Thank you so much for your honest review! I saw some other reviews and I was like "WOW, this looks just too good to be true!". I've got a pair of hyperdrum sticks and I have the exact same problems you have with the pocket drums. It's still fun, but it's not what some people tell you to expect from it. @@KeithronPowell I didn't buy it. You talked me out of it with the part about beginners learning bad habits. I'm just looking for an affordable hobbyist starter setup that won't annoy my wife and kids. I really appreciated your review and your ethics in trying to be fair. I could see how badly you wanted it to work and how hard you tried to come up with a use case in its current state. Maybe it will be something useful in version 3 or a firmware update.
I really appreciate your honest review. The point about Bluetooth latency makes a lot of sense, something I hadn't thought about. I was just about to buy one for my husband but decided to check the 'Tube to see what real folks have to say about it. I'm VERY grateful for your video - you saved me $200. Another reminder to always use logical thinking and reasoning when presented with something that appears too good to be true.
I was going to buy this. Saw a different post and how cool it looked. Guess I'll continue to not have drums in my Apartment 😢 Really appreciate your video! Saved me Money!
I was gifted this. You're absolutely spot on. They need to make a lock on the drum location and it would be nice to set the drums where you want them. What if the drummer was left hand dominant? They should commission some tour drummers to work with the designers, in my opinion
Good video! This is an idea we WANT to work, but it doesn’t deliver. Maybe V2 or V3 will improve, but it’s tough to play a beat without the tactile feedback of hitting an object - no bounce - no feed back - not like drums at all. I’ll stick with finger drumming on a Launchpad 😊
We bring instruments into addiction treatment centers to do group jams with the patients. We only have so much room in the car, which is already packed to the brim with a variety of instruments every time we go. The past few visits one of the patients was crazy energetic with the practice drum pad, making everyone else more confident with their instruments. That patient is leaving soon so we were trying to figure out a way to incorporate drums moving forward without limiting ourselves to a drum practice pad, but also knowing we don't have room to bring a full electronic drum set. I appreciate your review. As a nonprofit every dollar counts and it would have been disappointing getting this and not being able to use it effectively.
okay, so, i saw this video after I ordered this was really worried. There is a learning curve. I have had this for about 3 weeks now and I am getting the feel for it. This is not a replacement for a drum set, but I have found it helpful in my own practicing when I can't get to a drum set, but need to work on learning a song. I was just playing/practicing with the aeroband pocket drum now and closing my eyes really helped me with the position of the drums. If you bought the product give yourself some time. I am finding that as my skills using this increase I am enjoying it more and more. This is definitely a different type of drumming. And being able to hook my iPhone and headphones to this a play along to youtube music is very convenient for me.
You are the goat, awesome. I do electronics and I did my own version of the air drums, however every now and then it needed recalibration. I thought i did a bad job. But seeing your review on the commercial one, mine actually did better. Thanks for the honest review!!
It’s was when it was first released. I was one of the first reviewers to receive it. I waited 5 months to release this review and what made me do it was all the reviewers lying about it. I’ve spoken to many people that have purchased it more recently and they say the same thing.
I always had this grippe for music you want something fast like wifi, microwave or something efective also relying on angles and 0 visual queues it is hard, keep the good work KP
I had a completely different experience. It works well, and I can play full songs, like 6 minutes, without having to calibrate. It took me a while to get used to it, and I’m not a drummer-I wasn’t used to real drums before this. My friend, who is a drummer, couldn’t get used to it. Maybe for those who are used to real drums, it’s harde
So they make a product that actual drummers can’t use because we know what a real drum should play like? That only proves the product is useless. It will never teach someone to play. We have what’s called muscle memory if the product can’t function properly it’s not “harder” for us… it’s a defective product.
The problem that many people have is that they don't know how it works. The system doesn't detect the position of the drumsticks; the only thing it knows is the angle at which you strike. Therefore, trying to 'aim' at the correct spot is never going to work. The blame lies with Aeroband for not clearly specifying the usage in the instructions. Because it's logical for a drummer to think that the position of the drumsticks is fundamental when, in reality, it's the least important factor.
Here’s the thing… I’m an actual drummer. I got it to work… for a few seconds. If you’re going to market it as a drum alternative and show drummers playing THEN THE DQRN THING SHOULD FUNCTION PROPERLY! It’s a piece of crap that doesn’t work. You may have gotten a pair that does… but I had mine for 5 months and they didn’t function more than a few seconds without needing to be recalibrated. I waited to release the video because I didn’t want to just trash the company… but when I saw so many people lying and promoting them for the money…. Which they offered me before any of these dudes started with their videos. I was the first person they sent them to. When I saw them lying… I released the videos. If you watched the video I had to record it 9 times before I could release it. That’s because my wife said I was being too harsh. I was going off on everyone of these other reviewers and the company too. So, they don’t work and if you got one that does thank God! Because I have 2 and they’re both trash.
