    We purchased 3 Ford Rangers back in March 2019 for our Company's fleet, and with one of them just hitting 190k miles, we couldn't be happier with our purchase and will be switching the entire fleet next year. Good Truck and gets our Job done.

    Last September I traded my 2017 Ridgeline for a 2020 Ranger. I loved many things about the Ridgeline, but the reason I have a truck and not a car is to tow my 4,000 lbs travel trailer. I did it for a while with the Ridgeline, and it was ok a lot of the time, but it was never totally comfortable, and sometimes it was a real struggle. Towing the same trailer with the Ranger is a night and day difference. Way way better with the Ranger, no contest. I also love the fact that the Ranger is much narrower than the Ridgeline, and that makes it way more nimble as a daily driver around town. I am very happy with the trade.

    It never ceases to amaze me just how many people want a comfortable, reliable, practical, well driving, small truck - just for hauling Home Depot supplies and for decent grip in poor weather conditions; who walk straight passed the Honda dealer, to throw money at a Gladiator Rubicon - which they'll only ever go off-road with - when they accidentally bump up a curb in Publix car park. The rest of the world Ranger is almost identical to US versions apart from the engine choice and a 1050kg payload plus a 3500kg [3.5 ton] towing weight. The 2.0 four twin turbo diesel with 10 speed automatic is awesome. This, along with the HiLux and Isuzu are big sellers outside the USA. All have over 1 ton payload and 3.5 ton towing. The only Ranger here that cannot carry a ton is the Raptor which has coils at the back and only a 600kg payload. This version is not classified as a 'dual purpose vehicle' therefore is not tax efficient to buy or run in Europe. It is sold as a high-earner plaything.

      @hedydd2 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@ALMX5DP
      I would say that 99% of Rangers and 60+% of Transits sold have the 2.0 turbo diesel here in Europe. The favoured model in the UK is the Ranger Wildtrak which is the loaded top of the range model with the twin turbo engine. Up till now the 3.2 five cylinder turbo diesel has been popular but emissions has killed it off in Europe. No big deal because the latest 2.0 outperforms it in every way. More power and torque and way better fuel consumption. Also the 2.0 can be mated with the 10 speed auto, which is many times superior to the old six speed unit [which I own, with the discontinued mediocre 2.2 turbo diesel].

    Thanks for including so much towing information. I am looking at one of these to replace my 18 year old Dodge Dakota 4.7 V8. Quad Cab. The Dak is the perfect size, I don’t want anything bigger. To fit in my garage the narrower body is required. The main draw of turbo 4 + 10 speed is fuel economy. The V8 + 4 speed is a joke, I’d love to see 15 MPG with a load, I currently get just 11. Main use is weekend towing duties for a 2,000lb boat in flat Florida. I don’t go off road thus 2WD with a locker is enough. The A8 on the GM twins has issues so I’m avoiding them. I have no complaints about the car like interior of the Ranger though it would be nice is have oil and trans temp read outs while towing.
    Hoping that lower kits become available because the Ranger looks jacked up in stock form. I know most truck guys like that lifted looked but not me. I had a Ranger Splash many years ago - looked good but underpowered V6 for towing which is why I got a Dakota V8. Amazingly Fords boosted 4 has more HP and TQ then my old Dodge - engines sure have come a long way in 20 years.

    Great review. If ranger was a bit bigger, particularly in the back seat, I would have bought one. Plus I wish they had rebranded. I think “ranger” I think parts running truck.
    Wound up with a ridgeline. Way more roomy, better commuter, v6 reliability. Just a bit more restricted with towing and going way off road.

    I still prefer my old Ranger.
    I have no need for towing 5000 lb. I have no need for 270 hp. I have no need to move 5 people. And I sure as hell have no need for a touch screen, especially in a truck.
    But I do have a need for a truck that has a 6 ft bed and is only 200" long and is low enough to lift & retrieve items over the side of the bed.
    If they just took the old Ranger, updated it for safety, pulled some weight-savings tricks, and dropped in a modern 2.5L engine, it'd be the perfect truck. It would easily get mid-20s mpg, cost the same as a midsize sedan, and do everything I need & want it to do.

I don’t need all that cab in the new one and the back is a bunch of seats in the way. 212k miles no major repairs. Good little truck that I don’t want to part with. Love your vids, Alex. I generally agree with you across the board, but in this case, my opinion is that the only thing that the Ranger beats the Colorado/Canyon in is looks (especially the Chevy). I was stunned how much more uncomfortable I was in a Ranger test drive, from lack of head/knee/leg room front and rear to bouncy ride, weird surging in drivetrain, etc. The Canyon (my fave) is available in a standard (not short) bed with crew cab, and has an option for auto-4x4 which is perfect for winter conditions.

    I point to the New Class Action lawsuit that was just filed against FORD by owners of Ford Vehicles that have a 1.5 liter, 1.6 liter and 2.0 liter EcoBoost engine because of coolant leaks into the Cylinders causing expensive damage and catastrophic engine failure. It's an issue the lawsuit claims they have been aware of since 2010 when the EcoBoost engine first came onto the market and they have kept quiet about it. When owners brought vehicles in for repairs, Ford instead would offer "Temporary stop-gap remedies such as installing coolant level sensors." These merely warn the driver when there is no more coolant in the engine. It did nothing to stop the coolant from leaking into the cylinders.

    I bought a ranger for my daughter and like it more than a 1/2 ton. It's quick, easy to maneuver and the Ford 360 safety is a bonus.
    The ten speed transmission keeps the rpms low which I liked over a higher reving V6. The 2.3L will run a mid 14 second 1/4 mile.
