    Thanks so much for the review of the base model. I think this trim looks the best, with the smaller 16" alloy wheels being the perfect size wheel for this size of car (IMHO). About the only detail you left out is the limited paint color choices for the base trim: black, silver, dark blue, and pearl white.

      I love the way the 18’s look on the next level trim, but I hate the way low profile tires ride. I’d prefer the 16’s as well, but then Mazda doesn’t offer AWD on the base model. I think I’d take the base model and get some winter tires if I felt I needed the help.

      If I had the money, I'd get the trim level above this as a sedan still and swap out those wheels for the 16" - those look perfect on this body style

    The base model has the superior interior because it gets rid of all that nasty gloss black on all the other trims. Although I think it's a huge mistake to not give the base model android auto and apple carplay especially with that big screen.

      Agreed. With Mazda moving upmarket, the lack of AC and AA is surprising. Also surprising is the lack of active safety gizmos on the base car. Even a Civic LX comes with adaptive cruise and lane assist these days. Not to mention the plebian Corolla. The lack of said features on the Mazda wouldn't be so glaring except they are purposely trying to become the poor man's Audi, hence details like this contradict where they are trying to position themselves.

    • @xanaduzu5150

      @@rabbitruck I hear the 2020 Mazda3 will get active safety gizmos as standard on the base model. They're reading your mind.

    Tomorrow I'm getting the model and color shown in the video, but I really wanted the select model FWD and that perfect red color. Too bad the dealer didn't had it. They tried to sell me de 4WD, White color, but for the amount of cash I needed to pay, I said no.
    Once I get my car, I will add spoiler and the Mazda 18 inch rims if possible.

    What I expect is a manual transmission for that price would be nice in the base model

    Lucky for your market having the 2.5 l engine for the base model but in my country sad to say Mazda will still bring the 1.5l engine for the entry level and even the upper trim I guess it will only be equipped with the 2.0, I wish this things will change in other markets.

    • @PCMazdaReviews
      @PCMazdaReviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh man, I can't imagine having the 1.5L engine. The smallest engine the US market has run for the past 5 or so years is the 2.0L. Wonder why they wouldn't at least make it an option. What country are you from?

    I was eager to take a look at this car when it was first available. Crossed it off my list due to the tight rear seat. I'm 5'10", pretty average guy. With the driver's seat adjusted for me, I could barely fit in the rear behind myself. Really cramped back there. If you're a single person or a DINK couple that never hauls anyone in the rear, it would be a great car. If you have the need to haul rear passengers, the surprisingly poor rear legroom is probably a deal breaker. It was for me. Unfortunate.

    • @PCMazdaReviews
      @PCMazdaReviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do feel like the back seat is smaller in the 19 versus the prior year models. The front seats gain that lost space though so it is definitely something to consider when looking into the car.

    Does the Base model have a key ignition? Mazda's website doesn't list the base model as having a power start button but the Select, Preferred and Premium all do but if this one is the base model it looks like it has a power button start.

    • @caramia9756
      @caramia9756 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If that's the case Mazda needs to update their website because from the looks of it, anyone who reads the specs on the base model will see that there is no push button start listed. Must have been a typo or rather forgotten piece of information.

      If you have ever been in one of the prior year models this one will blow you away. The old mazda3 was so loud compared to this one. They have really stepped up their game and made it possibly one of their quietest vehicles in cabin.
