Nora, my friend.... use. The. Yarn. If you dont you will save it forever and never have room in your stash for more thrifted treasures
I love this sentiment. Use the yarn!
I see you recognize there can be a joy in knitting a sweater in pieces. Structurally, its stronger too
It seems like such a refreshing approach when I always have so much bulk on my needles lol
Your editing and video structure is excellent. You’re doing such a good job. A pleasure to see. I’m getting my winter knits planned too. I’m so inspired. Thanks for adding so many new ideas for me to mull over. 😂🎉
Thank you so much! I am so glad you’ve found some inspiration! 💛
I vote for the pink purse first because it will make you smile with the bright color throughout the winter.
OMG, a whole dress in 2 months 😮😮😮. Talking about knitting goals. You are so talented.
Ambitious or ridiculous-we shall find out!! 😂
The Musselburgh Hat might be fun with the boucle yarn on 1-side! It would make a cool brim when folded!
The expensive skein of yarn could also be used in the yoke of a fairisle sweater!
oooooh!!!! fun ideas! I like it!!
What a cool idea!
Okay some thoughts: The fuchsia bouclé is *dying* to be made into a cute little handbag. For the hat, I'd go with the blush alpaca. The stark white with the hand dyed yarn is a bit too "candycane" vibes (unless of course that's what you're going for!). And for a cozy sweater recommendation, I'm currently knitting Midori Hirose's "White Mountains Light" pattern and it's a dream to knit up. Super well written, very adaptable, and a slight boxy shape that would probably lend itself well to a split hem. The Light pattern uses sport/dk, but I think the original uses worsted. Highly recommend. Happy Knitting 😊
You are so right about the bag and hat! I'll definitely have to swatch. Thank you for the rec!!! 💛
I think the pink alpaca yarn would be a lovely pair of mittens. Mittens aren't as much of a statement when they're in a big color bc they aren't on your head. And alpaca is so soft and warm they would feel lovely. Alpaca isn't as sturdy as wool so they wouldn't be like big wear and tear mittens but they'd be awesome fashion mittens. ❤
I do need a pair of mitts 🤔
You could make the bag with the fun pink yarn...then use your special variegated pink yarn for a hat and wear them together...? I think it would be adorable. Love all your plans and can't wait to see them as wips!! ❤
Omg you’re right! It would all make the cutest pink winter accessories set! 💛
Punchy pink purse!!!!!!
I totally feel like that when I go into a shop or I’m talking with the makers and you spent all this time with them so you definitely wanna purchase some thing fully committed once you got the item up at the cash register. 😂 I love that you use affordable yarn to and that you thrift yarn. I never thought about checking at the thrift store for yarn. Not everybody can afford super expensive yarn. So it makes it more doable for all your viewers.❤
I think it adds another really fun layer to the hobby! I also want to start incorporating more “splurge” pieces here and there to celebrate the money saved on the thrifted ones!!
You are such an inspiration to me! It is so easy to lose my knitting mojo, but then I watch an episode of aka Nora Knits and I want to knit all the things! ❤
Awww yayyyy!!! Thank you so much 💛
Hi Nora! I really like your videos, your energy and enthusiasm is contagious...It's hard to believe that you have only been knitting since January! Your thrifted finds are great and sends a wonderful message about perhaps rescuing a lost treasure...Keep up the good work! 😃
Aww I love that 💛 my little yarn rescues!! Thank you so much 🥰
Hi! Make all the things! Use all the yarn! Buy more yarn!! Have a blast!! You rock!!!!!
Best comment ever 💛
❤️
Ambitious plans indeed! I really would love to see your dress completed next month. Go girl! Just do it!
Me tooo!!!! Thank you!!
I love your videos! I love your editing style! I love your humour! I love your energy and personality! I honestly jump a little and smile when you’ve posted a new video🥹❤️😍 thank you so much!
Aww thank you so so much!!
Ohhh using the thrifted brown alpaca as the base for the bag is a fantastic use for the yarn. I've only used the Berroco alpaca light for my boyfriends mittens. I'm jealous of how sturdy they are. The alpaca content fills in the gaps between stitches in a way that would be well suited to a bag.
If you're looking for a shacket the curly cuff jacket by rilleruth would be AMAZING. The jacket has a boucle lining that your white thrifted boucle would be perfect for! Using a brown for the outer layer would give amazing sherpa jacket vibes. Love your videos!
