This seems to be working well and might be super practical for some of us drummers out there, but beware the injuries coming from not having a surface to absorb the hits after long sessions using this! Muscles, tendons and joint cartilages are suffering from a lot of stress when hitting on nothing, especially for the wrists and elbows, which have to compensate the lack of surface to stop the motion.
Yeah, because the "rebound" is caused by pulling back away from the hit momentum with your muscles, as opposed to letting it bounce back. That's actually really cool. I wonder if it would be able to to simulate double strokes. I assume not because that would be really hard without the bounce but still really cool.
That was my question as well. Throwing a pad into the mix might be a problem as I expect the sticks are not made to withstand the shock of tapping on a surface and they are balanced for air drumming.
I got my airdrums with your discount. Its really hard to calibrate it. It doesnt work so smooth like on your video ( tell me that you didnt edit the sound in that video- and its the original audio from what you played) when i am playing kick snare hihat. Its more or less fine. But when I try to go for toms it makes random hits in snare, crash, ride and god knows where else. I hope that I will manage to calibrate it right one day because now Im a bit disapointed, and I bought it only because you recommended it 💔
you need to make sure you're hitting in the right spots! also the toms require a different angle to hit them. it took me a few hours to get used to it!
If you're into edrums you'll know that this is nothing new, however, the manufacturer is stepping up the game in a big way. I might get this later on in the year or simply wait until December and make it my xmas gift 🤘
I ordered one such kit based on this video, and as beginner found it absolutely horrible to practise with. Frequent recalibration needed. Even after calibrations, lot of mis hits on the expected surfaces, because angle of the sticks also matter. Hitting the high hat imaginary surface also triggers crash or tom based on the angle of the stick, which I feel is a big drawback, and very distracting. One stick triggers tom while hitting the imaginary snare surface! May be only my kit had some manufacturing defect! Upon checking with the seller, I agreed to keep the kit only because of the nice kick paddles with a 35% refund.
i have been looking for a little practice travel kit that i could pack in a suitcase and fly with. look likes i found a category of drums i gotta to start looking through! lfg!
I discovered after some interesting research that this actually shares sounds in comon with some of the higher end low end ekits from companies like donner. I figured out that when hooking this up to midi and sending notes to it, I could get cross stick on the snare, and extra cymbal sounds. This includes the weird set up where the first crash has a clap sound on the jazz kit. I'm guessing that they used preexisting hardware , chose particular presets, changed them slightly from the actuall ekit versions, and then stripped out the general midi synth chip part in the set up because there are no practice/ demo songs. That would explain both the sound similarities and the fact that there is a second crash and low floor tom that you can't normally access, as the donner kits that use these sounds have inputs for those exact things.
is it weird not having the feedback from impact? or not being able to see the drums at all? This seems like the perfect way to finally start playing but I worry that I'll pick up bad habits and won't realize until I have access to a real kit, by which point it may be too late
Yes, air drumming is a lot different from normal drumming cause there's no rebound. If you're looking to get into/get good at actual drumming, this isn't how you do it. it'd be better just to buy a practice pad and use that.
@@gargaj I thought about that but since these are designed not to impact anything, I'd imagine they would break before long. Next thought was why not just an electric kit, but that's the whole reason this thing appeals is the idea of not having to try and make a kit work

That was my question as well. Throwing a pad into the mix might be a problem as I expect the sticks are not made to withstand the shock of tapping on a surface and they are balanced for air drumming.
Can’t believe this things real
OUTSTANDING...this is my form of playing on the kit when i cant play on the kit!.....been doing iy since 1983!...ohhh yurrrr!
Livestream kit this Saturday?
Dude. That was magic.
Drummers gonna be running around the stage like the singer soon... 😂😂
I need one brother! That's badass
Bro was held at gunpoint to give a good review
My brother got these and they sucked!
I just bought some these are sick!
@@66Samus does it have a cowbell?
the video is heavily edited and the product doesn't work anything like this
forget about the invisible boatmobile we got the invisible drums!
They had a waaaaaaay less impressive toy back in the 80s/90s. This is awesome
If you're into edrums you'll know that this is nothing new, however, the manufacturer is stepping up the game in a big way. I might get this later on in the year or simply wait until December and make it my xmas gift 🤘
I'm confused, it's not April 1st right??
Zack, you’re a little bit late for the party 😂😂😂

I love your choice of enhancement words!😂😂😂🤘🏻👊🏻🤘🏻
Same f…ing problem(( A lot of misses((
i have been looking for a little practice travel kit that i could pack in a suitcase and fly with. look likes i found a category of drums i gotta to start looking through! lfg!
"But my favorite hole..." ROTFL
I don't have enough room for my drum set, so I was given an electric drum set and now I don't even have room for that. I'll have to look into this!
Samus…you had me at “vibrating sticks”…..🤫🫣🤭😂😂😂❤🔥
1:29 We all have one.
Looks pretty cool! I'm guessing you can't do anything too delicate with this (rolls; flams, etc)
😮😮😮😮😮😮😮 I need this!!
Holy fuck ur hair is so long. I love it 😍😍
This is friggin' amazing.
Something to add to my studio without taking a ton of space. I like it.
Love this guys hair!
lmao thank you
is it weird not having the feedback from impact? or not being able to see the drums at all? This seems like the perfect way to finally start playing but I worry that I'll pick up bad habits and won't realize until I have access to a real kit, by which point it may be too late
Yes, air drumming is a lot different from normal drumming cause there's no rebound. If you're looking to get into/get good at actual drumming, this isn't how you do it. it'd be better just to buy a practice pad and use that.
@@xerox2227 there really aren't any shortcuts 🫣
@@xerox2227 Or play on a pillow so you build up your finger and wrist strength and stick control. Thats how we did it in drum line sometimes.
I wonder if this works well WITH a practice pad though... these + a small practice pad for the snare is still pretty portable / quiet.
@@gargaj I thought about that but since these are designed not to impact anything, I'd imagine they would break before long. Next thought was why not just an electric kit, but that's the whole reason this thing appeals is the idea of not having to try and make a kit work
That's amazing 😮😮😮
