    Thanks for uploading this very helpful video. Here is my break down of the different steps:
    1- 0:01 Deboard the airplane.
    2- 0:28 Take escalator upstairs.
    3- 01:27 Follow "Transfers" (blue).
    4- 04:45 Take escalator down and keep following "Transfers" (blue).
    5- 06:00 Check your flight/gate numbers.
    6- 05:55 Follow "International Transfers" (red).
    7- 11:50 Go through "International Transfers" for security check.
    8- 12:14 Follow "International Departures" (blue).
    9- 12:50 Check your flight/gate again.
    10- 13:25 Take escalator up.
    11- 14:50 Find the correct direction to your gate.
    Enjoy your flight!

      14:50 Take a look at the signs for the gates. Unless your gate is within a short walking distance, I suggest paying for an IGA buggy ride, around 6 euros/dollars. If you are over 65, it is a free service.

    I did this in May, 2022 travelling Muscat-Istanbul-London. It was a nightmare. I had two hours in which to transit, but the distances involved were so ridiculously long that I only just made it to the gate in time. I am 72, but still fit enough to run when necessary. God knows what people do if they are less fit, less experienced travelers, or travelling with children.

      @@neilmcbeath954so true . one of the ridiculos airport and also turkish airlines .if you have short gap between connecting flights , chances are you would miss the connecting flight in simple reason being u would be asked to run like usain bolt for kilometers . and at the end pass through security checks one more time and they say you have 2-3 min .The security check is almost like making you nude and check for every single thing inside your bags and jacket , They make you feel like you have stolen something or a wanted criminal no mercy even you have small kids or you are aged or have ilness . turkish airline staff are rude and they don't show any mercy or help if you miss flight.asks you to follow them without explaining details and you run like hell from one counter to others .they are indeed extremely inhuman and pathetic God knows how a global airline operates with such a ridiculous attitudes and extremely poor customer service .My suggestion to future travellers - go at your own risk may be have enough time gap between connections and don't expect any help from airline or even airport. and keep checking the big screen funny thing is the gate number is only disclosed just before an hour. imagine you are in gate D and announcement shows gate B thats it you have to believe your luck to reach by walk .not sure why they cant provide enough time for passengers I hope and i wish the management listens to customer and takes some steps to improve things

      @@samadritaghosh3221 Yes. On the other hand, if the departure gate is not too far and does not warrant a buggy then paying for a buggy in advance would be a waste of money. Best thing to do is wait until you exit Security. If the departure gate is far, pay for a buggy to get you there.

    Hi there! Thank you for creating this video; I will be traveling internationally alone and will have to get through 8 hours layover at the IST airport - this video definitely calmed my anxiety a bit. I do have a question - let's say if my luggage isn't tagged and sent to its final destination directly, does that mean I'll need to apply for a Turkey Visa, go through baggage claim, and re-check in? Thank you!

      Hi Ivy, my mother is coming to visit me in the US and she will have 8 hours layover in this airport as well!! I wonder if it's the same flight as you. I heard that there is a transit lounge and as long as you don't leave that transit lounge, you don't need a visa.

      @fahuashesun3707 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      As long as your next international flight is within 24 hours you don’t need visa. To be safe you’d better take both flights from same airline this way at the first airport you will get boarding pass for both flights. With the boarding pass of the connection flight you go from arrival area to the departure area without going through custom so you don’t need visa. Your checked in luggage will get to the final destination too. This video is just like that. 7:40 he didn’t go out here. 11:46 he has boarding pass so he went through a security check and get into departure area from arrival area.

    hello, do u think 1h 55m is enough for international transfer?

    you don't take your bags if you're going to international transfer?

    • @Krahamus
      @Krahamus ปีที่แล้ว

      If you are flying with the same airlines from start to final destination no matter international or not, you dont need to claim your baggage when transferring since everything will be going to be done for you and you will just pick up your luggage at final destination

      @@386srushtipatel2 hey, just follow the baggage claim sign after you leave the plane, dont forget after you take your luggage to go to other airliners check in desk and give baggage to them since you are using 2 different airlines, i would suggest also not really checking things around since Airport is massive and depending where you landed and where your other planes gate is it can take some time to reach so better hurry up, if you really want to be faster you can use buggy to bring you to places it coast some money but not much, if for some reason you have 30 mins left after you landed to reach your other gate, there is sign with short transfer, it will going to take you quickly to places compared to normal route, happy flying!

    I will never book again with Turkish Airlines!
    I personally booked and paid for the flights from BSL to CAI (via IST) and the same return flights of my younger brother recently.
    He returned from vacation in Egypt 8.5 later than initially planned to BSL Switzerland, due to bad time management of two flights, both operated by them:
    He was denied boarding for the connection flight (TK1923 departing at 07:30 from IST and planned to land at 09:55 in BSL), as the previous flight (TK693 from CAI to IST) arrived about one hour too late in IST. He was not offered any other compensation by your airline, except for a ticket for the flight which brought him home 8.5 later in the evening on Monday, May 8 2023 (TK1925 from IST to BSL) at 18:25 at BSL.
    He was too exhausted for work on the consequent day, and would have deserved a good rest before taking up work again at home after returning from his vacation in Egypt.
    I first informed our local Turkish Airlines office in BSL by e-mail. They simply gave me the link for feedbacks about the airline. There I described the case and gave them all the documents regarding the flights, supporting my claim in the compensation process.
    The airline insisted first that my brother opens a feedback case on his own. Which he then did on my instruction.
    Then he received a lame response by e-mail, listing the various causes of the delay of the first flight by minutes and not feeling obliged to any compensation, but appreciate the feedback in order "to improve their processes... bla bla". Each time we could not simply answer the e-mail but write again (via the feedback ticket number on their web site) whether they are serious and said he would complain elsewhere, but they sticked to their version.
    So here I am shaming this trashy customer service and the actual service of the airline whenever and wherever I can. Never going to fly again with them! Ever!

      It is very rare for Turkish airlines to make such a mistake. I’m pretty sure your brother is just inlucky

      @Mr Mohammed The case is crystal clear. But apparently the airline has no consistancy about following international conventions.

    Istanbul airport is a nightmare. Wife and I are seasoned travelers but this airport broke us. The place is HUGE and the people you ask for help either don't know or don't care if your flight leaves you. WARNING: stay away from this place.