@@KeithronPowell You are a good person. More humans like you should live on this planet. Thanks for taking the time of making the video and also answering peoples questions like mine!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO - I wanted to get his for my husband, he sold his drum kit & I wanted him to have something to have fun with & still somewhat play the drums but that recalibrating issue I just know my dude will get so frustrated with it lol it would achieve the opposite of a chill nice relaxing activity for him, again, THANK YOU.
Yeah… don’t frustrate him with this. It’s just not a good product. In another video I declared it as the worst product I’ve reviewed all year. I also do Amazon reviews and this is still the worst!
I seriously need to look at review videos BEFORE I spend 200 dollars... Literally everything you mentioned is what I'm going through. I had to leave a 1 star review to start balancing those numbers out. I just need a regular set at this point.
Do you still have it? Try playing with the mindset that the system detects the angle instead of the position of the drumsticks, and you'll progress very quickly! Cheers! And good luck!
So true. I bought one and found it was a waste of money. I tried multiple times to get a hold of them for a return. They finally got back to me after the cutoff date for returns. They wanted me to make a video of me playing to make sure I’m doing it right. Also told me I would have to pay the shipping to get it back to them. So now I’m using it to show people how bad it is so they don’t waste their money.
Thanks for the honest review. i had just seen this product yesterday and it looked so cool so I had to check out if anyone did a review on it because I wanted to see if any pros and cons. It looks so fun but disappointed that it isn't all it's cracked up to be. Guess I won't be getting it
Hopefully they fix the issues and make a better product because the idea of an air drum set is so insane. I can only imagine a concert with these drum sticks alone.
I wish i had seen your video before the purchase! I got this for my boyfriend which is learning the drums and i found this a good idea to make sure we wouldn’t disturb the neighbours. Problem: he’s left handed. The description of the product said it would work for both handlers. I was hoping we can still make it work for left hand, since we weren’t really able to test the product due to the fact that we have no idea how to put it for his left hand. Do you perhaps know how to do that? Just so we can at least try it…
Send it back! The product is not going to teach him to play and likely won’t work properly and will frustrate him. You can get an entry level e-drum that won’t bother the neighbors and he’ll be better off.
I wondered the same thing and thought that you maybe swap the sticks to the other hand and swap the bass pedal with the hi- hat pedal and if it would electronically correct the problem, would that work? Plus how does the bounce work with no surface contact for rudimentary rolls?
I was thinking getting this to practice, I used to have an acoustic set and I recently started playing for my worship group. I can go practice on the set at the church but I kinda wanted a way to practice at home. Oh well lol
Ok ...I was stoked on this as I could get in some quick recording or practice...I live in a apartment and can't be on the kit when ever I want...big mistake ..as said it won't stay programed...thought it was me then saw this vidio..thanks.. saved me a bunch of time...I would not recommend this as drumms but a novelty that ..kina works....
Brother I already ordered it because I don't have any room in my apartment, I thought it would be cool for begginer to have some reflexes before sitting down at real drums 😭😭😭 You could have saved me 250 dollars If only I had come across your video earlier, damn. Anyway thank you man
Thanks for this. Thought it might be handy as a birthday present for my brother but it looks like it won’t end up being that useful. I’m thinking I’ll get a cymbal or something else he can use for his actual set instead.
Thank you so much for your honest review, not like others just say really good, fantastic.. something like that. This is really a product review we want, tell us which is good and which is bad.
Hi Keithron, Thank you for this very informative video my friend. I only wish I saw this before I purchased them. I've had them for 5 days now and I probably will return them. I got more frustration out of them than enjoyment. I can't even get the stupid app to connect to the sticks and I've tried everything. I've watched all the videos on how to connect them to the app etc . I can hear and play the drums without the app but they are also frustrating as you have to keep calibrating them. I think they could be a good product, but they need to improve them a bit more, especially the app. Thanks again and all the best..... John C.
Whats funny is that my app doesnt even open, i connect the drums and then it says made by unity and a gray screen, i had to download the app like 3 times in order for it to work
Yeah, the app sucks and needs a major overhaul. I returned mine. Just using the Pyle PTED07 tabletop drums for now. Check out a recent video I did using them. It's a cover of a song called "96 Tears". Thanks and have a Happy Thanksgiving. All the best...John@@steven317
respect!!! I noticed that any drummer using this product even when it works right, sounds like a terrible drummer. But then I checked other videos and those guys were really good on regular kits. Overall a great idea but still too early to be functional.

