I have a 19 crew cab 4x4 and it’s the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. I have 3 kids and a lot of road time. It’s perfect.
I’ve even had to do some pretty nasty off roading in deer season and I swear I can hear the truck laugh at me as I calmly roll through what everyone else was scared of.

Likewise brother great lil truck. Wanted to buy a rzr but for a couple pennies more made sense to buy the Ranger. Great overall truck. Towing, offroad, mpg, and of coarse the turbo. Made it from Albuquerque to Colorado Springs round trip over 800 miles was showing 25.5mpg. I have a bigger air scope and K&N.

I just traded my '19 Ranger supercrew 4x4 xlt. We bought a smallish travel trailer (18' box, 7.5 wide, 22.5' total) with an aerodynamic front with the intention of doing a little traveling. After the last trip from San Antonio to Corpus Christi Texas, it became evident (I loved this truck) that it wasn't going to be a viable tow vehicle. Even though the tow rating is 7500 pounds, towing a camper (total weight around 5000lbs) into a headwind netted about 6mpg. That's right, 6. I could occasionally withstand a 6mpg statistic, however with an 18 gallon fuel tank, I had to fill up at 120 miles. Those familiar with Texas understand that it isn't that far from SA to Corpus. I had to fill up in Mathis. Ok, so I thought on the way home I would have a nice coastal tailwind, so it would net perhaps 11mpg. Well, the morning we headed for home, a cold front blew in so I got 7mpg on the way home. The benefit is however I was offered a stellar trade in, almost what I paid for after owning it for a year. Traded to a 2021 5.0l f150. I loved the Ranger, but until there's an extended Range tank, or unless one is willing to carry several gas cans in the bed, forget about doing any real long distance towing. It's literally the most liked vehicle I've ever owned, but it just couldn't do the job from a traveling/towing perspective.

    • @blueovalboys6096
      @blueovalboys6096  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

They really need a larger fuel tank.

Test drove an FX4 a couple months ago and liked it so much I took my 2019 Tacoma TRD back to the dealer, turned it in (lease) a year early and ordered a new Ranger Tremor. I was stunned at how much nicer it rode, how much more power it had, the excellent transmission, much much better driver seat position for me (6'3" 290#) and more room in rear seating too. I've dogged ford for years after having two F series that I instantly hated, but this Ranger seems legit. Have been a life long Tacoma owner otherwise, had 4, kept one until 190k, they used to be solid lil trucks and unbeatable, not so much any more. Was curious on mileage, sounds much better than the 15 mpg (on a good day) with the thirsty sluggish feeling tacoma.

I've had a 2019 ranger xlt fx4 since they came out. I've put 41k miles on it and had absolutely no issues. I never understand why people say it rides stiff because I've never experienced that. Mine rides very smoothly and it makes me love it. I do have a 2021 ranger lariat tremor on order which upgrades the shocks/suspension and adds 32 inch tires. So I guess I will see how different the ride is soon.

About 6 weeks ago I picked up a 21 Crew Cab Sport 4x4. Over time this will be the 4th Ranger I’ve ever owned. I’m holding it to some high standards. So far I love it. Just rolled over 3k.
I still have the last brand new truck I bought which is an 02 Dakota Quad Cab 4x4. That one is lifted with 33s on it. When I sit them side by side the stock Ranger is almost as tall and it only lacks 1 inch of ground clearance. My Ranger stock and that’s the way it’s going to remain.

I've got a 2019 4WD XLT - EcoBoost 2.3. I've had it a year and have no complaints. I was shopping for a Tacoma, but after test-driving and comparing the two, the Ford won out. Quieter, smoother, more comfortable, roomier and has much better mpg (23 day-to-day and about 26 hwy @ 75 mph). Surprising power and acceleration too with the turbo. I'm wondering about intake valve deposits with the direct injection cylinders, but with full synthetic oil changes (Mobile 1) every 4,000 miles, I don't expect much trouble.
I'm in the mountains of New Mexico and the Ranger handles all I throw at it with no problems. I was used to a longer PU box, but the Ranger 5-footer suits my current needs. Only thing I'm going to change is to switch out the factory tires for a more aggressive tread. No regrets here, and I would definitely recommend considering it when looking for a mid-sized PU.

I bought the 2019 ranger, and honestly I’ve pushed it probably to the limits. I have pulled a f350 dually and 5th wheel camper out of a snow bank, and pushed a 2011 freightliner with the same 5th wheel trailer fully loaded up a slick hill. There’s only one thing I wish it had.....a manual transmission!
I didn’t mind the ride at all on the move from Alaska to Florida, even with my bad back.

