Love the hinge design for the lid. Thanks!
Glad you like it!
I love your calm and reassuring tone. Everyone seems to have more free cable length on the run out sensor than I do. lol.
Thanks so much!
To your question on the side mount. It could be that they wanted to show off what the printer could do. They gave you the model, they gave you the screws, and they gave you the first useful project you could print using the carbon fiber that the printer is designed to print.
I agree.
And they also know most are going to want the side mount.
Its actually kind of genius on Crealitys part. You get to test your printer making something useful and they save money not including extra parts.
Where can I find the model?
@@KeithHoppe-jz6vtThey did send you the plastic to make it. I printed a benchy, and then this bracket as my first two projects.
Thank you for the files, they were great and worked perfectly.
You're welcome!
Awesome upgrades, keep the good work up! There is really thinking energy in this 😊
Thanks so much for watching and the nice comment!
Thank you! I just ordered the K1C and am looking forward to printing the mods! I have been using the Longer LK4 since 2019.
Great to hear!
Thats awesome mate, I'll definitely do the door and lid modifications using the files you linked. Thank you!
Glad you like these easy mods!
Great video thanks for taking the time to make it
Thanks for watching!
Wow! Thank you thank you thank you for the modifications! They’re great. Creality may hire you !
Wow, thank you!
Guy, I've got two questions if you have time. One, how do I send you some $ for your time in designing those modifications and two, how do i use the hinge files? They don't look cura friendly. They have shadows and are quite large. @@GuysShop
@@donwires5793 The hinges for the door are all in a single .stl and have the supports built in. Very slick. I also did not design any of these mods. I'm not that talented :)
Thanks for the riser link. I'm new to printing with a big learning curve and got it printed. My first print longer than 30 minutes.
Glad I could help!
Glad I could help!
My friend thank you ....these upgrade are verry good you are many creative.
You're welcome!
How would i connect the ptfe tube from the dryer to the filament sensor?
For a total beginner do you reccommend Ender 3 V3 KE, Creality K1C or Qidi Q1 pro? I think to go on K1C or Q1 pro only for having the possibility of print hard material like ABS or ASA but if are equal I don't want to wast money. I want also the best print quality without artifactas. Help me. Thank you
Excellent video. That lid riser will be made soon. My K1C chain hits the top and knocks it off all the time. It blows my mind Creality did not leave enough clearance for the lid.
I don’t see how you cannot have the riser. Thanks for watching!
this is the content i like, real understanding and troubleshooting... you should consider more printer reviews, i know there are ton of out there already but a honest practical point of view is always lauder then some sponsored nice talk
Thanks!
That Nylon printing turned out amazing!
Yeah, I was really happy with the results!
Printing a better spool holder is a major step in the 3d printing experience and Creality did include a stupid one on the back on purpose, so people can say to themselves: "I improved it". Really nice thinking.
Yeah, I don't know why the back spools are a thing!
Micro swiss makes a replacement hotend with some good nozzles. 🔥
Glad to see another video. And love the pod cast. I have a k1 with a lot of mods including the riser. I originally used pla like you did and it started to warp after a while as I print quite a bit of abs. So I ended up reprinting the riser in ABS. So maybe you will have better luck as you used CF PLA. I might be a bit more temperature resistant. I still love the k1. Once rooted and fixing the bed and making it level it is a great printer and is now my favorite out of my 4 printers.
Thanks for the tips!
hellou there, i would like to ask you, i am about to buy my first printer ever and there are so many to chose from... thinking about bambu A1, or K1C or just a ender 3 V3 KE... any advice?
Where can i find this exact side spool mount STL file as I didn't get it with mine (being K1)
Make the design and used it
I speak Spanish so I didn't understand everything haha, but what material is everything printed on and number 2... would that work with the K1? Or do they have different measurements?
270° door hinge is awesome but there is also a latch to print to hold the door in the full open position. Ribsfit has a version of it on printables.
Cool! I'll check it oout!
Please share the stl for the spool holder, I cant find it :(
Thanks for awesome solutions, i dont know whose idea to make filament in back of the side...this drive me crazy.
Yeah, it's a wierd thing with all the printer to have.
Love your videos Guy, are there any more woodworking videos you plan on in the future?
Yes, I do have a woodworking video plamnned for the future. Thanks for watching!
Will definitely print the lid hinges and maybe the door hinges. It's a great printer though. The K1C worked pretty well for me straight out of the box.
I am super happy wihth mine.
Hi, Thanks for the great video. I am just waiting for the delivery of my K1. Can you let me know where I can get the files for the Riser, Door Hinges and filament holder please
In the description
Thanks for the video.