@@KeithronPowell He has a full drum kit. My parents actually used to own a music store. But I thought the sticks would be good for low-key playing along with his daughter when she plays the guitar.
This kit was a gift, so I really tried to get it to work. 1st off, the app really is as bad as you say - totally confusing and it just keeps repeating how to calibrate. I am flummoxed as to how to use them and believe me, I've kept trying. Very very disappointing, thanks for confirming that it's not just me!
Hi! Thanks for your review. I am thinking of getting these for my 11yo who drums on a set . A lot. lol he happens to be getting pretty good. Are these a good investment? Is there another brand you recommend? Or should be keep going on the big drums? I was getting this for Christmas.
So there's a field in tech called UX, or "User Experience" - if you really want to improve a product (any product, not just this one) go to the company and find out who their UX Researcher is and sign up to do UX Research as a participant. We, in tech, that do this kind of work, thrive on the participation of folks like yourself who care about experiences as much as to put yourself in the center of everything that is designed. I loved your review of the product, of the site (and the runaway marketing ploys) and the dysfunctional app. This is a sure sign that the company more than likely has *no one* doing any research or measurement on the user's experience (or it'd have been vastly improved) TBH, these sound and act like something one would've gotten at Radio Shack back in the day, do they not?
As a former employee of Radio (management) I will say the do except they’d work for at least a month (just past the return deadline) before behaving like these. Honestly, I think working with them to better the product would be great but I don’t have time. I cut this video down from its original 20 minutes… because I just didn’t think anyone would want to watch it… I also recorded it a total of 9 times. The first video was a angry rant and my wife told me nope! It still took 8 more tries and a massive edit to get this version. Why? Because this product could be better and they’re lying. The reviewers are lying check out the company videos… I’d love to know how many takes the reviewers needed to get a perfect one. If I could do a worst product of the year this one would get Bronze, Silver and Gold!
Man I had the same issue with mine too and I was hoping it would go away. But it kept happening when you go hit one thing something else is played. Example you hit the hi hat and it’s the snare, you hit the ride and the it’s the crash. And yeah that app sucks. I never had a good response with that. I was hoping they would release some kind of update or patch?! But nope. It’s unfortunate. And I don’t think anything else is out there that is better unless it’s a real set. But let me know if you do know of one?
I was sent another set by another company…… 🤨 notice you don’t see a video on that one… not about to waste my time making the same video again. I’m just not about repeating myself. 😂😂😂
Was searching for this typa review because i was sceptical asf when i saw every video was like it works well and was flawless and shix.. lol Thanks, Love from India 💜
Yeah, when I first got it there weren’t any videos out… after waiting 5 months to release my video I started seeing all the lies and had to release it.

