    For beginners, there might be a risk of using these resulting in bad habbits. So much of drumming technique is about utilizing and controlling rebound - with the hands as well as the kick foot. With these, there is zero rebound, and you are having to stop/reverse the momentum of the stick with your hand. Doing that same thing on real drums would make things extremely difficult, and definitely prevent you from playing fast and smooth.

    • @stalj
      @stalj  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      That's true and is important to keep in mind! Any beginner using these absolutely needs to have a practice pad and regular sticks to work on their chops. These don't replace drums by any means, just think of them as an upgrade module for airdrumming - it makes more sense that way. That said, it does force you to work on wrist control similar to the pillow practice recommendations of yore, which is not entirely bad either - I've seen more beginners suffer from over-reliance on rebound than lack of it in general.

      @@stalj didn't you have problems with the sticks desynchronizing and having re-sync now and then? I found that happens from time to time and it's annoying... nothing really super important, as I won't be recording music with it, but it throws you off the mood :(

    I bought these from temu last night after a night on the beer lol but I've been worried after spending £28 on them I thought they were a joke but after watching this video I love them lol I'm jot a drummer per se, but I've always had drum machines knocking about for 30 years on studios and keyboards so I can do finger drumming and know what parts of the kit to use for what so I think I might get 9n with these as I don't want a full kit just something simple and hura I think it's going to be worth my while. I've got 3 new songs as I am a songwriter so going to record them this afternoon on my Boss BR-900 and put some drumming on the tracks when they arrive. I will be posting it on my TH-cam channel so drop in and check it out I am Justin Salmon...can't wait for my stix...

    Thank you your video was very informative I lived your descriptions and patterns that you arranged. But let's face it for £25 these are so much more affordable than a full kit and also helps with the space issues. I ordered mine last night and going to record some of my songs as I am a singer/songwriter on my Boss BR-900 CD when they arrive and after watching your video I wad impressed with them and I think my songs will be lifted with a drum track. I could use the drum machine but alit of them are too complicated to program so I'm hoping these will suit my studio.
    If you want to check out my songs when I receive the stick so around August 30 so maybe pop into my channel around September 7th and I should have them uploaded.

    Can you imagine the product paired with VisionPro, where you can map the drums? probably just a few years away. Absolutely great review!

    •  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If they allowed to map the drums using their phone app it would be great! so you can place toms, and snare and cymbals in the position you want... wow... but I don't think that's gonna happen... plus, the phone app is utterly unusable.. .it's total trash XD they work really good using the small black control center case, and they work good putting them in the line-in of your computer. I still have to try the midi mode though.

  • @PolyThumper
    @PolyThumper 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

    It looks like there's no way to map the triggers to a surface - say to a mouse pad or drum pad - right? I have to have real bounce for practice to be useful. A mouse pad gives me the bounce I need. But it would be cool if I could have different sounds hitting one part of the mouse pad or another.

    I recently ordered and used one such kit after viewing some reviews. Gave this comment in Samus's video and feel like I should repeat my comment here as well. As a beginner I found it absolutely horrible to practise with. Frequent recalibration needed. Even after calibrations, lot of mis hits on the expected surfaces, because angle of the sticks also matter. Hitting the high hat imaginary surface also triggers crash or tom based on the angle of the stick, which I feel is a big drawback, and very distracting. One stick triggers tom while hitting the imaginary snare surface! May be only my kit had some manufacturing defect! Upon checking with the seller, I agreed to keep the kit only because of the nice kick paddles with a 35% refund.

    1st, I'm not a drummer. I'm a 68yr old retiree looking to learn to play drums in my spare time (emphasis on play). I don't have any room in my house, so I bought AeroBand Pocketdrum 2. after 2 weeks I'm returning them. by the time you get to level 3, song 4, they are pretty much unplayable. I really liked the app they have, though could have used more songs at each level. but the connection issue drove me crazy! my choices for drums were the Aeroband or Hyperdrum. I chose the Aeroband because of the app. Hyperdrum comes with no app. So, though Aerobands App is good for a beginner like me, the Drums are so bad as to make you not want to play.

    • @skairkrow9800
      @skairkrow9800 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I noticed most reviewers do not use the App. they use the MIDI box that came with the kit. I'm beginning to think that the MIDI box works better than just connecting to a tablet or phone via Bluetooth and playing the app. IF that's the case I would love to figure out how to use the MIDI box with the APP on My Tablet (my Tablet has BT 5.2 so its not my Tablets fault that it keeps losing connection).

    Just got these, used them for 15 minutes.... Realized it's a scam. They don't work like that at all. There is crazy lagg between hit and sound, they come uncalibrated every 10 seconds, the hi hats don't stay open with your foot off of the pedal ( they close as soon as you hit the bass pedal ) and if you see the app, you'll know where the scam comes in to play. It's just another tap music game like rockband or guitar hero.

