"
He was afraid to fix his teeth because he thought it might change the way he moved his jaw. But again, he never had a voice lesson. Totally self taught. He stopped his piano lessons because he could not read the music as fast as he wanted to play. He played by ear and never felt he was good enuf. He composed almost exclusively on the piano but also composed some riffs on the guitar and some songs.
Brain May the guitarist would regularly pop into my restaraunt, a cool down to earth very normal and kind guy. I have since moved away across Europe miss the much to do about nothing chats.
Highlander is one of the best movies from the 80's. It had Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery and Clancy Brown in the cast. Side Note: Clancy Brown does the voice of Mr. Crabs in Spongebob. 😮
On that day, Freddie almost didn't make it because of a throat infection. He almost called it off. Thankfully he went ahead even though he couldn't hit the notes the way he wanted.
You didn't forget to stop, you were mesmerized like anyone else would be. You can't stop a song like that

I still have A Kind Of Magic CD
I still have all of Queen’s original vinyl albums.
That's my go-to Queen album!
He’s not opera trained, he was just that talented.
Still can’t listen to it without crying
There's nothing more hypnotizing than Freddie/Queen live, but this concert is called one of the best of all time for good reason.
Freddie was never vocally trained. Just naturally gifted, the whole band was! Thank you for reacting to this, it always gives me chills.

I attended both nights of the concert on Friday and Saturday 11/12 July 1986. Still the best concert I have ever been to.
My sister and I were there both nights too! Fantastic shows!!! ❤❤❤

Hypnotizing performance of Queen, thanks for reacting "Who wants to live forever" ❤
Iconic performance
One band i would've truly loved to see live
Asia & BJ, you'll love their "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" !!!
It took me a full 1.5 decades before I realized that is Brian singing the first verse.

thanks for making my Friday night. My favorite reactors reacting to my favorite band.
I was there. July 1986. What a gig. An amazing day.
There is/was no performer like Freddie Mercury. It's hard to pinpoint exactly why but the guy was so different and excellent.
Music from one of my late dad's favorite movies, _Highlander_ . When I was 13, none of us knew or cared about someone's sexual orientation, we just loved this music. Asia and BJ should have been suggested Rock it (Prime Jive). It's classic 80's and people sleep on it. It's a great tune.
Definitely miss y'all doing the Queen videos! Thanks for this one.

Hey, you have to react to Queen Live Aid Concert!
You must watch the movie “Highlander” now. They did the soundtrack for it. Great movie!!!
I like this Wembley Queen concert with this song. But the Queen Live in Budapest '86 concert is the best. 🙏
Highlander is one of the best movies from the 80's. It had Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery and Clancy Brown in the cast. Side Note: Clancy Brown does the voice of Mr. Crabs in Spongebob. 😮

Fred was not opera trained! His family had alot of opera records at home and he came to love it, but was not opera trained.
Remember - this is LIVE
Y’all GOTTA watch Highlander now. It hits you like a ton of bricks in the movie!
Freddie was never opera trained he loved opera.
