  • Just picked up a Creality K1 for some upcoming projects and wanted to share my out of box experience with it after seeing so many bad review videos. Also want to warn you not to buy from third party sellers and go directly to Creality if you want the latest updated version. I love this printer and it's 10x as fast as my old Anycubic Chiron with better quality prints. Got about 100 hours now without any issues and have just used the stock slicer with stock settings.

    I just can’t get over how fast that thing prints! Very cool, thanks for sharing. Cheers, Mike.

      It's scary fast. At start up it goes crazy and starts vibrating at high frequency to tune the shaper system so it can run at high speeds without messing up the prints. Sure beats my old ones. Thanks for watching.

    I just ordered mine on "Black Friday" to take advantage of their sale. I've been looking for videos from individuals like yourself that bought the printer with their own money so that I could get an honest review. I can tell your review was not only honest, but you have really spent a lot of time putting it through its paces! Thanks for sharing :)

      I almost didn’t buy it because of all the videos having trouble. I wonder if maybe those channels make more money off Bambu printers that they all seem to be pushing. I really didn't want to spend much more then $400 so I took a chance. I love mine and no problems yet with decent prints right out of the box. I just ran 2 8 hour full bed prints and noticed a couple things. The bed is not perfectly level but that doesn't affect the print. I am going to pull the bottom panel and adjust that soon. Second is the cable chain hits the cover when printing the full bed width. The filament tube makes it stiff so it can slap occasionally. Hasn't affected the prints but I may pull the tube from the chain to eliminate that. Also for best results use the Creality hyper pla to start with. Hope you enjoy yours. Thanks for watching.

      This one has worked good so far for the price. I needed it to be enclosed because my basement is so cool in the winter. There are many good ones available now and some great black Friday discounts on most brands. If you want to spend more Bambu seems to make the best available. Thanks for watching.

      Maybe you can also try QIDI MAX3. It has the build volume up to 325*325*315mm, and has active chamber heating to maintain your print temperature in the winter.@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023

    The glue stick is not for bed adhesion it is to stop some prints such as petg from sticking too well and destroying the print surface when you try and remove the print. If you are having issues with adhesion dont add glue stick to textured pei, just up bed temp to 60 degrees, the default of 45 is too cold for pei textured

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks. The instructions with the plate said glue must be used and it has worked so far. I will try bumping up the temp. The slicer has it set at 45 deg c now as you say. Thanks for watching.

      So true! If using a PEI coated bed you should NOT be using glue stick.

    A lot of the bad reviews come from the first release models. I took advantage of the Black Friday deal, and I wanted to get it directly from Creality to avoid getting the older model. I ended up with a good one directly from Creality. Im amazed coming from an Ender 3 v2.
    For those who are interested in the K1, don't pay too close attention to any reviews that are 2-3 months old. Those reviews are from the first release.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I love mine. one thing that made me wonder is those bashing the K1 were pushing a much higher priced Bambu machine and that would mean a much larger commission off each machine. I thought about a Bambu and sent them a email with some questions about their machines being cloud based only. Next thing I was being constantly burried in spam that scared me away from them. I just saw the K1C is being released soon. Thanks for watching.

    I need to get one of those so I can print organizers for our grandkids. My granddaughter loves to draw and our house if full of her colored pencils.
    Are they hard to figure out how to work?

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yea, we have craft supplies all over. That gridfinity system has thousands of models available for downloading by different creators. Biggest issue is finding bin models for what you want to organize. This is the easiest 3D I have used and the slicer worked great. I found sticking with the Creality pla meant good prints from the box. The worst part is figuring out how to fix them if something goes wrong. Definitely could be some frustration getting started if you have never used one before. Thanks for watching.

