  • Demonstration of changing the rotation on a SG90 servo with resistors.
This is just a demonstration and not intended to be a practical application.

Afols_Anonymous_ commented on this video (Video Reply - FlySky FS GR3E receiver. • Video Reply - FlySky F... ) "Thank you for this great video. I have connected the servo to channel 3 but servo only turns 35* degree not 90 degree. is it related with the remote. I have seen that with arduino people are able to turn it 90 degrees but i didn't see who can turn 90 degrees with that rc. Could you please advise? Thanks in advance."
In reply to another comment here is the sequence I followed to bind the receiver to the transmitter
FIRST switch OFF receiver and transmitter
Check you know where the BIND plug should go on the receiver
Insert BIND plug in the BIND position on the receiver (still switched OFF)
Press and hold the BIND button on the transmitter
With your finger STILL on the BIND button, switch on the transmitter
Take your finger off the BIND button
    Now switch ON the receiver
    The light should go steady
    Switch OFF the receiver
    Switch OFF the transmitter
REMOVE the BIND plug from the receiver
    Switch ON the transmitter
    Switch ON the receiver
    They should now be working.
I am not endorsing these products so I suggest you do your own search as the prices and specifications will vary and the links I used will probably be out of date when you come to read this. I just list the item title and you can cut and paste it into your eBay search. It will probably work on other online stores too.

Brilliant Graham. This is a perfect solution for anyone without the "End Point" function on their transmitter. I am sure you have an "End Point" setting on your other Fly Sky transmitter with the LCD screen. I have a couple of Futaba transmitters with the "End Point" function which lets you adjust the travel of the servo to higher or lower from the default position.
This alteration of yours is perfect for a transmitter without the function. Just adjust the servo to your needs and then stick the little pots on the side of the servo before installing it. Excellent idea. I have never seen this done. I do realize you are doing this for demonstration but you "could" use this idea as a practical application if you don't have a transmitter with lots of functions, particularly the "End Point" function. 👍👍👍

It was another request. I was very sceptical about this working, even after watching some videos on TH-cam so I had a go myself. I used potentiometers so I could check it over a range of resistance. I did something like this when I converted servos to continuous rotation and didn't find any difference using a range of resistors so this was a surprise. For continuous rotation I was trying to vary the speed of rotation rather than the range of rotation so that would be the difference.

great minds thing alike , i like the reasoning of getting the wires out instead of moding in fix resistors , plus that way adding a return to default or other presets with a mutiple position switch becomes feasable , cheers ! of course ill still use the default endpoints i managed to get out of my tx16s with an r168 with these little servos , but now i can break out of that ~1000ms-~2000ms limit i was hitting using that max range in the translation , or just lower the endpoints from the ground if necessary after that

Thanks for the nice informative video. I've been playing with driving servos with micro controllers lately. It's good to see other methods.

thats really interesting right there, i never tried that myself in all those years i had rc cars, now we know.

Generally there is no reason to do this, but the question I had was in relation to needing a servo to rotate further than normal.

Perfect video. Thank you for your interest to my question and thank you for this amazing informative video. I will try and inform you with 2.2 resistors . Wiring outside was good idea by the way. I will do the same since the space is very limited inside the servo.

      @GrandadIsAnOldMan  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

You might find inside is easier if your resistors are the right length. Wiring outside involves twice as many solder joints. If I wasn't doing it for demonstration purposes I would have cut the potentiometer legs and put the resistors in the gaps.

@@GrandadIsAnOldMan i am not so much talented yet at soldering. i have ordered 0,75 soldex wire for tiny jobs. i am curious that if i cut the potentiometer legs and put the 2.2k resistors they can touch to the motor and short cut maybe. i will try when the tiny wire arrives and share my experiences. Best Regards

@@Bricksfaction Good luck 👍 The only way to get experience is to keep trying, so maybe practice on something else 😊

I notice one of my cars' transmitters gives me very poor throw. Didn't want to rip the electronics out as I'd bespoked them in... this looks viable. Thanks buddy.

With many transmitters, you should be able to adjust the end points in the settings. I had never considered fiddling with the servo. This was another request from the comments.
