Thanks Kevin for this video - certainly it enabled me to replace the clutch on the same model which we have. As an amateur this ended up taking me a total of 24 hours after hitting a good few challenges, but got there in the end.
There are only a few people with such skills and determination, you are one of those. Total respect Sir and hope that you reap the rewards from your hard work - amazing!!
These videos show you how to change a clutch and the cars to stay away from or get rid if ya have one just incase the clutch might need doing one day, think I would rather do a mini clutch than one of these, my god the amount of work that went in to this respect to you Kevin 👍👍👍👍👍
You sir are a legend I just used your video as a guide to change the clutch on my galaxy spot on work one complaint you made it look easyer lol thanks for this video
Why am I fascinated by a man changing clutches ? maybe it is because I cannot do such a thing and respect this chaps hard work... looking forward to the next one sir x
I do them occasionally in the same manner, maybe like once a month over the non-winter months and I can tell you it's freakin hard work. Kevin does it day in day out, that's really tough.
Very well done and a great video 😊 The only thing I would have done differently is to use an ordinary manual torque wrench on the flywheel- and clutch bolts. My S-max is waiting for the same operation..
I also did it the same way after watching this a few times and hit plenty of amateur problems 😆 got there in the end though - after 24 hours worth of work 😂
I also bought the Milwaukee ratchet.. this was one of my best decisions ever made! Very nice tool! Milwaukee in generell is always a good choice Cheers ✌️

That regards bushes not balljoints and more specifically bushes which are mounted vertically . Tightening balljoints and horizontal bushes does not require suspension load only vertical bushes due to their movement.
great job Kevin, I think when ford put this one together they new only a ford specialist or a high spec garage can do this kind of work but they didn't think about Kevin-Albert Williams did they😁 say no more sorted👍👍
hi Kevin just another day at the office eh!! Looked very fiddly ford didn't make it to easy for the mechanic, but you always win through, great stuff,, keep up the great videos, and respect.
Makes my life in a shop look like a vacation, very nice work! What do you do if you find a large leak, faulty flywheel or slave cylinder or other damaged parts while doing these clutch? Say a broken or very worn out ball joint, CV shaft?
I'm going to do the same job on an S-Max 1.8, 2008 model. I assume it's pretty similar to what you've done? Some recommend taking down the entire subframe, but it looks like I don't need to? I'm also planning to convert to an SMF. I hope there won't be too much vibration. My local Ford workshop said I could do it, and that they have good experiences with it.
Getting horrible flashbacks to the worst job i've ever attempted on a car, our 07 2.0 S-Max! On our drive as well... took me about 3 days (half a day to work out how to disconnect the gear selectors!) to get the box off and I couldn't get it back on, called in a mobile mechanic instead I was knackered. I took the subframe completely off, didn't realise you could do it with it on! That would have saved some time.
What was this one Kev 2 hours to get to the clutch 10 minutes to change another 2 to put all back together lol .Nice job mate. Thats what put me off alot of jobs back in the day why couldnt they all be like the Vauxhall Astra and cavalier 20 minutes max😁
Oh wow Kevin you are like a SUPERHERO.. I’am amazed on what you have been doing.. and the impact drill.. could you please tell me Kevin what is the exact name and the brand of that Big and Small impact drill. Please please please.. you take care SUPERHERO 👏👏👏👏
new diesels have a very high torque on low rpms and the dmf does take away vibrations that causes. i have put smf in some cars and they gets some vibrations but they last forever.
Hi. I know this was awhile ago. Very interesting watching and thank you for sharing, I`am just about to do this on my 2007 Galaxy 2.0tdci, i have one question if you don`t mind, I noted that you didn`t use the special clutch plate tool, was this because the clutch pressure plate is brand new out of the box and was it already pre-set ?. Many Thanks.
Hi Kev I thought with all Ford subframes ( Mondeo Galaxy ) etc you have to use the Ford reline pins or else the subframe will be out of line afterwards...
Very true if you’re removing it completely. The trick is to leave one bolt firmly in place. Then it will remain exactly where it came down from when you push it back up..,, you’re with me
G'day Kevin I really like watching your videos it's remarkable how you have to on some cars remove so much to be able to get to the clutch, just curious as to how many cars would you work on in one week? Good to see you again stay safe kind regards John PS what was that hose for?
Hey Kevin have you done a clutch on a 2,2 Ford smax diesel ? Im half way through mine and im struggling for clearance for the removal of the DMF, thinking of just doing the clutch, DMF seems to be ok.
Kevin, the clutch pedal on my 2011 SMax sinks to the floor and doesn’t spring back. When the engine is running I can’t get it in gear, when it’s not running it goes into gear. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. It’s a Sunday and nothing is open.
that’s exactly the fault I had on my car and it turned to be the slave cylinder. Followed Kevin’s video to the letter but because my car is a 2,2 the gearbox is a lump compared to the 2,0 and I’ve barely got clearance. A couple of subtle differences. The slave cylinder/release bearing was shot (knackered). Good luck with whatever you decide to do, although I’m sure you’ve already done it.
why didn't you change the crankshaft seal? it is not an expensive part and since you changed the clutch it costs nothing to change it to avoid future oil leakage problems, hug
I would never replace a crank seal on its own as that’s bad practice. As it’ll be temporarily masking the issue., and deceiving the customer. If that seal leaks., equals = movement in the crank. Replace main and big end bearings. Then replace the seal = Job done correctly. Otherwise it shouldn’t leak. It’s constantly coated in oil so it shouldn’t go wrong. Simply = you wouldn’t have blisters if you’re wearing the correct size shoes.