  • @johnmulligan9299

    You should give Orca Slicer a try. It has a K1 profile and will improve print qualety. You will have to use a thumb drive to transfer the gcode unless you a "rooted" the machine. Give Orca Slicer a try it is sooo much better than Creality Slicer.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks. I will look into that. I kind of like being able to do the slicing upstairs and having the ability to run and watch the part remotely. Guess I can just put the gcode on a USB drive and still run it from the app. I have no intentions of messing with the operating system with how good it has been working so far. Thanks for watching.

    • @johnmulligan9299
      @johnmulligan9299 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can still use the camera and time lapse in Orca Slicer. Just givew it a try I am sure you will like it over the Creality Slicer.@@unemployedredneckhillbilly2023

    I also bought one on the Amazon Black Friday sale. Using the sample PLA filament it prints fine, but using Creality Hyper ABS I have not had a single print turn out. The nozzle clogs after 4-5 layers. I believe I do have the new extruder, and have updated the firmware. Have you tried any other filaments other than PLA?

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So far just using the Creality hyper PLA with zero problems. I have to figure out how to vent it outside before trying ABS. If you have the white ring on the filament line it's suppose to be the latest model with the new extruder and new ceramic heater. If the ring is black its the old one. Buying from Amazon you should contact the seller and see what they say. Also ask if they are a Creality approved seller so you can contact Creality about the issue. I bought tpu to try next. Thanks for watching.

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It's scary fast. Just got done running 2 8 hour full bed prints and noticed a couple things. First is the bed is about ³/¹⁶ out of level in the left front corner. Still prints perfect but a lot of z movement on full bed prints I hadn't noticed before. Have to pull the bottom off and fine tune the screws. Second is the cable chain hits the left side when using the full bed. Doesn't affect the print but will probably pull the filament tube out of the chain to eliminate it. I love it and don't tell your wife you saw it in one of my videos if you get one 😉. The Creality hyper PLA comes out best. Thanks for watching.

      I think I have about 120 hours on it now with creality PLA and no problems. Today I tightened the belts a little and spent some time leveling the bed better. Prints are good using the Creality slicer and factory settings. Probably could get them perfect if I knew how to tune the settings. I saw a comment that Orcaslicer is supposed to work with it now also. only thing not perfect is for full bed prints the cable chain sometimes hits the cover.

    Hi, 👋, URHC , I hope you are both keeping safe and well, and you are having a great weekend holiday,
    It is amazing how technology has come forward in leaps and bounds over the past 4-5 years, and of course, the price of things have come down tremendously, I noticed something when you were showing your worktop surface, sitting in the background, MUG , HAVE YOU EVER OWNED A HOG , Do you and have you still ride?, I’ve had three since 1995, in 2000, I bought a brand-new deuce., and sadly because of all my problems I’ve had with my ex partner I had to sell it in 2019 so I could move to France,
    Sorry, I’m going off in a different tangent ,
    The machine looks great , Very good territorial on the K-1 3D printer, 🖨️, I have a friend back in the UK. He is very very technically minded., and I think he’s actually built his own, As it looks completely different from what I’ve seen on the Internet,
    Definitely food for thought if I can ever get my head around the electronics of it program it ,
    Stay safe, keep up the great work , look forward to seeing your next project, I have heard that they now 3-D printing buildings, 😂😂😂😂.
    Phil from the moulin France .

      Yes I bought a new Harley FLSTCI in 2002 to go out to Sturgis with. It was a trip I had always wanted to do and we had an amazing time there. I had a Yamaha xs1100 before that we would take long trips on and what a downgrade the Harley was. It was slow, had bad brakes, vibrated, and crummy handling compared to the Yamaha but was fun to ride and sounded good anyway. Finally sold it 2 years ago because my wife could no longer get on it and I lost much of my muscle mass after issues with the Covid vaccine making it dangerous to be on 2 wheels.
      I am really surprised how fast this current generation of printers is. So easy to use also unlike my old ones that needed constant fiddling with. I am trying to keep my mind going playing with new technologies to fight the Long Covid brain fog I got from my vaccines . Thanks for watching.
