    Excellent video, thank you. I just replaced my cam seals and it looked like my VVTi gear was leaking oil as well, so I am putting the new O ring in it now! I'm happy it was only like $15 for the VVTi gear rebuild kit vs the price of the new gear

      @@TunerwithKids Thanks man. I'll be honest I realize I'm dumb and I think I fucked up lol. Before watching this vid I had taken off the front plate on the gear to start the job, without realizing I needed to mark the exact alignment of that plate like you said. So my gear goes back together fine and looks fine, but do you think my timing would be off because of this? I may just replace the whole gear..

    At 8:45 you mention a seal on the internal piece. That's a very important seal - if its compromised, the internal gears don't keep oil on the correct side of them and is the reason these gears wear out. It is a wearable part and is not available anywhere.

    • @danielkuchler8097

      Do you know if this seal is "split" on purpose? I recently pulled my pulley apart and found this seal to be split but it appears to be in a very uniform diagonal way. My guess was this is normal as it allows the seal to be fitted/removed. I hope it's not broken otherwise I'm buying a new pulley and starting again 😢

      Yes, its split on purpose, it allows it to expand kinda like a piston ring. It still wears over time though and I don't know if anyone has ever done testing to determine how much wear is acceptable. That's why I've just taken to replacing these

    I have a misfire on all bank 1 cylinders upon starting. IAC within reference @27% , Installed New Vvti's and screens, all new vacuum hoses, and a used ECU. If I lay on the gas for about 15 seconds the misfire goes away and it purrs like a kitten from then on. 10 minutes later it does the same thing. All I have is an evap incompl, and 02 f/s incmpl following clearing codes. Could this cause that issue? Is it possible a cam sensor can cause this? I also read somewhere that in the ECU there are two transistors T1 and T2 that run the vvti's. Is it possible a transistor can be finicky when started? I'm ready to torch this thing. But unfortunately to my upmost frustration, oil has once again started to leak from the pulley area. I'm so annoyed that I'm gonna have to start all over again, or is it possible that the O-ring has just not seated properly and I'm still getting oil passing through the pulley? Oh boy I hope Lexus fixes that...
    Every other component is EXCELLENT!

      It’s a rubber seal. They eventually fail. Lexus solution is to replace cam gear.

    Does anyone know If that o-ring also works on the VVTI gear for the 4.7?

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably not. Cam gears differ from engine to engine.

      The metal/rubber gasket is for the outermost cap for the gear. The one that uses the 14mm Allen key.

    hi how are you ? I need some advice . where can I buy Cv Axle Assembly, Rear right and lelf ( Front ), that is affordable and good quality

    • @TunerwithKids

      EЯиʂɬ CV axle for front? For RWD IS300? Axles can be had at your local auto parts. Bring your old axles for core trade.

      I’d recommend ordering some new ones online. Pretty cheap. At advance auto, shipped to home with “coupon25” discount code, it’s only $70 with tax each for front and $100/ea rear. No core trade needed.

      Could I remove the center piece without taking the entire sprocket out of the car? Saw another video and he just took the 5 10mm bolts out. Is that also a possible route?

    • @TunerwithKids
      @TunerwithKids  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No!!! Do not follow that video. I watched it and cringed 😬. The timing gear must be put back on mark with the lines you scratch beforehand. Also the O ring will be hard to keep in place horizontally. If it falls out of groove as you tighten, guaranteed leak and needing a new O ring. Remember this O ring wasn’t intended to be serviced, factory wants you to replace the whole gear. We are side stepping to save $150.

    Hello friend. I give you a thump down because you never showed the complete removal or installation of the VVT-i gear. It would help if you showed the positioning of the camshaft and completed the installion