Sooo good to know! Thank you! I have seen that jacket and totally love the vibe! It’s definitely on the list of considerations! Thank you 💛
Love your ambition to knit all the things ❤
I’m inspired by your thriftiness. I never have that kind of luck thrifting yarn. BUT I love that you come home and figure out what you WOULD have spent on a sweet thrift find! I do that too!! Or when I get something deeply discounted. Lol makes me feel so accomplished!!!
It’s such a big part of the fun for me! I think I just go so frequently and only have a good find 5-10% of the time…but I have been so lucky!
Thankful to see your sweet face when I sat down to do an Italian BO on my balaclava. Excited to watch!
Aww yay! Nothing better than a little company during an Italian BO 😅 that's another thing I've been itching to make. Too many ideas!
Hi Nora - I think most men like simple so I chose to knit Lion Brands' Neighborly Cardigan in a size 4 for my daughters' future father-in-law. Took about 1 month for me to knit cause I knit slowly. Very easy - well written and classy. Used Knit Picks Wool of the Andes - 100% wool in Onyx Heather and did the zipper. Everyone was very impressed ..should do this for your dad.. Happy knitting.👍
Great recommendation! Thank you!!!
Such a fun and interesting video. I love that you choose patterns so different than the patterns other podcasters choose. If it were my choice I would hold the pink boucle and the white boucle together for the bag. I decided to knit my husband a sweater and chose the Stick Season by Rebecca Clow because it has lots of info for adapting to a Mens sweater plus he liked it! I purchased 15 balls ( 2,400 yards) of Berroco Arno from Little Knits for $82 including shipping. She is a small online yarn shop that has some fantastic deals. It came yesterday and is so soft and lightweight. I hope you do many more of this style video but any video from you is always a pleasure to watch. Thank you!
Thank you so much! I appreciate the tip! I do love the look of that sweater, I hope he loves it!
I really like your style. Your knit choices are very inspirational and I always find another piece I want to knit. 😊
Thank you so much 🥰
Heya Nora, you continue to bless us with extra videos, thanks. For the Boulevard Bag, I LOVE that hot magenta bold color, what an opportunity. As for that pretty brown Ultra alpaca yarn, I’d consider carrying a thin linen/cotton yarn with it… as fibers like alpaca/bamboo/silk tend to grow. Might impact on the shape long term.
The Musselburgh hat is definitely on my list. Knitty Knatty hypes it up so much. I’ve got to give it a go. Shaket is a new term for me, I’ll have to borrow that one. 😊 The folklore cardigan looks cute.
That American Made Alpaca yarn is gorgeous 😆. I always appreciate it when a shop has price labels. It’s deer horn buttons part two! Heeheheheheehe.
I love the length of that Never Sweater, I’ll have to look that one up. I want a duster cardigan so bad, this is definitely a future goal of mines.
Great video as always Nora. Take care, Anna
Thank you so much, Anna!!!!! I’m glad I shared my thoughts about that ultra alpaca because quite a few people have mentioned I should hold it with something else! So good to know!! Idk why I always find myself cornered into making (really beautiful) purchases 😂 thank you for hanging out 💛
I’ve been excited all day to watch this! Yay! Pink purse definitely.
Aw yayy!!! I think I have to agree!
You always make me smile - and I am a beginner knitter- you are so encouraging, - love to listen to your plans and give me so many ideas - (I call them “Great Expectations”.
Ahhh yes! The great expectations! At least I know that most won’t happen 😅 a girl can dream! Thank you so much 🥰
You are not wasting the yarn.you thrifted it....such a clever person. How luxurious to make the bags you want! Do it
Wait you’re so right! If people have designer bags made out of all sorts of luxurious materials, why shouldn’t I make my own?? 👏🏻
Nora thanks for sharing your winter knits. Have you looked at the Dawn to Dust Shacket by Tiffany Thai? I really like that one.
Yes! It is on the list!
You have grown to be my favorite knitting channel!
Awww yayyyy! Thank you so much!
Immediately when you showed the pink option for the bag, my brain went "hot pink hot pink hot pink!" But then you showed the white and I got torn haha. I fully support both. Both is good.
Also I'm working on the Never Sweater test knit at the moment and it is definitely a reliable stockinette in the round project!
Both is good!! I love hear that!!