On my K1C the third hole on the Creality side mount doesn’t line up and is too far off for modification.
I ended up using the one from Printables and trashed the four printed out from the Creality model. It’s beyond me how they missed that.
That's kinda weird. Glad you got it figured out though!
printed the lid extender and lid hinges from some carbon fiber i'd used to print the side mount. The hanger worked great on the hinges for me too. i should have printed the mod to relocate the sensor first, the carbon fiber got hung up feeding from the side to the back and had a do over on the lid extender, fed from the back using a dryer instead and printed without issue. Parts printed beautifully, look and function well, only had issue with hole alignment on one corner. i've ordered some nylon for the door hinges, i think that's a good call on your part, plus i want to see how the K1C prints nylon. Thanks again, for me, these are all great upgrades.
Thanks for watching and the great comments 👍
Great content and links. thanks. i really want the added benefits of rooting, but am still pretty new to 3d. i already tried to root 2x and failed, so have been holding off. i used the Guilouz script, got into root on my mac, but it didn't do anything to my printer... pretty sure i'm missing an obvious step out of ignorance.
It's pretty straightforward following the instructions. More than likely just a missed step somewhere I hope.
Good video!!! Could you tell me what sleep mode is in this printer or what it does
Unfortunately you can still hear the power supply fan. Everything else shuts off and is configurable thru Klipper firmware
Is this safe even with windows are open inside a room?
Thanks for sharing, I just got mine yesterday and what a pain. Everything works from the files that you shared. Howver the sensor cable is too short. I pulled it slowly and nothing. Any ideas?
Maybe make a jumper cable for it?
Oh you have the new Pi dryer, I was just about to buy it! (not for nothing, and I know this doesn't matter, but man is it handsome next to the K1 models)
It seems to work pretty well. Haven't had it for long, and have only used it once. Seems to work well though!
I've been saying I'm going to get a 3D printer for years and years. Sigh...
Great video!
Could you tell me where you got the screws from for the lid riser?
Amazon
I just need to print PLA and PLA LW and ned a very flat first layer to glue parts together with a together fit. Is this the printer for me or would you recommend another?
This printer for the price is very good and very versatile. If it's within your budget, and fits your needs, I highly recommend this printer. It's been my go to printer since I got it.
Need that new plate for the K1!
Just make sure to add the routine for the wiping from the K1C.
I finally swapped from resin printing and got a k1 on sale. Its been great out of the box. Just wish I had the space for the k1 max but i didnt want to get rid of my uniformation resin printer.
How did you like the uniformatiom? Was thinking about getting one
@ThatsPety it's a great resin printer that was up and printing in less than 20 minutes. The few print fails have been my fault due to bad support placement. Just don't bother with their wash and cure station. Anycubic's is better and cheaper. Beware the amount of space it all takes up though.
2:05 I've found a replacement set of 0.4, 0.6 and 0.8mm unicorn nozzles for the K1C on 3D Jake but they aren't available until june.
Thanks for the tip! I have also been looking at the MicroSwiss solution....
@@GuysShop I was thinking about getting that one too, after having a massively clogged nozzle within a week of owning the K1C.
But it turns out the "unicorn" nozzle is pretty easy to clean, thanks to the design, although the tool they include doesn't really help and I used some old guitar string which is my favorite unclogging tool anyway :D
I'm excited for the print speeds with a .6 or .8 nozzle but that can wait a bit, the printer is already a beast.
@@toastermon2272 Yeah, I really like it. I checked and they have the unicorn nozzles on amazon now.
Where did you get the filament Pi dryer? I can't fine it any were.

When installing KAMP on the K1, did you replace its normal probing and homing routine, or does it still probe all corners before doing the KAMP process?
Nothing replaced, just stock hardware.
@@GuysShopThanks for the reply! I wanted to clarify: did adding the Klipper Adaptive Meshing and Purging to the firmware change the Start Print process, or does it still do its typical start print probes of the corners, and then do the adaptive meshing?
@@tylampro Still does the typical start, however it only does the bed mesh on the area it's going to print
How about a direct drive setup with the spool on top of the lid?
It wouldn't work for me because of whewre I have the printer. I would have to use a step stool to change filament!
How do you like the Space Pi filament dryer?
It seems fine I've used it quite a bit.
How did you get that dryer? Can't find it anywhere 😊
Creality sent it to me. I believe it is available on their website creality.com
Nice work.
I don't think I've ever bought any kind of device that couldn't use some sort of user mods.
It must be some kind of sickness or something. Ever since I was a kid, I had to take stuff apart to see what made it tick and to see what I could do to improve on it somehow.
I couldn't begin to count how many perfectly good toys and appliances I've ruined thinking I could improve on them.