Hi Bro, how to connect it to garageband on ipad via midi bluetooth, my pedals shown connected successfully but do not work, had no sounds, the drumsticks work well in GB? The same issue when I connect via bluetooth software (midi bluetooth), the sticks sound great, but the pedals have not. Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you so much.

Wow you didn't get that for free then lol. Awesome review. I almost spent money on that crap but was dubious that the site was even real lol. Thanks for that honest and great review.
Do you think this is good for someone like myself who only wants it as an aid to programme midi clips in productions? I don’t play drums, and I hate drawing in midi notes and I’m not too fond of keyboards.
"Most of all is... Buy it... You shouldnt buy it" XD brutal but refreshingly honest. Thanks for not chasing the easy money bud! Saved me 200 bucks! Thanks!!
👍🏽😂 yeah… I was being nice in this video. I recorded it 9 times. My wife wouldn’t let me release the other 8. I went off!!!!! I was ticked because I started seeing so many people chasing the dollar.
I work at a software company....this is all too common. This product is clearly not ready to market but they went ahead with it anyway. 100% this was developed on agile framework....
My brother gave me his after saying it wasn’t working great and that he tried to calibrate it but wasn’t getting results. As a non drummer, but having tooled around on drums before I can say it is awkward as all hell. Having even a pillow or something to bang on and having an impact response from striking it would be better than playing on air. A good analogy would be punching a punching bag versus punching the air at full strength. The lack of physical response changes the fundamental movements so much it might be detrimental to your real drum playing unless you have prior experience. The angles which trigger the cymbals and toms don’t seem to be consistent and the problem of course is that the drums are virtual. The tolerance to what triggers the snare and cymbals is super hard to feel; when you’re playing drums are you really questioning if your arm is at least at a 45 degree angle so a hi-hat will trigger. Dunno man, super disappointed in this product but mostly because I was excited that it would work. Also, the demo on the tutorial video for this product is completely faked in my opinion.
The only video without an "Aeroband" link in the description. Thanks a lot!
I’m not going to promote something that doesn’t work.

At some point I knew, there is no wonders. Thank you for honest review!
You’re welcome
Great review, thanks. I was really wanting something like this to work too.
👍🏽
Lol at the ending...very well done passive-aggressively, yet diplomatically saying "hell nah stay tf away!!!" 😂😂
Thx for saving me the hassle bossman.
👍🏽😂😂😂
Thank you for the review! There are so many misleading reviews and i really appreciate you doing a live demo. I thought it would be a good gift for my drummer but I don’t think it will work for his metal drumming skills. Thanks again!
You’re welcome
Thank you, you saved me $200! It was practically in my Amazon cart before I saw this.
The good news is you can return it. I was disappointed in it because I wanted it to be awesome. I had ideas for it. I wanted to use it to lay some quick drums in the studio… but nah… it’s a cool toy for parties.
@@bradjasperson134 yeah…. Maybe
thank you for this review! was going to buy it for my son for christmas but this told everything i needed to know
You’re welcome
Thank you for that review. I knew they wouldn't live up to expectations.
No problem!
Glad it was helpful!
Everything you said! They need to do something because right now they suck!
Hahaha
Awesome what you do. Glad ya didn’t go this route
Clear as water, I thought it would be like this but your video has now confirmed it. Thanks a lot!
👍🏽
Thank you for this solid product review!
👍🏽
okay, so, i saw this video after I ordered this was really worried.
👍🏽
Great review . I was considering buying it but I wait for version 3 maybe . Still looks good if they fix the bugs :)
Version 3 or 10 will be awesome
Thank you the honest review. Was gonna get it for my birthday. Saved me a lot of cash
Man, just get this guitar-center.pxf.io/q43xzY
The sound quality on your video is the best I've heard.
Thanks for the review.
All positive to you.
Much appreciated!
You are the goat, awesome.
I do electronics and I did my own version of the air drums, however every now and then it needed recalibration. I thought i did a bad job. But seeing your review on the commercial one, mine actually did better. Thanks for the honest review!!
👍🏽
Thanks for this honest review, I was going to order for it. Thanks again.
You’re welcome
Hey,
Thanks for the review. When did you do this review?, has there been software or firmware updates?
Steve B.
It’s was when it was first released. I was one of the first reviewers to receive it. I waited 5 months to release this review and what made me do it was all the reviewers lying about it. I’ve spoken to many people that have purchased it more recently and they say the same thing.
I completely agree ! Thank you for being honest !
You’re welcome
I always had this grippe for music you want something fast like wifi, microwave or something efective also relying on angles and 0 visual queues it is hard, keep the good work KP
👍🏽
Thank you! Really honest review. I have same problems... And this product imposible for playing without frustration)
The should rename it The Frustrationband 2
Yep… for a few more dollars you can get a small set
Do you still have it? Try playing with the mindset that the system detects the angle instead of the position of the drumsticks, and you'll progress very quickly! Cheers! And good luck!
yes I do and nope… I tried it for a couple days. The product sucks. I got 2 of them… the product just sucks.
Thanks, I was interested in buying these to practice at home since I don't get many chances per week to sit in front of a real kit. Bullet dodged!
You’re welcome
Yes! Thats a good way to do it.
Thanks for the honest review. i had just seen this product yesterday and it looked so cool so I had to check out if anyone did a review on it because I wanted to see if any pros and cons. It looks so fun but disappointed that it isn't all it's cracked up to be. Guess I won't be getting it
Glad it was helpful!
Hopefully they fix the issues and make a better product because the idea of an air drum set is so insane. I can only imagine a concert with these drum sticks alone.
The app does need some improvements but it does ROCK. The sticks are a little heavier than Normal Drumsticks so they feel pretty close.
Yeah… that app needs more than improvements.
I was curious how it would handle triplets? How is the latency adjusted? Maybe more improvements with Pocket Drum 3????
More like 33
@@KeithronPowell 🤭😁
Was literally inches away from making a purchase... Phewks 😅. Thank you for the honest review
Glad I could save you time, money and regret.
Big respect. Nothing grinds my gears like youtubers lying about this product, youre decent! @KeithronPowell
@@rolandparent4360 nope switching won’t work. No surface no bounce.
Thank you for the best ending to a great review ever!
😂😂😂
Keithron got a new hit single comin' out, Recalibration! lol. thanks for the review man!
😂😂👍🏽
I was thinking getting this to practice, I used to have an acoustic set and I recently started playing for my worship group. I can go practice on the set at the church but I kinda wanted a way to practice at home. Oh well lol
You can get a cheap electric set for a few dollars more