  • @maxpower9728
    @maxpower9728 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    This gimmicky toy is much too buggy to be of any use to anyone or even allowed to be sold!
    The calibration keeps shifting to the left (miraculously not encountered by this reviewer somehow🤔) so you’ll be hitting the floor tom instead of the snare a few seconds into playing a beat, and the crash cymbal will end up behind your head! 😁 Then you’ll have to re-calibrate the sticks but the correct drum positions will shift to the left again after a short while😞 COMPLETELY USELESS and FRUSTRATIING. Same story with the Aeroband APP.
    Definitely NOT recommended for beginners especially… will definitely create a variety of bad habits!

    Nice video... I appreciate the specifics of positioning the sticks. My experience thus far suggests I have a kit that covers about 20 square feet with cymbals 6 or 7 feet in the air. Hopefully, following your parameters will make my experience a little more realistic. Still a worthwhile video, though is seems Aeroband reimburses virtually everyone that makes the effort. I thought about doing a video of MY experience. See what they offer me...

    Anyone that puts a link of the product in their review cant speak of the detrimental flaws of the product. Its obscene to charge almost 200 dollars for something that barely works and has to be recalibrated every minute. This is not good for ANY skill level drummer. This is a gimmick/toy and nothing more. Dont waste your money on this.

  •  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Great review... I've been checking some before buying the product, and most of the reviews are in the edges... some say it's amazing, some others say it's useless. You made a balanced review with the pros and cons and who's this good for and who's not.
    I guess those people saying it's useless are senior drummers who, as you say, have a lot of muscle memory and can notice the subtleties that the real stuff has and this doesn't.
    From your opinions I get this is a good substitute for some parts of drumming, to have fun, practice grooves and specially for people who doesn't have the space to buy a kit (that's my case), so I'll give them a try.
    Thanks!

    •  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@liia_engel I see potential, but it's difficult to get used to the movements to make sound what you need ... also they tend to desynchronize from time to time, having to put them in the initial position and push the buttons... but it's an ok product... I didn't use them much since they don't support bluetooth headphones, and using them through the computer with bluetooth headphones brings lag with it and makes them unplayable. I have to buy some corded headphones so I can use them more...
      If depends a lot on what use you want to give them... I don't think it's a tool to learn or do something serious, but they're really good to have a good time and jam with music

    Hi Christal! That was the best review that I have seen for this product. I have two questions: (1) Would you buy this? You mentioned that it was given to you. (2) Do the drums come out in a stereo field, or is it mono going equally into each of the line/headphone outputs? It's a bummer that it does not support audio over USB - that would have turned it into a different animal altogether. Thanks! Nicodemus

    Hi and thank you for your excellent review. I bought the Aerodrum set recently after trying out two other virtual drum products. I sent both of them back because I could not get them to reasonably do what I thought they should do (that's not saying they were bad, maybe we just did not fit together). The Aeroband virtual drums are different because they at least are fairly predictable as to where the drums are. Just the same I find it hard to play a whole song without drums getting misplaced for some reason (I think that's called "drift"). Did you experience that, too? I'm going away by plane in June and would so much like to be able to practice the set list of a concert I will playing in in July while away. At the moment I'm afraid the songs, while not being really intricate on the normal drum set, are too difficult for the Aeroband virtual drums (in combination with me, at least ;-) Where you able to play for a longer time without (to be fair: very easy) recalibration? It would be great to hear about your experience with drift. BTW: I had the same thoughts about the bass drum "pedal" and the ride sounds. The built in eight drum set sounds are unique to Aeroband virtual drums. The other sets I tried out did not have that feature.

    • @stalj
      @stalj  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh, very good point you make there. I probably had a bit of drift but kind of automatically just recalibrated it every now and then in between playing without thinking about it, but in hindsight that's an important one to mention too. Just went to jam a (rather long) song with them while purposely avoiding recalibration to test - it was still reasonably in sync after 4-5mins, but by 7 mins the left stick was sensing the kit a little farther right than it should have been (i.e. I had to reach way to the right with left hand to get the floor tom, or it would trigger the snare). Still playable, but a lot of focus required to compensate accordingly since left and right hand have slightly different target areas! Thanks for that observation 🙏🏼

    • @SteFreeful
      @SteFreeful ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@stalj Thank you for looking into that! Maybe Aeroband will read this, too ;-) My virtual set tends to move to the left, so the snare moves to where the high hat was, the ride to where the second tom was. The drift does not affect both sticks the same either. I am only a 65 year old hobby drummer who plays just well enough to be in a band with other hobby musicians. I know my normal stick control could be much better and that playing the virtual sticks probably doesn't help. My feeling is that playing Aeroband inaccurately augments the drift phenomenon. Thanks again, have a great weekend and all the best from Germany!
