- A song from the CD Heralds, Harpers, & Havoc, by Mercedes Lackey. It's about Dirk and the fact he loves Talia but can't admit it to himself. I have no idea who sung it, though.

At first I was freaking out, because who dares insult Dirk like this? Then I heard the ending and my heart broke right in two😭😭😭
Dirk's song for his beloved, Talia. In Arrow's Flight, it is thought that he & her have an unacknowledged Life-Bond. Their love is mutual but it takes forever for them to tell each other this. Thus a triangle if formed between Talia, Dirk and their dear friend Kris.
It was less of a traditional love triangle though and more of Dirk thinking there was a triangle meanwhile Kris and Talia being like "what the hell Dirk, get over yourself and ask her out already" by the time of arrows fall.... That entire situation could have been avoided by just a little bit of communication between the three, even after Kris's death Dirk still didn't believe it until Talia mind shared her memories and feelings with him. The immediate reaction of a mix between relief and "we are a bunch of idiots" was quite hilarious to me.
I actually got into the songs before I read the books (random recommendations on TH-cam) and the idea I got from the songs was very different than what it felt like in the books. From trio and from other songs I was under the impression that there was some sort of betrayal and that they all hated each other until someone died. But in the books it was much more benign, (although still frustrating to everyone involved). Keep in mind with hearing songs before the books I didn't realize quite how good of a person you had to be to become a herald, otherwise betrayal would not have been my first thought.
OMG I love this song!!!!! I have been looking for just this song (for some reason I have the rest of Harpers, Heralds and Havoc but not this...) to buy on mp3 sites but can't find it ANYWHERE!!! And this is my favorite song from the cd! I love this man's voice *swoons* THANK YOU for posting it so until I can either rebuy the cd or do eventually find it online again thank you thank you thank you!
...Okay. I know this comment is already a year old and I've mixed up characters' names before myself, so I'm not trying to be obnoxious...but just for the record, Teren is Keren's brother. XD Her original lifemate was (CURSE THE PAST TENSE, LACKEY, WHY MUST YOU DO THIS TO MY HEART) Ylsa. Which you know, obviously. Typo. It was just poking at me. *shuts up now* *sorry*
