My husband noticed me your video was playing and immediately asked “How is the Christmas Dress going???” He is sooooo invested! Good luck and I hope the dress is everything you want it to be.
Just an idea, possibly stitching a ribbon or an icord to the back of the sleeves so you could tie them across your upper back and tie in a lovely Christmassy bow might help the falling off your shoulder issue?
Totally thought the same thing! Unfortunately, I think it will all be a game of time! But I also tried the dress on and the open upper back is honesty such a nice relief with all of the red fabric so I’m avoiding having to fill it in! But I am not opposed for comfort!!
Osi is soooo adorable!! Watching your podcast about your dress has been like reading a good book, I just can't wait for the next chapter and to see how it finishes!! 😀👗
An idea for keeping the dress on: tacking some ribbon onto each sleeve on the back and tying them in a little bow on your back. I have a (store bought) v-back sweater that comes made with a little tie like this and I can adjust how I want the shoulders fit.
I can't believe how you've created this cliff hanger podcast. I'm so anxious to see the outcome. Have the merriest Christmas and thank you for all your entertainment and inspiration!
Amazing amount if knitting and all the extra time and care in sharing your profress and asking for our thoughts, plus the video fun editing and joyfullness!
Maybe a double folded hem around the top of the dress, connected to the sleeves, then elastic goes around the sleeves and the front and back like a peasant blouse, would be more secure? Also look at the 3 needle bind off from Nimble Needles. He makes it really quick.😊
Good luck on the Christmas dress! It looks stellar and remember you can always wear it as a lovely New Year's Dress or Valentine's dress. Also, even if you finish it in time, you can still wear it for those holidays. 😊😊
Rooting for you and your Christmas dress Nora! Also I crack up every time you insert Ysolda Teague pronouncing the Musselburgh. A merry Christmas to you and your family. Here's to more knitting time over the holidays
Hubs and I are so invested in your Christmas Dress! I’m incredibly impressed with all the progress you’ve made, you’re so close to the finish line!!! Hope you’re able to finish and enjoy a relaxing holiday!
It is so funny you commented right now! I am just finishing watching your 2023 All Things Knit! You are truly an inspiration! I have been knitting over 40 years and am just now this year going to attempt three sweaters for my sons! Like you said . . .it’s all just knits and purls!
It is so funny you commented right now! I am just finishing watching your 2023 All Things Knit! You are truly an inspiration! I have been knitting over 40 years and am just now this year going to attempt three sweaters for my sons! Like you said . . .it’s all just knits and purls!
Merry Christmas Nora! You will be the star of Christmas in that beautiful dress. Cannot wait to see it. I think I am more worried about your dress than I am anything going on in my life! Thanks for a great entertaining podcast every time!
Merry Christmas Nora!!! I can't wait to see pictures of you in that stunning dress! Your ability to knit, SO MUCH, in such a short amount of time is mind boggling.
Hi!! Me here try to give you more tips every week I hope it's not too late. The pico edge was not too hard and I believe I did not do a tree needles bing off as I don't love all the fuss with so many needles. It is basically a fold over hem in the end so do whatever fold over hem you prefer. I typically put a thin yarn through the hole used to tighten the needle tip this is however done ahead of time knit how ever much it's says to do and then do the purl bump or in this case the pico edge and then knit how ever much to knit and then used the thin yarn as a guide to pick up the right purl bump and bind off. Hope that helps and you dress is turning out amazing!! You are going to look amazing on Christmas 🎉
You are brilliant!!!! Thank you so so much!!!! I am definitely thinking of simplifying things. I had no idea how easy the picot edge was! Seriously way more simple than I thought it would be. Just surprisingly so so so much knitting for my size 😅 I so appreciate your guidance!!!! Thank you!!!
Yay!! You got this! I’m thankfully done with gift knits so I’m just working on something for me until after the holidays when I’ve got other things to start.
I am so impressed by how much you’ve done on your dress, there’s no doubt you will be finished for Christmas, what an achievement. Congratulations and Merry Christmas 🎄🤶💐
Love the yarn in your hat! Congratulations on getting your yarn during the holidays for Christmas dress!!! I ordered yarn to make three Musselburgh's as gifts for my sisters. I knew I wouldn't have the hats finished before Christmas, but was hoping to have yarn for knitting during holidays. But dang, yarn didn't make it. Will have to find something else fun to do.
Further keep it on thought: you could make a bit of icord and attach it to the backs of each sleeve and have a little mid back tie if they really were trying to fall off all the time 🤷
I'm currently blocking a sweater with a split hem and am using a water bottle to spray it after I pin it to the shape (boxy) I want. I have time to do each side separately and the side I've done looks great and is holding its new shape. Spraying it with water instead of immersing in water is working well.
