    First time Ford and truck owner and I am absolutely loving my 2023 Lariat Ranger and my dealings with the Ford dealership. Nice to watch your review and hear from someone who isn't bothered by an interior that isn't ultra modern looking...I actually like the less modernistic and more truck look to it...including the manual parking brake and actual stick shift rather than a dial or buttons.

      Awesome! Yep, I think dashes are getting crazy with the giant screens and all. Not a fan of all this menu driven stuff. Just give me knobs and gauges. Thanks for watching!

    Thanks for your review..I purchased a used 2019 Ranger SXT 4×4 2 years ago. So far so good. It only has 42,000 on it, with no issues. Runs great 👍🏽. The previous owners had 😡 abused this truck, but despite that it cleaned up nicely and is mechanically sound. 👍🏽👍🏽

    The 10 speed transmission for the ranger is made in Sharonville, Ohio. And it is not shared with any American car maker.

    I have a 20 Ranger Lariat FX4 I bought new replacing my 12 Tacoma TRD Off Road. First I am 6'3 so the second I sat in Ranger it was instantly a gazillion times more comfortable. Second I live in Wyoming and the turbo is SO. MUCH. BETTER at altitude in the mountains than a NA engine. That with the 10 speed it is just so much better. Easily my favorite part is the powertrain. Just awesome. Otherwise no issues and I bomb around with it all over.

    I have a 2020 range stx. My transmission was extremely harsh when it went through the 1 3 5 change after take off I did 2 things to fix it.
    1. I drove my truck on trailer sway for 1000 miles to get the truck used to shifting through all the gears.
    2. Now, I accelerate a little more than usual on my first take off after starting the truck.
    Those two things have soothed out my transmission greatly. It's butter now.

      Lucas, I just got a 2020 Ranger STX, I kinda thought the same thing when owning it but yeah if you give it just a little more gas when ya leave in the morning it is super smooth and I have no issues after that. I'm glad i'm not the only one, absolutely love the truck

    • @lucashack5318
      @lucashack5318 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @mikeminton6061 I'm 35000 miles in. That's my only beef with the truck. Recently, I had to reset the transmission because of a dead battery. It went back to harsh shifting again. It took a long time to get the transmission right again. You'd think buyers wouldn't have to deal with harsh transmissions on new vehicles. Ford is sacrificing performance for gas mileage. That's the bed they chose to lay in. They are facing tons of lawsuits over this transmission. But they're all in. No turning back. Because they can't. It would bankrupt them.

    I have 50,000 on my Roush Ranger and absolutely no issues with the transmission or engine. I did have a problem with the sync but the computerized radio, climate control/truck computer module is something every manufacturer has had issues with. They should have kept it separate and spent more time developing the entertainment/ climate Bluetooth stuff. There again every manufacturer has had troubles out of the touch screen stuff. But it’s fixed and I have really no complaints with the truck. It’s really what a truck should be just wish the manufacturers wouldn’t put all the electronics in it. It’s a truck. If you want all that crap get a luxury vehicle. A truck is meant to work!! Haul shit go off road pull stuff etc. My truck is awesome off road the 4 wheel drive is fantastic. Does great in the snow as well. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed in the Ranger. Just remember when buying from any manufacturer, God didn’t build the vehicle, man did so nothing is going to be absolutely perfect!

    As soon as you mentioned a tailgate dampener is not a big deal I settled in for the rest! 😁 I've never had a dampened tailgate!! I currently have an '04 Super Duty with the 6.0. Great truck and love it but we tow the camp trailer once a year anymore and daily driving that big diesel isn't good for it. The more I watch and read about the 2019+ Ranger the more I'm liking it. I do want the Lariat with the FX4 package. If I can sell my diesel for enough I will be getting a Ranger sometime in the net year or two. Maybe with the new 2024s coming out the 2019+ models will go for a bit less and hopefully more available.

    • @jdman7170
      @jdman7170  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hahaha! Yeah, with the trucks I grew up with, that little tailgate is easy to work with on the Ranger. The new ones look really nice and actually have a trailer brake system available from what I understand. You can put one on the older ones but it’s a little more involved. Good luck with whatever you work out and thanks for watching!

    I have a 2020 ranger 4D 4x4 xlt with a locker, I love it. I work for a rental car company and I occasionally drive the competition and the ranger wins every time. If you say the Tacoma if the better option you’re shitting yourself with a v6 straight out of the venza. Low quality materials, trash results in the frontal overlap wreck both driver and passenger failed, whereas the ranger is the safest in the segment . It has the highest power output, except for the diesel gm twins, out performs everything in the segment. But okay believe the trashy Tacoma is worth it 😂😂 you can’t even use the rear locker unless you’re in 4lo in the Tacoma. 😂😂😆

Will definitely be the finishing touch 👍 I will tell you that my tremor shifts as smooth as butter and doesn’t lurch between gears and very rarely downshifts unless really climbing up. Hello, I bought the Ranger to hold me over till my Bronco arrived and also wanted to see if the 2.3L was a good engine. I was planning on ordering the V6 for the Bronco but, the 2.3L did everything I wanted it to so I ordered it for my Bronco. I put 10K mikes on the Ranger until my bronco finally arrived with no issue. I have 10k on the Bronco now with no issues. It is noisier in the Bronco but I am guessing thats because there isnt the soundproofing the Ranger had.Im glad I went with the 4 cylinder after hearing the v6's were dropping valves. I imagine in the end, it boils down to keeping it maintained. The key with turbos is to keep good clean oil in them. Thanks for watching!

      I bought the Ranger because I needed a vehicle until I was able to get my new bronco. I also wanted to try out the 2.3l to see if I would like it instead of ordering a V6 for the Bronco. I was totally happy with the 2.3l. When I traded it in last year when my bronco finally arrived, it had almost 10K miles on it. Only issue I had was a rear brake caliper hung up for some reason. Other than that, I would have no hesitation if I were looking to get another mid size truck. I was very happy with it and kinda miss it at times. Thanks for watching!

      @@southern842 not necessarily issues as in a failure but more accurately how unpredictable the shifting of the transmission was. When I need that ranger to scoot it wouldn't. Very quick truck on the highways getting up to speed and passing people. But if you were in a tight situation that damn tranny acted like it didn't know what to do. Upshift right into a downshift back into an upshift and the entire time I'm trying to merge into a lane. Not a vehicle I trust to own for an extended period of time nor did it give me any real sense of security with my kids in the vehicle. It just felt dumb. I sold my Tacoma for Ranger and it was a great move. Tacoma (for me) was uncomfortable as hell. I had a 12 TRD off Road. I live in Wyoming and the engine/powertain sucked at elevation. Rangers turbo with 10 speed is on another level especially in the mountains where NAs turn to crap. Tacoma cab same size at '05. If they ever go to a turbo AND make the seating position better I would consider Tacoma again. For now Ranger is better in every single way for me.