Use the valentine yarn for socks, bold colour choices are completely ok on your feet:)!
If I ever doubt the fact that a beautiful skein of hand dyed yarn deserves to be knit or crocheted into a hat or a cowl for myself or a deserving friend, I look at a catalog, like the Sundance Catalog, to see what they are selling a wool hat for. Then I say, OK, I am fine with using a skein of $40 yarn to make myself a hat. I have a go to hat pattern that I know works every time so I am never disappointed.
As always I really enjoy your channel. Those long cardigans are a go to! Can't wait to see the results.
Thank you so much!!!! 🥰
Hi Nora! I love all three ideas for your boulevard bag! The only hesitation I have is that the brown alpaca will have a ton of drape. This is great for garments, but sometimes compromises the integrity of an accessory like a bag. I know you talked about using mohair, and I think that would definitely help with the structure. Anyway, those are just my thoughts. Happy knitting!
Such great feedback! That actually is part of my concern and I'm not so keen on knitting something with the tightest gauge it will allow. I think I'll have to wait and see what I'm working with on the brown mohair front before I go down that road
I’ve experienced the button scenario, too … I get it! 😂❤
Okay I love the Christmas dress pattern choice! I love the idea of it being midi but i also am kinda obsessed with the long sleeved shorter version next to the one you’re inspired by!
I think I like either the Eun sweater or the Never Sweater for your big sweater to replace the h&m one!
I LOVE that one too!!! I am excited to try it on as I go and decide!
Hello from the Rocky Mountains of 🇨🇦. Thanks for a great video! I feel like your plans are completely doable, you just need to move somewhere with 7-8 months of winter.😉 😊
Made me chuckle 😂 thank you for joining me!
If you haven't considered it yet, those single handdyed skeins of yarn are perfect for colourwork. I love doing a colourwork cowl with a skein of handdyed and one solid colour
I totally think that’s a great idea! I have not yet got into the world of color work but it’s on my mind for 2024!
a knitted dress!...I respect your ambition! Love your videos :)
Thank you!!! Shoot for the moon 🌝
I love your no-nonsense approach to yarn purchasing. So much variety and thought goes into your purchases. And I was laughing so much at the story of your precious skein of hand-dyed yarn. I've been there, too! For your Dad, have you thought about the Lanark sweater by @creabea? It's a great design and lots of pattern support available.
Yes I love that sweater! I think that might be a great fit!
Omg! I love the dress pattern and the mods you are planning are perfection! Can’t wait to see it. 😍
Yayyyy me neither 😅
Hi Nora! For your Dads sweater, if getting it done by his birthday is too soon you can always give it to him for Father’s Day. That will give you plenty of time. The purse yarn, I personally like the first option of the brown, but then thinking about the drapy yarn it might not be a good option. The fuchsia would be fantastic tho!
Such a great idea! Thank you!
I love your videos!!! You’re such a charm and your personality makes me wanna be your knitting friend !
Thank you so much 🥰🥰🥰
So this similar thing happened to me. Signature dpns. They were like $90 but I was too far into it to say no. I haven't used them yet either. ❤ your channel!
😂 I am so sorry you haven’t used them! I hope they come in handy one day!!
Heheheheee, I’ve been there. At the register, inner dialogue, in my Homer Simpson voice: “uhhhh….d’oh!”.
I've binged all your videos Nora......I love them! You're so down to earth and honest with your thoughts. As for your mammoth list of winter knits.....I'd make socks with the variegated yarn, and for your h&m sweater replacement have a look at the gentle lopi by melody Hoffman.....I am half way through one already and it's a lovely pattern! Now I see how ambitious you have been I will go and rethink my to-knit list........😊
Thank you so so much 🥰 I will have to give that pattern a look!! I definitely recommend shooting for the moon 🌝
great video. you make me want to knit it all! got some progress on my new grandson's blanket..he was 3 weeks early and I have to get it done asap. so great knitting time with you.
Awww what a sweet knit 🥰 thank you for hanging out with me!
I literally saw the ‘knit a men’s sweater’ that you showed, bought the pattern AND the yarn the cast on that same night! So excited!
oooh yayy! It just looks like the perfect guy sweater! I hope it is!
😂cracking up at your expensive skein of yarn story… “THAT IS ITS PURPOSE” 😂
😂 I don't know why I am always in this position!
Yes, yes, the mohair will look great with your $40 yarn. I think you will end up loving the hat.