It's probably too late for this Christmas, but I'm only catching you today, Christmas Day. For your dilemma about keeping the sleeves up, what about if you were to add a ribbon at the upper back/top of the sleeves, so the ribbon goes across your back? Or even tie a ribbon back there. Or you could let it all go and have the sleeves hang down your arms! I also thought about the height of the bodice, the part around the bust. Remember that as you stretch knit fabrics sideways, the length will shrink. Same goes for the other way as well. I learned this when trying to block the sh*t out of a too small sweater. 😂 Merry Christmas, I hope you got to wear thar beautiful dress!
The dress is gorgeous. Your knitting is so beautiful. I was thinking that the weight will pull it down so you may need to go all the way down. And thank you for the information on Lindeyarn. I had never heard of her and have been ordering my Drops from Poland, Ukraine etc. so it takes at least 3 weeks to come. I got some yarn for Christmas and needed to order some brushed alpaca silk to go with it, and then ordered another yarn as well for a vest and it’ll be the middle of January before I get it. So from now on I’m ordering from Linde. The prices are very similar and I’ll be shipping is cheaper.😊 Merry Christmas Nora. You will be the Belle of the ball!❤ 🎄
Thank you so so much!! I’ve had great success with them twice now and really speedy delivery! I try and wait for a bulk order so I can earn free shipping, but special times call for special measures. I hope your brushed alpaca buddies arrive soon!! Thank you for being here!! 🥰
Merry Chrsitmas Nora! If you decide not to wet block it, yuou may still want to steam block the skirt before adding the bottom hem in case you need to adjust the total length...because its a long dress, the weight of the dress may be pulled down even you use the steam block. just a thought. :)
Merry Christmas to you and your family! I love your podcast so much - your knitting is always so beautiful and your Christmas dress is going to be stunning on you! good luck with finishing it. I'm trying to make a second fingerless mitten with a broken thumb...it's slow going but I'm trying! Christmas hugs from Texas!!
Hi Nora! Your dress is coming along beautifully!!! FYI an icord tie in the back of the dress may also be helpful with the fit too. Thought I would share my thoughts in case you end up needing a last minute “fix”
merry Christmas to you as well. doing some baking while watching you! sorry you don't like to bake...tbh if rather be knitting too. can't wait to see the dress. 🎄🙂
When you mentioned the yarn for your dress as an excellent gauge for bulky yarn I want to know how many stitches in your gauge because I want this yarn for my husband zipper sweater. I think you would make it for your dress for Christmas night. Happy holidays This podcast was fun to watch.❤
You are soooo close and can see the finish line to finishing your dress for Christmas🎄!!! I do think that you hanging it so that the alpaca can get it's stretch on and out of it's system is an excellent idea!!! I do have a piece of advice (and your not going to like it or want to stray from attempting to finish your dress) but .... maybe you should do a small swatch of JUST the pecot edging / bind off .... that way you can see if you like it and if it's worth all the extra fuss over..... better to find out on a small swatch then over 1/3 of your stitches and then your left with the debate of "do i tink 🐸back and put the stitches BACK on the needles"? or "do I continue on something I am not happy with" or "Is this worth the fuss?"
Your dress already looks stunning! What I would do to stretch the bodice is firstly unpick the seam on the inside. Secondly wet block the bodice and lightly steam block the skirt. Thirdly hang the dress from the bodice edge that you have unpicked with half a dozen or more clothes pegs. The weight of the dress will pull the bodice down and when you restitch it it will be slightly longer. Even if it’s too long you can correct that on the inside seam and you won’t see the clothes pegs marks either. If you have time you could unpick the inside seam and add on a few rows that won’t be seen.
I have always wondered: have you crocheted all of the little figures you use for graphics yourself, or are they computer-generated?! Also, I love Wool Warehouse for Drops-shipping is only $5 US and they have sales all the time (though it does take a little longer to get here)
Could you stitch a strapless bra into the bust portion? To help contain the potential stretch width wise? Love your spanx idea. Want to know how that works. I thought about doing that but I really think that it will be more structurally sound if it is anchored to my body. Honestly, that’s why I love the spanx bodysuit thing! I have always been so comfortable in it as it creates a really secure base for anything on top! I’m hoping that between the elastic and the sleeves and a few points of contact (maybe even in the waist line) will be enough! Wish me luck lol…thank you!!! 💛
My husband noticed me your video was playing and immediately asked “How is the Christmas Dress going???” He is sooooo invested! Good luck and I hope the dress is everything you want it to be.
Hahahaa this brings me such joy! Too funny, thank you for sharing! Thank you!!!
Will I giggle every single time the audio cuts in to say "musselburgh?" Yes.
Just an idea, possibly stitching a ribbon or an icord to the back of the sleeves so you could tie them across your upper back and tie in a lovely Christmassy bow might help the falling off your shoulder issue?

