It was 1979 and he won the grammy for best new artist and for his debut album "Cross Words." His other hits were- 1.Ride Like The Wind. 2.Arthurs Theme. 3.Never Be The Same. 4.Think Of Laura. 5. Swept Away. 6. I Will Take You Forever. 7.All Right. These songs need to be reacted to. You will be pleasantly surprised.
"CHRISTOPHER CROSS" is the title of the debut album by CHRISTOPHER CROSS
Crosswords was the title of a Christopher Cross 2011 compilation album.... definitely NOT his debut album
Swept Away never charted. Take you forever made the a/c charts, but not the pop charts. Say You'll Be Mine was a top 40 hit, as was No time for talk. Charm the Snake made the Billboard pop charts, as did A Chance for Heaven. Loving Strangers made the a/c charts. He had 2 songs in the 90s that charted in Germany, In the Blink of an eye and Been There, Done that.
Arthur's theme is my fav by him.
You can never go wrong jamming to Christopher Cross...I've been rocking to his songs since the 70's...An awesome talent.
It was 1979. I was 14. It was the first day of summer break and I was sleeping in for the first time in months. My next door neighbor’s open window was a driveway away from my open window and he was playing this song.
It was the most gentle wake-up I’ve ever experienced and I’ll always have a soft spot in my heart for this song because of that memory.
What a vividly wonderful description of this song. I try not to label anything just as nostalgiia, but that moment in time... the simplicity of life in 1979, the purity of how music was crafted.... you have a perfectly good memory to hold onto.... congratulations.
That's the beauty of a great song.
I remember the moments I heard all the great songs in my life.
"Burnin for you," Blue Oyster Cult, little league baseball, 1981...
I lost my little brother 12 years ago. We played this song at his funeral and I cry every time I hear it. But I love it.
Lost my little brother also......... in 1981, I picked this song for his funeral as well. 40 + years later and I'm still listening to this song thinking of him.
The correct term for this Song is "Ethereal" ! I remember this as a kid and would day dream to it when it came on the radio. By the way Christopher Cross is from Texas too!
Beautiful song. Amazing singer.
No other song ever sounded like this ... 5 Grammies! Want to hear another song with Christopher Cross's beautiful production: "Ride Like the Wind."
Absolutely sublime sound, nothing like it any more.
Watching from my boat here in the keys. Just watching another gorgeous sunset. This song reminds me why I choose to live like this
I love this song. It makes me feel relaxed and serene
Sounds amazing man 😊
One of the best songs of all time. Transports me back to specific time in my childhood, wish I could go back
One of my favorite songs of all time. It's a song when you close your eyes you can feel the ocean
LOVE this song! 🤎🤍✌️👍
Once upon a time, there was music..that took you places. ❤
Christopher Cross wrote this song to express his love of sailing and how it made him feel.
Listening to this, with closed eyes, you get the feeling you are on the water. The piano is the waves against the hull. The violins, the wind. A temporary release from the tassels of life.
Love this song. I can't think of too many songs that better help you relax.
If you cannot sleep, put on the headphones and play this song..............
Asia & BJ, you’ll like his "Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)" and “Laura”!!
“Ride Like the Wind” is a very different song with a special guest background vocalist.
@@stephentaylor6617 yes it is. you may know, they reacted to that song Sep 3, 2022.
But they should watch Arthur first!
@@surlechapeau Surprised that it took them so long to do a “Sailing “ reaction.
Yes you will!!❤😊
That smooth 70s sound... close your eyes and go on your own tranquil journey 😌
This song reminds me of being young, living life with my parents who are gone now. My mom loved this song. Makes me cry every time.
Thanks guys probably my absolute favorite tension relieving song God bless you and may your path always rise up to greet you!
Great song to just sit in the dark and listen and relax
When I came to America years and years ago my friend and I drove from Los Angeles to San Francisco listening to this album. Absolutely had the best time ever. Listen to Arthur's Theme "when you drunk between the moon and New York City" brilliant.
Love from London to you guys. Jan 🧡
I was living in CA.
when that song was out.Good
Memories ! Loved
It there😊❤❤❤
Pure feel good song.❤Oh yeah.🙂
I'm with BJ when he mentioned the thing about ''Decompression.'' We all need to find a way to get rid of daily stress that slowly overwhelms us.
This song is the epitome of the genre called "Yacht Rock." When I hear this song, I definitely visualize myself on a yacht sailing to the Bahamas, etc.