I love the blossom cake color that you picked. I crocheted and loved the granny pop cardigan (also a raglan) by mjs off the hook with another caron cake and it turned out really pretty and soft.
Thank you!!! I shall look into that pattern!
So much fun to watch and I love that you put in a lot of pictures of the patterns as you go through.
Thank you 🥰🥰
Your Christmas dress will be gorgeous!
I don’t even knit and you’re my favorite! I love your genuine silliness.
Ahhh yayy! Thank you!!!
So I have been knitting the Folklore cardigan for, uh, almost three years, and while it's been slow going for me (I got tendinitis last year sooo) I really love the pattern. The textures are so fun and it is a nice change from seamless knits if I want to jump around projects. I'm looking forward to seeing you work on it!
Oh my! I hope your body has been healing 💛 I’m excited for th change up!
have you seen the dawn to dusk shacket by tiffknit? it has the typical look of a buttoned shirt ~
also the step-by-step sweater by handmade by florence is a good basic sweater free pattern! especially with the gauge of the blossom cake yarn ^^
Yes!! It is definitely on the list!! I didn’t realize the Florence sweater was a similar gauge! That could be nice and easy!
Hi Nora, I knit the sunami cardigan it's a lovely cardigan with lace. And cables around the border which you knit at the same time as the body. I absolutely love the dress, I hope you get it done in time it would look lovely at Christmas xx
Thanks for sharing the Sunanami Cardigan. It looks so classic. -Anna
I have a few truly over the top skeins of variegated hand-dyed yarn... my most obnoxious is two skeins of a green and white, GLITTERY yarn......... it's sitting on my shelf haunting me. I don't know who I was when I bought it. I'm excited to see what you make out of your skein! I've really been enjoying your videos
Oh my goodness, glitter?! I love that. Sounds like a great bit of yarn to use up for the holidays! Perhaps a pillow? What fun to put out for the season! 💛
I had a hard time finding a yarn for my boyfriend's sweater as well, but I ended up going with Valley Yarns Whatley and he loves it! It is a cotton alpaca blend. It is really inexpensive but super soft and lightweight. He is quite big (6'2", 250lbs) and for a sweater I needed 13 balls of this. He also runs verrry warm, so I figured the cotton content would help mitigate that! I haven't finished the sweater yet but I think it'll be a hit.
Oh soooo smart! Thank you for the rec!!
Hi Nora, another great episode! Thank you. For the men's sweater maybe Cascade 220 Superwash would be a good reasonably priced option for worsted yarn that's easy care. There is a great color if you want something dark but with some hints of color in certain light. It's called Galaxy #367. A couple other awesome heather moody colors that wouldn't be so solid that they become boring to knit, but not too loud if the guy you knit for is a more classic dresser are, #860 Smoke Heather, #327 Storm Cloud Heather, or #1923 Red Wine Heather. There's just so many choices and I've always had good luck using Cascade yarns. I have a sweater's quantity of Galaxy and of Red Wine Heather bagged up and ready to start a sweater some day, but first I think I'm going to make a Shacket, once my elbow is healed. I've got some Juniper Moon Herriot (Alpaca) that is a hank or two of a variety of earthy fall colors and I think it might work great for the plaid Shacket that I mentioned in a comment on the Shacket episode. Have a great day & take care.
Thank you so so much for this recommendation! Funny enough-Cascade was exactly what I had in mind!! I appreciate your insight! Thank you!!!
Hi Nora! I was literally just about to comment that I knit a "Learn to Knit a Men's Sweater" for my father-in-law last year for Christmas and I looked up and there it was on screen as you were scrolling through projects! I can verify that it is an excellent Dad sweater! The only change I would make is to maybe add some decreases toward the wrists or do a ribbed cuff. The i-cord bind off without the extra decreases looks a liiiiittle wonky, but otherwise, it was a great quick knit and the 5x1 ribbing looks so crisp! I love your videos! It's so fun to have a space to nerd out over knitting and yarn!
Aww yayyy!! That's actually my one hang up with just looking through the photos--the cuffs! So good to know, thank you 🥰
I am so in that place of saving my expensive yarn. I’m a crocheter who discovered hand dyed yarn a year ago. It’s. So. Gorgeous! I’ve amassed a small fortune in variegated, tonal, and speckled treasure. All this year I’ve been crocheting through my “cheap” yarn in anticipation of 2024 and a year of learning to knit that lovely pricey yarn. My brain equates expensive with knitting - maybe because it seems to require less yarn. 🤷🏼♀️
So funny how we think that way! I agree with the people in the comments here. Knit the yarn, use the yarn! It’s always better made up into something than sitting in a stash!