I purchased a 2021 Ranger Tremor in black in November, sold my 2006 dodge 5.9 cummins 6 speed 4x4 original owner with 218K . I find the ranger has plenty of power and has a comfortable ride. Tows my 20ft Alumiweld Blackhawk ocean boat fine and the wood trailer equally as well. Used first gear and tow/haul mode while bring the fire wood off the mountain, rpms hit 4,000 but didn't heat the brakes. Wish the fuel tank was bigger as my Tremor averages 19.4 MPG and has about a 350 mile range. Fits in the garage with room to spare as the dodge pretty much filled half the garage from front to back. Ford offer a $1000 rebate and 0.0% financing for 5 years who could pass that offer up! I like lots of power, so the Ford performance chip will be order soon and maybe a complete cold air intake and Cat back exhaust system. Gas is $4.49/gal at Costco were diesel runs $5.25 and up in my area, Arcata,CA. Gotta love California and its fuel taxes and regulations ....LOL

The ranger changes personalities depending on a lot of things. There’s ways to get leather where the plastic bits are like on the dash but that’s pretty much only in the lariat version. I’d say if you have the money to fit a lariat out with whatever you want. If I had the money I would get the tremor package which comes with a bunch of exterior features along with some interior features. The 2.3L engine is perfect as well. I used to drive an old turbocharged vw that had a 2.0L in it but produced 25 more horses and 40 more ft/lbs and it got me over 200k miles without any major issues. I imagine a newer engine with less pressure and better materials could get you close to or past 300k if taken care of. I’d recommend the ranger.

Cool new channel! I bought a 2020 Ford Ranger XLT trim Super Cab 4wd (non-FX4) brand-new mid September 2020 in beautiful lighting blue! Love this truck in most ways. Sits up as high as some fullsize 1/2 ton models. I love having 4wd having come from recently 2 different "AWD" vehicles that wouldn't allow you to change modes etc. I do like the updated Ford Sync 3 in my Ranger, much better than Sync 1. The front seat interior room is great! The backseat in my Super Cab model is a bit lacking with its "bolt upright" seat backs, but still better than Rangers of the past & I certainly do get out of providing rides to folks, lol. I do love the efficient 2.3 liter EcoBoost 4 cylinder!! 270 horsepower from only 138 CID! That was supercar territory not that long ago. Also class leading beefy 310 lb/ft of torque, only "diesel" midsize trucks can beat this! I've gotten as high as 27 MPG on the highway + routinely get 21-24 MPG in mixed work commuting. The 10r80 10 speed automatic is great too. Nice to see a nice big, brawny automatic transmission in this midsized truck as well as the heavy-duty "fully-boxed" steel frame. I fully agree that a few of the interior trim bits/pieces could be of better quality, but literally ALL of todays midsized trucks are like this. Even the aging, but sales leading Toyota Tacoma looks "industrial" to me in the dash & cluster. I also noted the Rangers ride can feel a bit bouncy + "jittery" at times on certain road surfaces. But then again it's a "truck" that can also tow up to 7,500 pounds (some 1/2 tons could barely manage this not too long ago) as well as haul up to a 1,600 pound payload. But there are numerous suspension upgrades & leveling kits available for the Ranger that will vastly improve its ride/handling! I do love how all the Ford EcoBoost motors respond to power upgrades & this one is no exception. I've already got an AWE Tuning 3 inch exhaust system along with a Mishimoto cold air intake kit with "dry" filter. Very noticeable "seat of the pants" feel + power gains even on the stock Ford engine tuning! Heck there's even a Ford Performance "tune" by Livernois that even carries a warranty available! Great review of the Ford Ranger + am loving mine!!

Ride quality related. I traded my 2012 Silverado LT single cab for a 2020 Ranger XLT. The ride quality is so much better. Seems to be a lot more dampened so you don't feel bumps as much. Main reason for the trade was MPG.

Nice review - fair and objective.
We leased a 2019 Ranger Lariat Super Crew Sport FX4 with 501a pkg 18 months ago and have 13k on the clock. All stock truck. My two biggest complaints are that there are no memory seats (I am 6’1” and my wife who is seven inches shorter never moves the seat to where I need it when she is done driving. Drives me insane. Other thing is the sliding rear window is not power sliding. The MSRP was $45k, how can these two features be missing? My 2017 Escape has memory seats.
The ride on the FX4 is not great on the road with nothing in the bed, the truck will bounce around. I am okay with it but it may bother some folks. The drivetrain is good, plenty of power and smooth shifts. The interior is a little tight when four of us are in the truck. It’s fine for short trips but I won’t be driving it to Tennessee this year from New York while we vacation.
I looked at Tacoma and I liked it but as you said the seating position was awful and the rear seat space was not as good so I passed. Overall, we are happy with our decision and look forward to the next 18 months of the lease. Would like to go to F-150 next.

Hey guys, I'm on my second Ford Ranger 2002 XLT Super Cab 4X4 and it still looks in showroom condition with 176,000 miles. A Salesman asked how I kept the truck finish in its original condition. My reply was two coats of wax in the Spring and two coats of wax before a Pennsylvania winter. I had two rustproofing protection with two checkups in between. It went into retirement with me in 2012, and since I put only 3.000 miles on it a year. I did have the front seats reupholstered to their original material that I had purchased in the truck. Anything the truck needs I have it done. I want a New 2023 Ranger, but Dealerships are not offering me money for my trade in, so I won't buy new until they do! I'm a Ford Customer for a long time, and I bought a lot of New Ford Model Vehicles over the years for family members too.