Exactly!!!
Brother I already ordered it because I don't have any room in my apartment, I thought it would be cool for begginer to have some reflexes before sitting down at real drums 😭😭😭 You could have saved me 250 dollars If only I had come across your video earlier, damn. Anyway thank you man
Send it back… you can get a small Simmons Titan 20 or Alesis set for that same amount in many cases.
Thanks for this. Thought it might be handy as a birthday present for my brother but it looks like it won’t end up being that useful. I’m thinking I’ll get a cymbal or something else he can use for his actual set instead.
Good idea!
Thank you so much for your honest review, not like others just say really good, fantastic.. something like that. This is really a product review we want, tell us which is good and which is bad.
It’s mostly bad!😂
oh my dear lord that ending with the slow pan-in.... amazing. 😆

Hi Keithron, Thank you for this very informative video my friend. I only wish I saw this before I purchased them. I've had them for 5 days now and I probably will return them. I got
more frustration out of them than enjoyment.
John C.
Yep! Exactly! The app just sucks! Return them bro!
@@KeithronPowell Thanks again, Keith Ron. All the very best...John
Try the drum tutorial on Wii music on the nintendo Wii - works great. You'll need the balance board for bass and hihat and a low input lag TV.
Or….. buy a small electric drum for a lil more.
thank you sir. I was about to order and I had these same fears.

respect!!! I noticed that any drummer using this product even when it works right, sounds like a terrible drummer. But then I checked other videos and those guys were really good on regular kits. Overall a great idea but still too early to be functional.

@@KeithronPowellBut thank you for the recommendation! I appreciate it.
It’s definitely not you
Ty for the honest review bro.
Hi! Thanks for your review. I am thinking of getting these for my 11yo who drums on a set . A lot. lol he happens to be getting pretty good. Are these a good investment? Is there another brand you recommend? Or should be keep going on the big drums? I was getting this for Christmas.
I say get them. Good price and room to grow.
@@KeithronPowell Thanks for your honesty. How do they compare to aerodrums?

You’re not wrong
I just received mine and love it
You got lucky

Truly done review..!!! It’s for recreation and fun and not any other purpose and a great thing for that purpose.
Yep… that’s what they should say. It’s a toy. But so many people are reviewing this as if it’s so awesome for so many people. I’m so disappointed in them

Stop watching the people promoting it. I saw a video and it was obviously someone who pre-recorded with an electric drumset.
Ya know…. I didn’t wanna suggest that’s what I was seeing/hearing as well but… 🤨
@@KeithronPowell Yeah man they are probably getting paid to promote it 😭My friend bought one and it had the same issues as you. Thanks for making this video so people can see what it actually is lol

Thanks for watching.
Right
My brother gave me his after saying it wasn’t working great and that he tried to calibrate it but wasn’t getting results.
That demo and many other videos if ya ask me… fake