I think the fab (Fabel!) dress would be a wonderful accomplishment by X-mas. Everything else would be gravy.
I’m with you! Fingers crossed!🤞
The Berroco Alpaca will pill quite a bit. I’m thinking that may have been part of Lily Kate’s reason for choosing Boucle. Excellent and fun podcast. Keep it up!
Gooood thinking! We shall see! Thank you!
Tripping through Michael's one day for something unrelated, I saw a barrel of Caron Cakes and stopped dead in my tracks -- bought a few gorgeous colorways and knit a pair of rowdy Stephen West leggings, They came out SO GREAT, and I can thrash them in the wash. Soft, beautiful, highly entertaining to knit because stockinette + shifting colors. One day I'll wear them to work with a long black sweater and boots and no-one will recognize me. (Typically all wool, all neutral, all the time) Sometimes it's just acrylic for the win --
Omg so fun 💛 seriously, sometimes a little acrylic is all you need!!!
I am sooo excited to see that dress on you!!!
Right?!! I’m so excited about it 😬😬😬
i'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this to you yet, but in case they haven't: drops brushed alpaca silk is knitted up as an aran weight yarn, whereas drops kid silk mohair (and most mohairs i've seen) is knitted up as lace weight. if you're holding a fingering weight yarn together with an aran weight, you're going to get a bulky weight gauge rather than the DK weight required for the augustins pattern!
Yes! If you check out some of my recent podcasts, I have been discussing the ways in which I am adapting the pattern to suit my gauge. Thank you!!
Hi Nora! Such great plans! I love the bag pattern, I'm a sucker for a great bag so I purchased it and hope to make it. I can't wait to see how yours turns out. I've been thinking about my 2024 knitting plans. One thing I hope to do is spin anough yarn to make a sweater! I use a drop spindle, so it does take time, but I purchased 2 fleece and plan to wash and spin them for the sweater. One is corridale and BFL, it is a beautiful chocolate color, and the other is cotswold a beautiful creamy white. We shall see how it goes! Thank you for your great videos, I just love visiting with you 😊
Thank you! I cannot wait to get that bag on my needles! It is my reward for finishing my time-sensitive wips 😅 I love the idea of bringing a fiber across every stage of a project! Even if it takes three whole year, it will be well worth it!
@@akaNoraKnits thank you for the encouragement! I can't wait to see how your wips come out. 😍
Love all the winter knitting plans! ❤ I would use the pink yarn for the bag mostly because the nylon in it will add a bit more strength to it so it will hopefully last longer. I am also knitting a sweater dress and I'm trying to finish it by Christmas. 🤞🤞 Also, the Eun Sweater is on my to knit list as well 🎉🎉
Great thinking! I’d love to know what dress you’ve got on the needles! Love that we’re on the same page!
@@akaNoraKnits I'm knitting the Meridienne sweater dress! I grabbed the pattern with the discount code you provided on Instagram awhile back. 😄
Totally understand you saving the yarn… but it wants to become something 😊 the valentine yarn is beautiful! If I would be making something out of it I’d be knitting a scarf (the do not disturb is a one skein project) I think you would get more wear out of that. Your dress, 😮 can’t wait to see that finished. And what a great yarn treasurers you found in the thrift shop , so jealous!
It does want to be something!! Definitely worth considering a scarf!! Thanks for the recommendation! 🥰
I love your ambitious plans! Mine are pretty ambitious, too. I'm hoping to finish 3 sweaters this winter, which is a bit of a stretch for me. #snailstitches I may have to add the Eun sweater to my goals.
#snailstitches !!! You got this!
For a zipper sweater I really like Petiteknit zipper sweater man, there’s a bulky weight one and a light weight (dk I think).
Love pink for the bag and you should definitely match it with the hand dyed pink for a Musselburgh hat! 😍 and yes my first thought for the long cardigan was Noro sock omg that would be so pretty and so expensive but hey you deserve a LUXURIOUS cardigan!! That’s like a once in a lifetime knit!