It's always nice when the mods work out the way we wanted them to though.
It's kind of like getting an engineering degree the hard way, through trial and error; mostly error in my case.
HaHa. And that's the fun part of it that I like so much...
any chance you know where to find the side holder file?
It came preinstalled in the memory. You could probably download it at Creality’s website
For all the items you made in this video, can you list the filaments that you used. Or can you use just one for all?
I only used two different filaments. One was Polymaker PA6-CF and the other Creality PLA-CF. I mention which was used for what in the video
@GuysShop i didn't understand why you used 2 different filaments for the door and lid?
Where do I find the print for the riser. Love it!
It's linked in the video description
In the description there is a link to all the things I printed for this project
Unfortunately the Runout Sensor Mounting Block did not work for me I did not have enough slack It had to much tension to pull out
same, can't get it out. don't want to break it
That was very useful. I am now subscribed. I want to Root my K1C. I found the link. Do you just follow the K1 instructions for the K1C
Yes you do
i need to buy these files to print them?
Nope. They are all free at the links in the description
Hi Guy. Noel here - a short-tempered impatient Vietnam vet from down here in australia. I just bought a K1C from Creality and am in the process of assembling it right now, and really appreciate all the work you have put nto the upgrade, and am hoping you can help me (I am willing to pay $$). My unit didn't come with the triangular piece to hold the filament spools on the side of the casing. Have, by and chance, designed an .stl for this triaangular piece? Noel
Hi Noel, I could be mistaken, but I believe that the triangular bracket used to side mount the spool holder on the K1C is included in the presliced models that come with the printer. All you need to do is select it from the list and print it.
But what about the nozzle, it's not hardened steel it's steel coated brass, and all the gears in the extruder are not hardened steel but plastic and metal, please watch Madstech video. Would you recommend this printer for a first printer because I am looking for a inclosed medium sized 3d printer for tpu, carbon fiber, nylon and pla to mount inside a cabinet in my Bus 🚌
The nozzxle is hardened steel, and it works just fne wth abrasive materials. You can't go wrong with this printer.
the lid spacer is being hit on the front right by the head of the printer with the K1C, i'm going to upload a remix of the spacers to fit the profile better as this surely is reducing the print volume in some way.
Yeah, it does bang in to it a little bit. Since I keep mine in the garage, the extra noise doesn't bother me and it doesn't seem to be doing any damage.
Why not print straight out of the dryer?
I did with the PA6-CF, no need with the others
Logical upgrades or mods.
Thanks!
Where do we get your mods
Look in the desription. There are links
Thanks brother I'm looking at getting one tonight. Need a upgrade from my sermon. I presume you are happy with the K1C overall reviews are all over the place.
@@garykemmerling919 Im very happy with mine. It is my go to printer.
I must be missing something. How do you access the description
the file your sharing for the runout sensr, is wrong. the once you use has small holes, the one you shared has wide holes
It worked fine for me....
@@GuysShop Werll i figured, the holes where you attach the top part with, are wide on the file, and small holes in your video. So i think the file did get changed. Also, the K1C does not have such a long cable coming out and it's also placed differently.
@@hakaiyou4532 This was a K1C in the video, and that's where mine was placed at the factory.
@@hakaiyou4532 I just printed the runout sensor mount and you're right. The holes are different to the one in the video. Guess it must have changed at some point.
I am glad the didn't put the filament spool on the side. I have multiple printers lined up and I go to the other side of the table to load all the printers. Takes up less space.
I wish I had that luxury! This was the best solution for my needs and space however.
Did you shoot this content thanks to a sponsorship agreement? Did Creality give you this printer for free or did they pay you to shoot this video?
There was no money given to me nor did they sponsor this video
Why on earth would a company sponsor a video that is focused entirely on modifying their product to fix design problems?
these modifications are so basic why can they not incorporate this into the design of the machine right from the beginning . Why do we have to constantly ask manufacturers to put the switch at the front
You would think....
This is absolutely unacceptable that were needing to make functional upgrades to a $600 printer....if yours even work well
Yeah, but it's still fun adding these to the printer. Gives me a reason to be out in the shop.
That's the beauty of creality printers and the 3d printing community. It's like the youngest child, troublesome, but you gotta spoil em with goodies. Open source all the way.
It's very sad that it has to be corrected after the factory. The printer doesn't cost $1.
Should I pay $600 and print the parts at home??
I wonder if it will be the same with K2.
We'll do shit and you can fix it at home.
Give us your money and fuck off.
Buying a Creality printer and doing some quality of life mods are kinda baked into the cake.
Why doesn't Creality do it?
After all, it's a piece of cake for them....