"Christopher Cross" is the reason I have a love for sailing today what beautiful music "2024" Royal Caribbean here I come again...
The man simply writes and performs beautiful songs.
This is one of the few songs that I can play in the background and still concentrate on what I'm doing. What a coincidence...been listening to this song lately...great reaction!
My husband and I owned sailboats for years. Sailing was a wonderful way to decompress. When the wind was at your back, you put your Mainsail starboard and your Genoa to port. It's called going wing and wing. It is absolutely silent as you glide over the water. Because your moving with the wind there is no breeze. We would play this song and many others like it and it was magic. I'm glad you found this one.
This is one of the best of all time for me, you can't beat that sound, it takes me back every time I hear it.
Yacht rock at its finest
I think this song is why it’s called Yacht Rock. Even though it’s about a sailboat. I don’t know why I think that. I have a Yacht Rock playlist on my phone.
That's what a great tune can do to you 😊
This is the best song to wind down after a rough day. It always makes me feel better. ❤
Every time I hear this song, I can’t help but feel so blessed to have experienced it back then and feel so sad for those times at the same time. 1980 was a very special time in my life , so exciting to come of age as a 20 year old and see the world change as a new decade began. The 80’s turned out to be a very special decade , so blessed to have experienced it!
Super relaxing and soothing music and vocals. Great.
Asia is so right.
My favorite song of All Time.
This is the only perfect song ever written, sang, produced, composed…
This song can change my entire day if I need it.
Fabulous choice
Great song, bought a boat when it came out.Love the memories, thank you for playing it.
Incredibly written song. It's been one of my favorite songs since I was a little kid. I would hear this song and just go to a different place while reading books at night.
⛵This was one of my husband's favorite songs to play on our day cruiser or when he was working on his catamaran. Good days!⛵
Love his voice ❤❤❤❤
GREAT song. Just incredible. And it does take you away, at least for a few minutes.
I still vividly remember walking into the Goldenrod Music store and hearing this for the first time.
The instrument was a 12-string guitar, which was very popular in music back in the 1970's. One of my all-time favorite songs.
Yup great song. Came out on my spring break in Fla. what a time. ❤
For someone like me who was raised on the beach & spent my free times on a boat - this song always takes me back to that simple time.
I've sailed many times on Lake Travis here in Austin, and I've listened to this many times over the past 44 years, and it's peaceful.
Nothing takes me back to 1980 faster than this epic song. Not really my style but it really is utter perfection.
This song always takes you to the simple times! ❤❤❤❤❤
I absolutely love this song!❤ And Asia and BJ, the canvas certainly does miracles. I've had the pleasure of sailing a few times and it is so beautiful and tranquil. It definitely takes you to a different place. I hope ya'll get the opportunity to truly sail one day. You'll never forget it. Looking forward to hearing more of Christopher Cross.
...fire one up, turn this on, and go...was such a special time for music, every variety...his 1st album is Priceless, Every Single Song...give it a listen listen then decide...it gets called yacht rock now, back in the day was just music that touched you...and no matter how hard you were struggling you got a break...YES! Asia just nailed it! It takes you away! Love you guys, keep on keepin on!
Ride Like The Wind from him is fantastic!
I heard exactly what you said Asia! Back in like 1981 Rollerskating around the rink to this song with the disco lights softly illuminating the rink at the age of 13 that’s exactly how I felt then and this is the reason I watch these reactions now! To relate (if only for a moment) to that fresh feeling through someone else’s eyes! Thank you both for the lovely reaction!
Thanks, that is why I watch these reactions...well written.
My favorite song of all time.
Arthur’s Theme by Christopher Cross is just so beautiful
This entire album is so good❤
My 3 favorite soft rock songs...
1) Sailing (C. Cross)
2) I'm Not In Love (10cc)
3) Human Nature (M. Jackson)
Now i have to make a playlist for this type of mellow groovin'. There are alot of great great songs that make you feel this way.
Shout out to Beverly Hills HS. Cool and unique school colors.
That picture was the OASIS BAR AND CANTINA ON LAKE TRAVIS IN AUSTIN. MY brother and I would sail his catamaran their. A lot of good times!
its interesting you guys did this today. This song has been floatin around in my skull for like 2 weeks now. Wonder why?... hmm.. Ive liked this song forever. And everything you said Asia is exactly how I feel about it. The free flow of relaxed energy..wtvr it is... I been feelin it for awhile now. Thnx guys! Peace and love as always!
