Travelling alone international for the very first time is an extremely daunting task - your mind goes in 5 different directions , mainly repeatedly asking yourself what happens if you board the wrong flight and end up 2000 miles away from your planned destination haha !
I transferred at ist with family on 28 June from Muscat to Edinburgh. Our flight from Muscat was late so when we arrived at ist, the other flight was waiting for us and a few other passengers. We were all 8. At the gate, there was a staff member waiting and calling for all going to Edinburgh to gather, he then literally ran in front of us and asked us to follow him. One of the passengers was an old lady who couldn’t run and she was very tired. When we reached the gate, all the other passengers were already on aircraft. We didn’t go through regular red sign security. Instead, there was a small security area that we went through. It was quick. Very tiring experience for my family. On the way back from Edinburgh, both arrival and departure gates were very close to each other and we didn’t go through security. We had time for coffee near the gate because again our flight was delayed. This airline moves thousands of people from east to west in the morning and the opposite in the afternoon and evening. There are hundreds of aircrafts on ground at the airport and many other landing or taking off at the same time. Very busy airport and delays are possible all the time.
So i had a 3 hour layover in istanbul, i got out of the plane which took atleast 15-20 mins because they made the business class passegers get out first, then after getting out i went to International transfers which was an endless walk, after getting there i had to get my second boarding pass so i asked the help desk and they asked me to go to the turkish airlines counter, i got my boarding pass there, then i went through security which didnt take long, then i went to the duty free shopping area snd went to a store, bought a few things, then i wandered around and found a free wifi kiosk, u have to slide ur passport in the thingy and then it prints out a receipt with the password for wifi, u can then connect it, then i checked the info of my gate om the board, then i went to my gate, the gate was not open, they said there was 5 mins left, after it opened, i showed my documents, then they checked my passport again and then u had to go through security again but u had to take off shoes and stuff, then i sat on the chair and waited about 40 mins or more, then they started boarding and yea, so anyone who has a 3 hour layover, it's a lot.
Hi, same question. I have a 5hour layover in Istanbul airport on January to Tblisi.I’m not sure if I need to apply for a transit or there’s no need.Thank you, hoping for your response🤍
No you do not need a transit visa, you prolly only need it if u have a passport that requires a visa PLUS if u leave the airport, if ur not leaving then no u don't need it, at the same time my flight was delayed to the next evening, i had checked bags so i went through passport control and then went to baggage lost and found to retrieve my luggage and then i booked a hotel and then arrived the next day and checked in for my flight, but no one asked me for a visa, maybe because i had a British passport and turkey is visa free for 90 days for us @@maraj.dherrera

I will not be entering turkey via Istanbul Airport but mere transiting through it and stay in the transit area until my next flight. My question is, would turkey require any additional documents than these for pet cat's transiting.

What if you have to reclaim your luggage, do you need to go through customs and immigration?
yea so this happened to me since my flight was delayed to the next day, i had to go through passport control and get my luggage
I didn’t understand I have flight Lyon-Istanbul and then istanbul-Kuala lumpur when I get out I have to pass to passport control or directement to international transfer ???
Not pass pasport kontrol.
Just go to internatiol transit
Anyone travelling tomorrow from yvr to delhi by turkish airline?
I'm planning to go dhaka to London by Turkish airlines. while booking the airlines the transit time showed 1 hour for changing the plane. but I want to take 5-6 hours transit time in turkey. is it possible to increase time of transit?
u can only do that if u buy a separate ticket
did you take the flight yet?
@@wasifjalal2717 already I'm in uk. I was booked Etihad airways.
@@azuvhai2350 oh okay. I booked new york to dhaka on turkish with only 1 hour layover, that's why i'm worried about it.
@@wasifjalal2717 honestly try to get off the plane quickly and second boarding pass if u dont have it already, then run to the international transfers and get through security and run to ur gate, then they have more security there u also gotta take off ur shoes and stuff and then u can board, just try to run
