      Coming from 7R3 and wanting a smaller form factor. Just got a used 6100 it’s successor and is definitely not a slouch. I am liking it more now than the FF. Attached my FF lenses on it and gives me definitely great range at 24 MP rather than 18 MP from Super 35 from 7R3. I found a 6000 for 250$ with 16-55 and now I am thinking to try it as I got 3 extra batteries for the 6100. Definitely better feel after learning tons on experience. FF is not always better than apsc. I am just a hobbyist but came long way and now going back to older models to look for the minimalist gear.

      @pinikpikantv3555 small size too! Whatever works for you. FF is amazing, but APSC can ack a punch in a great form factor.

    In my very limited testing I found Intelligent Auto to be better than Superior if you're not shaking around a lot. I agree with others - if the batteries sit around they drain to empty so you pretty much have to leave them on the charger...and you may want 2-3 of them.

    So I use the "P" mode probably 90% of the time. I'm not good enough to look at a tree and decide "Oh, F5.6 at 1/200th of a second seems about right". Putting it in "P" the camera makes a decision what it wants to do and then I can either go with it or override one or more settings.

    Great video, was looking ages for a first camera as i'm a complete beginner. Really wanted to get into automotive photography, after loads of searching, i decided to get a used A6000 with a 1.8 50mm lens as the price was just very decent & in basically new condition. Camera has been sitting in my desk for last 2 months as when i got it, i thought this seems abit daunting. After watching your video, it's made life alot easier and now i know some decent basics to just go out and give it a try etc. Very happy man now

  • @sovuhar

    Hi! it is another topic, but I want to ask you. In "Creative styles" there are choices between "standard" and "vivid" (excluding other ones). So, when i point the camera to a dark spot and set it to "vivid" i lose details in shadows, but if change it to "standard" i can see more details in shadows. Does it mean i can win 1 or 2 ISO stops in low light if set to "standard" as apposed to "vivid"? Or is it just my imagination?
    Sorry for my lame english
    Thank you!

    • @kyletaggart
      @kyletaggart  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Interesting. I’d say take a look after you take them on a computer or a bigger screen. Vivid is darkening the image. It’s more contrast. Also, if you want the most out of the dynamic range of the camera (highlights / shadows), I’d suggest you shoot RAW rather than jpeg. Then you can edit later and retrieve things. However it also depends on how you expose the image.

    Great video I didn’t know that about memory recall so thanks for that. One thing, so if you can record video by clicking the record button, what is the point in the video on the dial? So if I’m in manual mode, I set all my settings and click record button it’ll stRt recording with those settings right? What’s the difference if I turn the dial to movie mode?

    • @kyletaggart
      @kyletaggart  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Record button just gives more flexibility, and as you’re in manual mode when you hit record, you’re in charge of all the settings. It’s not on auto anything unless you tell it to be.

      A good first lens is the Sony 50mm f1.8, a great street photography lens is the Sony 35mm f1.8, but it’s more expensive. The Sigma 30mm f1.4 is also an excellent choice for street photography.

    Hey Kyle, I'm back lol. I wanted to knw if you have a video explaining the difference on using a "fe" lens on the a6000 or a6300?
    Thanks in advance 🙏🏾 🙏🏾 🙏🏾

      I recently brought the FE 28-70MM which is a F/3.5-5.6 lens. The lowest mine goes wide open is like F/4.5, I think it does that because it is on a crop sensor body and it's not using its whole cut out (the back of the lens) space is the reasoning why it's a completely one whole F/stop down. Now I hope I explained that last part good.
      The 28-70MM is a really great lens to start with (especially for the price point) if you are thinking about going FF in the future. It has became my native Sony goto lens in my collection. (16MM, 18-55MM, 55-210MM). Good luck!

    Excellent video! Great stuff! If you don't mind my asking: what Gimbal Stabiliser would recommend (if any)? Also: If you can recommend one (just one) extra lens to this camera, what would that be?