OK...I had to come back and edit this...Asia, BJ was right. And the last few moments of the video clinched it....'asthetic' LMFAO!!
Still beautiful after all these years I wish I could go back when this song came out it was so nice the kids today really missed out 😢😢😢
Gives you that like a feather or butterfly feeling, as if you could be that physically care free.
Couple others with that feeling, Micheal Franks, "dragonfly summer" or Minnie Riperton, "edge of a dream".
Love this album, all great songs. Thx
During this time frame, Cross held his own in the Soundtrack game.
Especially along side the late great Dudley Moore with movies like "10" and "Arthur"
Love this song always been one of my go to songs to relax. Just close your eyes and drift off.
If my memory serves me, it’s a song about art. As a Floridian, it reminds me of being a kid and teenager with long days at the beach.
Love this song...standing on the beach in florida with sailing coming through my ear buds ...😊
Such a beautiful song!❤
Patty-I would like to add Ride Like the Wind to the list.
It’s really peaceful and relaxing tune. It takes me back to easier times
One of my favorite songs! My family already know to play this at my funeral ( not to get morbid) Beautiful Song! No arguing ,you guys need to listen to the song again lol!
This is one of my all time favorite songs. Also, check out the song, "Smooth Sailin'" by your fellow Texan, Leon Bridges.
This is my favorite song of all time! It’s the only song I can listen to over and over again and never get tired of hearing it.
This song chokes me up in a beautiful way.
My favorite song of all time. My best friend is always saying you play this song taking me back to the late seventies 😂😂😂😂😂
A little history on how Chris play guitar for Deep Puple once when they were touring and their guitar ply was sick !!! You never know we’re some of there’s artist stated!!!! ❤😂
Every time I hear this song I sit back and close my eyes and the stress just melts away.❤❤❤
My aunt played this song as she walked down the isle when I was about 5 years old. 1987 I believe. When I was in high school NSYNC had just come out and if I remember correctly on their first album they did a cover of this song and I was captivated once again. Harmonious songs like this are rare nowadays but I know you’re a few years younger than me and may like to listen to that as well. It truly is a beautiful song
Asia nailed it. It takes you away. He wrote the song about a family friend who would take him out sailing when he was a kid.
This is such a wonderful and soothing song,I used to sleep with this on.
For a multiple Grammy winner, he is highly under-appreciated to this day. His music can be both catchy and relaxing, but it is always a treat to listen to. Check these out:
Minstrel Gigolo
Think of Laure
All Right
Never Be the Same
The Light is On
Arthur’s Theme
Baby Says No
No Time for Talk
One of my favourite songs gives me the chills
The great producer Michael Omartian had his production fingerprints all over this effort to ENHANCE an already great song writing genius of Christopher Cross. Great song. Great album!
Great reaction to an artist that some don’t know. He has some great songs. Arthur’s Theme is another one that just makes you feel good and smile. Thanks for this share! 🤓🤠❤️
Won like a boatload of Grammy’s for this and the entire album. I believe he set the bar for most received. Great choice👌🏻
Still one of the most relaxing, feel-like-you’re-on-the-water songs ever
Christopher Cross is a very great guitar player and a nice person.
My very favorite song when I was first dating my husband in 1980. We’re going on 42 years and this is our favorite romantic song!
This song takes you to paradise ❤
Asia I have the same feeling ! I’ve loved this song for years ❤
This song makes me feel like I'm floating in the air 😊
Aye, I know yall been doing this for a while, and I’m the CritiquelChannel.
So I’m going to be Critical here.
I love what you two are doing, for more of the relationship between the two of you that registers into the reactions. And I pray that you two keep it up, to as high as you both shall prosper. That’s honest.
My friend.
Perfect 👍🏻 👌 A very relaxing classic song
Wonderful song from the past. I listened to this a lot in the 80's as a teen.
One of my favorite songs of all time❣️
Calms my mind down and has gotten me through some of my life's toughest challenges.
Niceee vibes and feeling all kinds of beautiful-ness right now🥰❤ Absolutely loveee the music 💯 🎶🔥🎶
I love this song ... I love to Sail znd have been fortunate to have learned.
Have always loved this song…from a little kid
Quintessential Yacht Rock. The music just puts you on a swaying boat with a drink in hand.
Check out his "Ride Like The Wind".
they did Sep 3, 2022
This guy not only wrote great songs and has a great voice but he can flat out shred on the guitar like nobody's business.
Beutifull soothing flowing great music guys thanks😊
