I’m Usher user for 10 yrs, never encountered any issues! Last yr I bought my 4th spk ML802, compare to other I have in the same price, it's an absolute bargain. As a woodworker, those who insist on using wooden mallets are simply not practical. After seeing other high priced spks processes, I must say their crafts is already quite impressive. While there are certainly some details to improve upon, in terms of the finished product and especially sound quality, it's definitely worth it!
$26,000 US for a pair of speakers is an absolute bargain? I'll just go in my basement and chip what I need off my collection of gold bars.
I was interested in Usher back then. But they had a thin distributor network and it wasn't possible to approach one.
So I got with a PMC Fact8 and I'm happy with it.
Glad you like them, personally I think they look awful and I was very unimpressed by the standard of soldering.
Primarily handmade, even the speaker driver. Thumbs up to this Taiwanese manufacturer.
I hope they reply to questions and/or requests for help with their products via email. Their mainland brothers are very lacking in aftermarket service and help.
@@alanrogs3990One other point- they are not using political prisoners as slave labor to lower cost.
@@kenandbarbie-b6c I am friends with an audio manufacturer in China and he doesn't use slave labor.
@@alanrogs3990I know that and do not mean everyone there is doing that. Most likely they do not, but some CCP partnered operations do. This is outlawed in Taiwan. Some mainland Chinese companies like Fosi Audio is doing a great job on budget amps sporting Texas Instruments ICs & quality supporting parts. I am selective in what & who I purchase things from CCP China. I have no such reservation with Taiwan at this time.
I own a fine pair of wood veneered Usher 520s speakers. I have had them for almost 15 years. Very good speakers and well made.
Out of my 25 years in the glass business, I have only seen one home that had high end speakers. Now had I said 35 years in the glass business I am sure I would tell you I seen more. But what I see is almost everyone uses bluetooth speakers now. And wow very beautiful and well crafted handmade speaker, I think the only thing I could criticize is the screwing of the circuit board to the enclosure without stand offs
Actually there was a standoff... it looked like foam to absorb vibration and to isolate the board.
Die Arbeiten wie die Büffel ohne Gefühl
@@jimtincher7357 Notice how the board locally flexed once screwed down 12:51 . Inducing unnecessary flex in the brittle board doesn't seem like good practise, stand offs would be better. 10:37 those 2 inductors (coils) should be mounted perpendicular to each other. In their current orientation the magnetic field from one is close enough to induce a current in the other.
I think the professional level of workers is still poor
@@wally7856 maybe its part of the sound design ?
Anybody else cringe when they screwed in the crossover PCB directly to the wood without any standoffs and it warped because they provided no clearance for the through hole soldering underneath? 😬
I saw the same thing and literally said "OUCH" out loud!
Especially when you consider these things start at $14,300 US dollars per pair!
☝️
@@user-tq1pd6pv3eyes too much glue
@@fiscal_registre Ты лучше сделаешь?
From the video description: "How are high-quality yet affordable speakers produced?". The answer is blowing in the wind, because in my mind at least, 16000 US dollars/set is not what I'd call affordable speakers. The speakers do however look like they're top of the line! Love the finish, and the attention to detail, i.e. home rolling the passover filters.

12:48 A very Hi-End approach. :D
nothing wrong here. The tool they are using to screw it in has a calibrated ratchet mechanism so that the screws cannot be over tightened. The boards are extremely flexible and durable as all modern circuit boards are. Go ahead and try to snap one in half with just your hands... It will easily bend 10 times what you see here with no damage.
@@102AlienJim All decent speakers I had disassembled used standoffs.
Many of the speakers I've dissassembled used standoffs as well as hot glue to attach the crossover components to the circuit board. The inside of a speaker cabinet gets plenty loud and years of vibrating capacitors and resistors will degrade solder joints.

Super satisfying thanks for sharing, also I've noticed how many women are doing the soldering and more intricate details of the build on most if not all the factories I've seen. Women do have that eye for detail, I'm a guy but I just know that's facts so love that women are being recognised for their extra abilities in different areas.
The famous Marantz vacuum tube amplifier is said to have been manufactured by female workers in Long Island, New York in its early days.

