  • If you've ever struggled trying to adjust your printer and had a lot of difficulty, you'll find the Creality K1/K1 Max magical. In this video, we will go through all the stages of tuning the K1, from the temperature tower, filament flow calibration, printing speed, and we will look for the perfect print with Brazilian filaments from the brands GTMax, 3D Labs, and 3D Prime to find out which of them delivers better results in 3D printing with the Creality K1/K1 Max.
    Furthermore, I am answering many questions not listed in the official Creality K1/K1 Max calibration tutorial (wiki.creality...., and I am giving you relevant tips to take care of best use of your 3D printer and avoid damage to your 3D prints.

    Excellent video, I have never seen a calibration video on TH-cam so comprehensive on any 3D printing machines. It restores my confidence about the K1 Max machine I intended to purchase but everyone in the markets tend to rank the Bambu Lab over the Creality machines.

    • @InventorsGarage
      @InventorsGarage  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Yeah, that's the million question. It depends on your country and the kind of job you want to do with your printer. Bambu is more like a plug'n play'n done. Creality K1/K1 Max offers more possibilities for customizations, not exactly like an Ender, but it is still more than a Bambu Printer. The cost of a printer and replacement parts depends on your country, while in the USA, you pay $1.5k for an X1; in Brazil, it has been sold for $3.5k because of taxes, which is also the reality in other countries.

    Your explanation on tuning the Creality K1 for different filaments is well received, thank you. I have been 3D printing for close on 12 years now, owned a couple of Creality Ender 3 printers and purchased a Bamboo Lab X1 Carbon and the Creality K1 Max when they first came out. However, I've since sold the Bamboo because I personally find the Creality K1 Max to be a better printer. My only hope is that one day Creality will design a multi-material attachment similar to the X1 Carbon. Regarding your AI translation, well done and I look forward to watching more of your videos.

    I use K1 MAX from more than a month, and the machine is very impressive. In the beginning it wasn't, but after some tweaking I was very happy. You really need to put it on a stable surface, and set the belt tension to be equal on both sides- around 110-120Hz. The unique of this printer is that from the start is OK, but there is a plenty to upgrade and make it great.

      @@antisocial77 get an Oscilloscope to measure it. You don't need the actual equipment, there's phone apps for it to use with your microphone. You put it up near the belt and you do a bit of a pull flick of tension on the belt to see what frequency you get. Then you tighten or loosen it at the gear corners until the tension frequency matches the range.

Can't wait to put this to use when my replacement parts for my broken Max come in. I would expect that the new extruder should resolve a lot of the issues. Jams like that are not supposed to happen on printers like these. These are not meant to be like Ender 3's, they are far too expensive for that. I get my own parts tomorrow and I hope its resolved for me as well.

    Great video! On the 2nd step of flow calibration, are you sure you are correct about the results being added or subtracted from your initial best setting? It looks like when you gave a "-5" result from step one that it then bracketed that value by +/- 5. So, if you got a result of "-3" for step 2 that would be the value you use, not "-8". If it were relative to the "-5", it would have given you an available range of "+5" to "-5", centered on "0".

    This would be great if it explained how to get the Z offset to stay in place. My printer always prints too high off the bed, so everything falls over if I don't catch the Z offset on the first layer, which means I couldn't even get past the temp tower stage. There doesn't seem to be anything online how to calibrate and keep the new calibration settings inside the priner. I have to go wait for the printer to start then race through the menus to recalibrate the Z offset every time. Anyone know of a full setup guide that inclides the Z offset calibration and how to save it inside the printer?

    Just wanting to be helpful, but I believe your Max Flowrate calculation formula may be a bit wrong. You were right that you take the half step of 36, so the test reflects 18 mm/s. However, you didn't start at zero, you started at five. So your max flow rate is actually 23. That being said, generally you want to take about 10% off of it just to help ensure quality. Anyhow, hope that helps someone.

Bought my K1 6ish months ago and there felt like very little info or videos out there that really helped with the K1 specifically. Definitely nothing like this that shows how to take advantage of the printer and the accompanying slicer software. Bit annoying that a lot if not most videos say use Orca or use Prusa and root your machine and do this or that when Im just a beginner and Im like "I just need to learn wtf Im doing first." Belt tension is the biggest physical adjustment needed to get cleaner prints...... mine were extremely overtightened. Creality CS themselves were unable to advise the K1 Max recommended Hz (K1 standard is 110hz).....so i started at roughly 110 which i was not happy with, and have slightly tightened to roughly 120hz. Orca Slicer is far better than Creality Print IMO.... i also spent alot of time tuning the acceleration and speed to get my profile to a point where i am happy with the quality and speed. Creality Printers are fantastic, i have loved and used them for over 6 years.....however.....Bambu appear to be the better option for those not wanting to tweak and tune.

      This is 100 percent where I’m at. I feel like with Bambu you get the printer and what you see is what you get. Won’t be much tuning or improvements made to it. But with creality machines there is always the possibility of tuning/upgrades to always improve your prints. It keeps 3d printing interesting to me. I have a k1 max.

      i love tweaking and tuning as well :).... have done since my early Ender 2's and 3's, and cr10s pro. I think learning on cheap machines, knowing you will need to upgrade, tweak, tune etc, helps to diagnose problems on the newer faster machines. Faster = Quality issues are drastically exaggerated. :)

And today I made some extruder(V2) tests and it looks like it starts skipping on on around 28mm3 flow- and this is with the CHCB-OT hotend, which performs better with around 4mm3 compare to the original ceramic one. The next upgrade is the nozzle and the next version extruder(V3) is on its way from China.

    „Tuning … is most challenging task”. No. It is not challenging. Just buy P1S and you will get better prints out of the box… not to mention X1 even

    Why do you find the final result as 3 and add 2? My result is "8" and the value in the program is 95. In this case, how many numbers do I need to add?

    Vídeo maravilhoso! Obrigada!

    Hi Thanks a lot for this very informative video. That said, beware because of the AI translation (which sounds pretty good to me), everything you put in front of your face is replaced, so, there are a lot of things you're trying to show we can't see because replaced (by your mouth)

    Wesley, I have spent almost two weeks calibrating an ASA+ filament and doing precisely the procedure you outline in your video. Thank you for filling in some blanks that Creality's Calibration Wiki doesn't mention. I really appreciate your advice on how to interpret the printed results. One of the things that messed up my Flow Rate tests was the AI flow correction that can be a part of the "Print calibration" function you can enable when sending the print to the printer. It can do more than just bed levelling... Can you please post a link to the same video in Portuguese?

    • @InventorsGarage
      @InventorsGarage  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi @omahena, I use to disable the function "pressure advance" at the filament profile, this function use to cause oscillation on the hotend pressure during the printing. But regarding the AI flow correction I've never had an issue with that, but I must to say that I also notice no changes when using it LOL, besides the fact that that thing spends more filament. I believe Creality is still collection data to improve this functionality, since it was added on K1 Max.

  • @SteffenUvaas
    @SteffenUvaas 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I have a question about the material flow ratio. In pass 1 i got a nr 10 and in pass 2 i got a 0. So when I added The 10, it became 105% flow ratio and now I feel like it over extrude in the pressure advance test. I can’t start the print without immediately stopping it again because of stringy chaos on the print bed. Should I try slowly dial it back or just drop it?

    • @InventorsGarage
      @InventorsGarage  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I had some situations like this, on my case it was a low quality filament. But, yes you can reduce it till the point you have a good extrusion
