    • @SokhomGarage

      No, because im not exactly messing with the timing, and the the timing belt stays intact, it doesn’t come off, but yes, you can set it on the timing marks for safe measure.

      good idea as that will allow you a small safe range of counter-rotation until BTDC if you have to fight with the large hex cover. I've seen them so tight that the cams move ccw.

    Out of curiosity the inside of the cam gear has oil in it did you fill it back up if so how much did you put in

    • @SokhomGarage
      @SokhomGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So yes, it did have oil, but it didn’t continue to leak once you’ve taken it off, you might lose a few ounces or so, not a big deal, but you can also determine that by checking the dip stick, check the level to make sure it’s good.

      @SokhomGarage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’ve had this for a long time from Lexus.

  • @joecox9958
    @joecox9958 ปีที่แล้ว

    which manual you use? there are serious errors. The five 10mm is 11ftlbs, 14mm is 60ftlbs - the 60ftlbs is from genuine manual.

    • @craigwalsh8116
      @craigwalsh8116 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      60 ft lbs is what the internal 10 mm hex bolt is torqued to. That holds the intake pulley to the intake camshaft. The 14 mm is just to seal the front of the VVTi gear and it's torqued to 11 ft lbs (page EM32 in FSM). Since he is not removing the VVTi gear (you would need to remove the timing belt to do so), the internal hex bolt does not need to be removed. As for the five 10 mm bolts, there is no "official" torque for them since the service manual simply states to replace the whole VVTi gear if it is leaking. 11 ft lbs is the consensus in the forums though.

    • @To15n25
      @To15n25 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      WAIT!!!!....what?? Who is correct? The "genuine manual" is correct or has an error? Another guy says different torque on different bolts. I'm in the middle of this O-ring replacement and don't want to create a problem! Who is correct and how did they know this? Thank you in advance.

    • @To15n25
      @To15n25 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I am leaning toward @craigwalsh6118 comment because I would be surprised if those (5) outer 10mm bolts would need 60 ft lbs vs the internal 10mm that holds the intake cam gear to the intake cam shaft or the 14mm outer cap hex which is only for sealing pressure. ( I may not be using proper Toyota/Lexus names for the parts, but I understood what Craig Walsh was describing. Thank you in advance

    • @SokhomGarage

    • @kidicarus2637
      @kidicarus2637 3 หลายเดือนก่อน