    • @kyletaggart
      @kyletaggart  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not super familiar with gimbals. But I know tons of people love the weebil lab one (newest one). Also the lens question, I guess if you could only have one, it would be the 16-55 f2.8. Very pricy though. Or 18-105mm f4, less pricy. If we are talking a fixed focal length I’d go Sony 35mm f1.8.

    Hi Kyle,
    I am making a trip to the west coast of the usa this summer. Me and my dad decided to team up and get a camera beforehand, so we got an A6000. I have been practising shooting with it for a while now. Do you think I should take my pictures whilst on holiday in A-mode? I want to use them for my Instagram and portfolio. Also, do you think shooting in RAW is really neccesary? It uses up a lot of space.. Have a great weekend.

    • @kyletaggart
      @kyletaggart  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Awesome questions and I did a similar trip! (See old vlogs). If you don’t want to edit photos afterwords, or only want to do junior editing, then jpeg is perfectly fine. However if you have a shot that’s super bright and you want to fix it, RAW is the way to go. RAW is like an a digital canvas that you can tweak to your hearts content over and over, jpeg has baked in processing that allows less editing freedom. However a jpeg May look great straight if of camera, as the camera has done the processing already. If you’re just starting, and / or have one memory card, go ahead and shoot jpeg for now.
      A Mode is a great way to start, if you’re just shooting jpeg, and just learning, start there. Use A mode, shutter speed is auto, and ISO starts on auto. So then if things are too bright, turn the F number UP 3.5 -> 5.6 and so on to darken an image. Remember, it will bring more of the photo in focus when that number changes. If you don’t want the F number to change, like you have your dad in front of something and you want the blurry background to stay, but things are too bright, take ISO off auto and set it to 100, and then go up from there to achieve the brightness you want. Hope you have an amazing trip! Hope you’re seeing the Grand Canyon, antelope canyon, and horseshoe bend! I saw this places on my west coast trip.

      @@kyletaggart Thank you for the kind and honest advice. I personally really like editing and I have become quite good at it, but I can imagine my family (especially my older sister..) wanting to have the photo's during the trip itself so she can post them.. You know how girls can be man, haha. I therefore think my best option would be to shoot in both JPEG and raw. I'll just get an extra SD or 2. Cheers!

    • @kyletaggart
      @kyletaggart  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I suggest shooting RAW, and then you can do WiFi transfer (and they get converted to jpeg). If you have Lightroom mobile, you can then edit in the fly, in the car, and send em quickly to whomever wants to post. 🙌🏻

Is honestly suggest buying new too. Takes the stress out, and it’s not much cheaper used these days. Also checkout Amazon used.

    Changing the iso in the priority modes is an indirect way of changing the variable element. Saying you can change the iso in shutter priority but you can't change the aperture is nonsense because that's what changing the iso will do....

      atm i have a nikon d5200 dslr it has 24.1 megapixels i know the sensor matters more than the mp but i dont know of ill see a big difference in loss of quality the only thing id like on this camera is a touchscreen and a flip screen instead of just a tilt screen im planing on using it for pics more than vids

      Sony a6400 or Canon M50 are more up your alley than (both have flip screens and the M50 has a full touch screen). The a6000 only overheats when doing longer than 15 min. video in a hot/room temp environment. Also Sony makes Nikon’s camera sensors, not sure if they made that specific one, but Sony is their provider for most sensors. With a mirrorless you’ll be able to see changes in the viewfinder as you change them (electronic viewfinder), and the focus points are vastly higher than the Nikon DSLR’s.

    The blurred background.. Is it onli for objects which are close range or if the object is like 5 metres away from the camera can still get good focus n blurry background?
    I use a6000 with 16mm f 1.4 prime

    • @kyletaggart
      @kyletaggart  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That does matter but you can also get a blurry background by having the background be further behind the subject. So say a person in a field 5 meters away from camera, but then mountains behind the person in the far distance, you’ll be able to blur those at f1.4 well. Also for future reference, lens compression gives a better blurry background too. So you’ll see more blur or a “creamier” background at longer focal lengths. Like 50, 85, 100, ect