I’ve heard great things about that zip-up! I’ll have to look into it! I think you’re right with my pinks! And really do feel like I save soooo much with my yarn purchases that I can justify a luxury knit once in a while! We shall see!
I’m going to tackle the Grayling cardi myself this December…in black…pray for me!❤
You are brave! Neck lights are your friend! I’m sure you’ll love it! 💛
My first sweater was also in black - lol I DID pick up a neck light from Amazon-REALLY HANDY!!😂
I made the Grayling cardigan! You scrolled by it!!! I love the pattern and it is an easy knit. Both the grayling and the folklore will fly off your needles. Awesome picks Nora!!
Ooh yayyy! I love to hear that!
I'd love a shacket pattern round-up ❤ all such exciting plans for your winter - I'm looking forward to seeing your Christmas dress in particular!
With the bag project, i really don't think thats a waste of nice yarn - if you'd get more use out of a bag than a hat, making a hat would be the waste! Besides, you can wear a bag in all seasons 😊 so make it in the yarn your heart desires!!
yay! so am I 😅 thank you for the green light! So funny how we can overthink these things!
Enjoyed the video and loved the different idea options you gave. As for your accessory bag it is interesting because for ME i am all about the fuchsia (I already have a leather purse in this color and love it) I would say for you to go with the Ossie brown for a couple reasons ... one it reminds you of your pup that you love, so you made a connection with the color. Two ... that color can go with more outfit options making it more versatile for you. As far as yarn guilt goes .... you should only feel guilty if you DON'T use the yarn, and its just collecting dust in a shady dark corner in your closet (IMO I'm sure some would argue different) As for my winter knit plans i only have one ... i am looking to making a second pressed flowers cowl in a sparkle red and a sparkle white color.
You are so right! I think I need more than one, but I love the idea of my Osi color and then the pop of pink! That sounds festive and lovely!
I’m loving all your winter knitting plans. The Miles Shirt Jacket is in my winter plans, too but you’re right about the collar…I think I’d prefer a normal shirt collar. Also one of my planned winter knit is the zipper pullover light by Petite Knit. It’s a quarter zip like you’re thinking for your dad. I think they have a mens version also. Or the Lanark sweater by Rebecca Clow looks beautiful!
Yes I have to look into those! Great options!
Make a swatch with your hand dyed yarn and the mohair and look at the fabric it creates to decide whether you like it. It could be beautiful.
That is my advice too. Swatch each of them and see which you like
In terms of shackets, I would recommend looking at the dawm to dusk shacket by Tiffany Thai (it has a collar). It's on my list of eventually knits... Along with the Miles shirt jacket 😅
Yesss it is on the list!!
I'm knitting the Eun and loving it! Definitely recommend :) Also i love your pod so much!
Ahhh so good to know! Thank you!!!! 🥰
Nora, loved your video!! Just wanted to warn you that generally, chenille-type yarns tend to be really delicate and they split easily, I'm not sure I would use it alone to make straps, maybe use a cotton black yarn to give it a bit of strength
Ahhhh so smart! I’ll see how it knits up but it might not be the best option. Thank you!
Nora - what about a Sophie scarf for your “valentine” yarn? You could pair it with the mohair or not - and you’d have a sweet little accessory with a pop of color - without being a brightly colored hat??
I actually have a stash yarn that I think would be perfect for that pattern! The trouble is that I'm not so sure I'd wear it
Love the sweater pattern and idea of a sweater for your dad!
On the hat, of the yarn choices you have, I wanted to mention the Fabel yarn is a self striping pattern yarn. I’m not sure you were aware of that and that might be even bolder on your head than the pink variegated yarn.
Yes! I would definitely proceed with caution 😅
I have several gift knits I need to start on now that I’ve finally finished the embrace octopus sweater. I always end up a bit behind.
I think the brown for the bag would be lovely.
Gift knitting is so generous! I hope your recipients love what you’ve made 💛
I can totally relate on the self-pressured purchases of things you would never spend that much on otherwise! I was traveling home from a work trip in Atlanta and I was so sick (recovering from food poisoning and withdrawal from my anxiety meds because of said food poisoning the night before). When I got off the plane I saw a text from my husband (who was picking me up) that he was stuck in traffic and it was going to be a bit longer. I just wanted to go home, I was getting hungry, I was thirsty and I was cranky. So I went to gift shop for a water, dramamine, and a little snacky. I saw some toffee, and I was like yes, candy will fix this. Got all wrung up and was about to pay when I saw my total was like $60. I was expecting $15, maybe $20. And then I saw that the toffee was like $50. But I was in too deep and felt too embarrassed to be like "you know what, never mind on the toffee." So that's how I ended up with the most expensive tin of candy I've ever seen.