Amazing... the best qualitys Made of Taiwan...so beautiful.. enjoy your music with Usher...❤❤...15:12.
They learned it from Japan.
Taiwan is the the leader of so many hi end silicone chips and stuff now, they have tech the rest of the world depend on, the chip shortage the has affected the world a couple of years ago was all because of a fire somewhere in Taiwan from memory. Not to get political either but Taiwan must be protected from China if it comes down to it. This little country is amazing and deserves the world's support to ensure its freedom continues. ❤️

I was honestly surprised at how manual a lot of these processes still are!
I enjoyed watching this video .Some good production techniques. I used to work for Duntech Audio back in the 80s and wathing this brought back a lot of good memories.
I've never ( cough) put a screw through a foam surround... Those cabinets are beautiful!

OSHA would love this place.
no gloves, no masks, no vacs on sanders. I've seen people forging liquid metal in India in bare feet too so I guess it's all relative 🤔 😳
Trabalho fantástico. Saudações do Brazil.
This is why there is so many people in audio. The profits are insane. I get that it is low volume, but still. The ones being made retail for 14 grand, the taller ones 20. With 1000 dollars in materials and labor, good return.
There are some that are really high value and little to no profits as well, like Philharmoninc Audio and Ascend acoustics. Philharmonic in particular will sell you probably a speaker that costs him like $3K+ in parts and labor but only makes out like $100-200 per speaker
I think pro audio has lower profits and much better engineering. Midfield monitors or even main monitors.
@@ubacow7109 Agree - Ascend puts a lot of money into custom SEAS drivers and laminated bamboo cabinets, while competitors are using MDF and cheap drivers.
@@niceguy100000 I have Kali LP-6 monitors, and they are insanely good for $400/pair. Plus, no amplification is required, which adds even more value.
that's the real bullshit of audiophile audio. price is insane, but such videos confirm there's no rocket science in it. just very well, hand made speaker from decent self made components. definitely not worth these insane money. adam audio monitors (to name of other dozens!!) are relatively well priced and sound just amazing for my needs.
Excellent video ! 👍
12:49 they should put a filler ring under the circuit board to distribute the tie force as it can crack the PCB board
Una obra de arte esa corneta
Should not max torque the screws in until they are all screwed in..also she max torque the screws on one area only..this puts alot of stress on that one area..good way to stripp screws..u alternate diagonally the application..
Watch some B&W videos, to see what true high-end loudspeaker manufacturing looks like.
First of all your statement is not relevant to My response..I am a mechanical engineer and a hi end audiophile for over 40 years...and be careful about referencing b&w speakers because only the 800 series is manufactured in England and everything else in mass produced in China..and I am not diminishing some of the Qualiry components that come out of China..But emphasing the "mass produced" statement
They didn't show the whole sequence, so hard to tell if she only torqued one or all.
Also, the driver used may be set to only reach a set torque.
Yes, but my point with a heavy driver and a huge magnet structure has a lot of weight centralized initially.so the pull force will be enhanced in that location before the whole driver is installed.also the driver with that much weight should be supported while all the fasteners are attached. Then and only then should they be torqued in a diagonally opposed fashion
@@MuscleBN true, but honestly there is so much wrong in this video that they don't seem to care much...
What an amazing experience watching these quality built speakers with such care and a love for craftsmanship!

I’ll stay with my 1974 Altec Lansing 150 # a pc speakers 15” woofers, horn mid range, horn high freq. all Alinco magnet. Range 10hz to 20 kHz 110 db 1 watt at 3 meters. Low volume to 100 watts just sounds beautiful, superb imaging outstanding voice of all instruments, saxophones are dreamy. sware I can hear the horse hair against the strings when I play orchestra, play Metallica. It’s like being surrounded right on stage with them. Very sweet for 50 yr old speakers
These are $15k but that’s the beauty of audio equipment, if you’re happy with your sound then stick with it.
After a certain point it’s all subjective anyways.

I'm not sure the crossovers are getting some good attention. The boards were bending as they are tightened down. I wouldn't trust that not to develop a problem. So much for high end. Nothing like TAD speakers that are true high end.
12:50 yep...
Agree, that didn’t look very professional.
@@ChicagoRob2 for cheap speaker would be OKAY but not for those "HIGH END" speakers they ask like 10k for!!!

Yep, audiophiles criticise mass production, but tolerance would be much tighter than shown here... seal are kind of random and probably differ from speaker to speaker

This is far from high-end, more like a ordinary speaker with expensive look. Nothing wrong with that, most consumers buy with their eyes, to impress people