41,000 miles 2019 Lariat 2wd. I’ve modified it quite a bit its Full Bolt on E30. Intercooler, charge pipes, turbosmart bov. Spd ss catted downpipe with a borla s type exhaust. Airaid intake, and 180 degree performance thermostat. I absolutely love my truck. It spanks those 392 Chargers. Only problem i have encountered is when you tune one of these the remote start function is funky. It starts the truck from a distance sure. But the truck doesn’t run like it’s supposed to with my tune. Only happens using remote start function to start the truck then drive. If i just push start, perfectly fine up to 434whp and almost a 500 wtq 4 cylinder at 489lb ft of torque! These rangers have Focus Rs Bottom ends with a Mustang Ecoboost top end and is a really fun truck to daily drive with a 10r80 10 speed automatic transmission! I recommend this truck far more than any tacoma or Colorado! Also if anyone is looking into tuning their Ranger or any Ford. Oz Tuning is the best tuning by far! (With my personal experiences of 4 different tuners including 5 star tuning,MPT,and Palm Beach Dyno. Oz tuning has the absolute best tuning capabilities for how i use my truck)

I'm glad you pointed out the seating position of the Tacoma. My friend has one (base V6) and I'm only 5'6", and for the life of me I couldn't get comfortable in the truck when in the driver's seat. Can't see over the hood, and felt like my knees were up to my chin. Ordered a Ford Maverick XL Ecoboost in November '21 and received April '22. PERFECT SEATING position with a commanding view of the road. Considering the Ranger for next time around only because I want something with a bit more "ass" behind it, which I probably could have gotten if I'd ordered the Maverick with the FX4 towing package. Didn't realize my driving needs would change so quickly one year into ownership.

I have a 2021 xl stx. I wanted the base model for the vinyl floors because I have kids. Owned it for 6 months only 2k miles. I plan to level it eventually. Maybe around 15 20k miles when it's time to replace the tires. Honestly the nest thing about it is putting it in sport mode and smoking f250 in drag races lol. I love everything about except 2 things. 1 you touched on the suspension is rough unless you have a few hundred pounds in the back. But my biggestest thing I hate which is easily avoidable is the auto start stop feature. I would pay to have that turned off automatically and then be able to turn it on when I wanted.

I have the same catus gray truck in a '21 Tremor package and I too live in Tennessee... have a few suggestions..... get a tailgate damper....cheap and easy to install. Another really good add-on is a set of door entry guards (keeps from scratching up the step area as you get in and out). you can get Ford Ranger black chrome guards or you can get various universal guards. You may also want to look at a Ford or similar toolbox that fits over the bed tire hump. It swings out and is very handy. It's about 2.5 feet by 10 inches or so so. Ford makes one that is about 100.00 dollars more than one identical without the Ford oval decal. The generic one is available on Amazon or aftermarket truck sites. Next, add on outside rubber door guards and mount them low on each door...they look great mounted low and are more efficient placed there as well. When you install those make sure and use emblem adhesive so they will stay....the stick-on adhesive they come with doesn't last. (run by your buddies at the body shop.. they got that particular adhesive so no need to buy a tube just for that.) There is also a plastic tray available for the console...very handy to put stuff where you can get to it.
One last thing.....on Amazon, you can find covers for the radio knobs that have a red accent strip..they simply stick over the current plain knobs..they are cool as heck and. cost less than 10 bucks, I think. (search Amazon for: ruihe 2pc Red Aluminum VOL Tune Condition Button Trim Fit for Ford Ranger 2015 2016 2017 2018 2019 2020). I have also bought..but not yet installed .....covers or overlays to all the interior door latch covers, dash panel, and console....mine are carbon fiber style but you can get red...carbon fiber looks best in my opinion. Those overlay/covers are available at most online aftermarket truck parts sites and are a bit pricey. I haven't decided to install them yet. Anyway, enjoy that truck...it is fun to drive! I am 68 years old and this truck is "just too cool for school" as we said in the 60's.... BTW. aftermarket dark chrome letters over the RANGER on the tailgate look great and I have done that as well. Those are about 50.00 and you can get them at your ford place or Amazon....really makes a difference!

I do have to say that I did have to replace my crash bars with aftermarket to have wheel clearance. Do you still own the Ranger? How’s it doing? I’ve worn out many a 90’s model. We used them as service vehicles and put 200,000 on them.

I love my 2020 Ranger crew cab 4x4. Mostly use it for commuting. Great power and milage. I would prefer a split rear seat. Center arms rest needs more padding. Manual transmission would be nice. Plastic steering wheel is awful.

2019 ranger xlt full size crewcab here at 44k miles so far i love it. However i feel the difference when i go premium fuel compare to regular. I feel like a sport car on premium. Anybody else?

Almost all new mid size trucks come with a 5’ or 5 1/2’ bed try putting a tool box in the back now you have a trunk .