Hahahahahhaa I have been here so many times! I hope it was delicious 😂
😊❤ you pick such a great variety of patterns! I’m cheering you on and can’t wait to see your FOs! I used to be so ambitious, trying hard to knit all the things and, now my knitting is much more slow-going so I just get way less things made throughout the year.
Thank you so much!!! I think that's okay too! I feel like that's part of what I enjoy about watching knitting podcasts. I feel like I get to knit vicariously through other people and then spend my valuable knitting time on projects that really excite me!
I have bought the yarn to make the folklore cardigan for my daughter a few months ago, she is a major Swifty.
Ooh fun!!!
Hi! Another idea for variegated yarn is to use it as a contrast color in a color work project. I, too, wouldn't use variegated yarn in a hat or a garment alone but I love the look it gives a color work project.
Also, I learned a new English word today. "Shacket"! So thank you! I love learning new words. (I'm French... and by the way, your French pronunciation is great)
Such a good idea! Thank you so much! I shall feel less silly about it next time! 💛
Lovely pink/red yarns! I love them
Ohhh nice! The Musselburgh hat is awesome for a mindless knit. I’ve so far knit nine and soon to cast on number ten lol
Hello from spain so glad to have found your channel. I'm looking forward to seeing how your christmas Augusten 25 dress looks like I hope you can knit it time for Christmas. I think either of the boucle yarn option for the bag work. Also anyone of the two mohair options for the mulburr hat with Valentine yarn work too.
Thank you for introducing me to Tricot Espace designer I added the warm up sweater and the Sunday morrning wrap to my favourites.
Hello Spain!!!! I was supposed to visit Barcelona back in March of 2020 when the whole world shut down, and haven’t been able to arrange the trip since. Such a dream! Thank you for joining me 🥰 I’m so glad you found something new here!!
Great video as always. Thanks for sharing. I wanted to tell you that I've knit a few hats w/ alpaca yarn and unfortunately they get stretched out quickly. I've learned to not use alpaca for projects that i want to keep structure. Since yours is a mix w/ Merino, maybe it would be ok. i also stopped using superwash for hats (same reason), they get too drapey. Have a lovely holiday and as always thank you for your great videos.
Soo good to know! I wonder if it would even be worth it to try with a ribbed hat instead to try and counteract some of that stretching 🤔 thank you!!!
I would absolutely make the miles and for your collar, utilize short rows for a rolled over collar
Smart smart smart!
SO glad I found your channel, you are so fun and gorgeous!
Aw thank you soo much 🥰 omg with the bow?! Her patterns are just so beautiful!!!
@@akaNoraKnits yes, exactly! (Got some marzipan coloured fingering and some old rose/mauvy (?!😅) Mohair, it'll Look stunning with a Black velvet Band 😏
Loved seeing your knitting plans. It's so inspiring! I'm already planning to knit 2 Musselburghs this winter, so I'd love to knit those along with you! 😊
Thank you! There ya go, a very informal knit along!
I'm knitting the Folklore Cardigan for my daughter. I have finished the back and both side panels and it's been a few weeks. I'm a little nervous about the seaming though!
I’m so reckless when it comes to seaming 😂 it’ll be on the inside so you’re the only one who would ever know if it was off!
I cannot wait to see this dress!! You can do it ❤
For your dad, consider the Focused On Lines cardigan. Very classy cardigan
For Carron cakes Take a peak at Hokkaido a free pattern on Rav. Basic sweater with some nice shoulder touches and a high neck. Made it into a dress with baloon sleeves with extra long ribbing on sleeves and did a split hem. I never want to take it off.
Ooooh thanks for the recommendation!
Once again, you’re a joy to watch! Please put your dad’s sweater at the front of the line. ( I lost my dad and step dad in 2021, right when I was learning to knit, so never got the chance). Also I vote for the pink and black for your purse!👛
I am so sorry to hear that. My dad is a cancer survivor and the most knit-worthy person in the world. If I can’t get his sweater done by his birthday, it will most definitely be done for father’s day. 💛