Aww what a compliment, thank you!! 🥰
This dress is such A Saga :DDDD

I prefer wool warehouse for all my drops yarn. They constantly have sales too!
Merry Christmas Nora
I can’t wait to see you wearing the Christmas dress. That was quite an encounter. You are very adventurous.
Me and my mom are very invested in your wedding dress. You can do it Nora!!!
Hi Nora! I had no idea that you are Finnish! So cool 😎 I’m a born and raised Finn living and knitting in Toronto
Yes, I think inserting some elastic in the folded edge of the sleeve should help it stay in place!
I forgot to say that I love your poem! So awesome - just another "feel good" holiday goodie to enjoy and treasure!
Wow! That dress is really coming along. You will get it finished by Christmas. I know it. You seem very organized.
i’ll be watching your insta, holding my breath that u get it done. oh and Otsi, is divine.
I use a heated plant mat to block things if you can get ahold of one of those to dry it quickly
You could consider hand stitching a piece of bias ribbon on the shoulders. You’ll often see this on machine knits.
Maybe a double folded hem around the top of the dress, connected to the sleeves, then elastic goes around the sleeves and the front and back like a peasant blouse, would be more secure?
Also look at the 3 needle bind off from Nimble Needles. He makes it really quick.😊
Such great advice!!! Thank you so much!!!
Wow! The dress looks amazing and I'm so impressed. Remember to enjoy your Christmas 🎄Merry Christmas!!! Happy knitting 💚🧶💚 Be kind to yourself 😊
Good luck on the Christmas dress! It looks stellar and remember you can always wear it as a lovely New Year's Dress or Valentine's dress. Also, even if you finish it in time, you can still wear it for those holidays. 😊😊
I can't wait to see your gorgeous dress

Hubs and I are so invested in your Christmas Dress! I’m incredibly impressed with all the progress you’ve made, you’re so close to the finish line!!! Hope you’re able to finish and enjoy a relaxing holiday!
Nora, every time you say Fabel I think of Tink 🧚♂️🧚♀️🧚
I can get on board with that! 🧚🏻♀️
Have a Merry Christmas- good luck with your pajamas- and for goodness sakes- relax - you are making me nervous watching you!!!!!!🧑🏻🎄🌲
Hahahaa I have dedicated Christmas Eve and Christmas to just turning off and relaxing! Merry Christmas!!!!
To combat the stretch of the fabric on the skirt and sleeves, you could sew in a bit of elastic that will give it more stability.
Happy Saturday to me! All work done and nothing to do but relax and knit and watching my favorite podcast!

Your podcasts always fill me with joy. You are a natural ❤
Jazzed for your dress and pjs! You're the ambitious one!!!
Wool warehouse! it gets to me in just a few days and I live in NY
Merry Christmas!!!
I would put elastic in under the bust. It will sinch in the top part and help take some of the weight off the sleeves.
Merry, merry Christmas, Nora. You're going to look so festive in your gorgeous dress.
Merry Christmas!!!! Thank you 🥰
Merry Christmas Nora!!! I can't wait to see pictures of you in that stunning dress! Your ability to knit, SO MUCH, in such a short amount of time is mind boggling.

Further keep it on thought: you could make a bit of icord and attach it to the backs of each sleeve and have a little mid back tie if they really were trying to fall off all the time 🤷
Yes!! If it seems like it will be an issue I think that’d be a great solution!
Keeping everything crossed that your dress gets done in time! Your dogo is so adorable 😍😍
I'm currently blocking a sweater with a split hem and am using a water bottle to spray it after I pin it to the shape (boxy) I want. I like Wool Warehouse for Drops yarn. And shipping is approximately a week.

Thank you so much!!! I really love putting them together 🥰
Good luck Nora!! You got this!!
Thank you!!!! 💃🏼
Merry Christmas Nora! Can't wait to see your finished dress... whenever that may be ❤️
Thank you!! 🥰

You inspired a trip to my local Goodwill with your thrift yarn video…. And I scored! Will have to make it a regular habit. Merry Christmas!
Awww yayyy!!! That makes me so happy!!! Merry Christmas to you!
Hi osi and nora just wanted to say the dress is amazing ❤
Just steam the top more aggressively. When I want focused stretch, I’ll pin and steam in place to the desired size.
Good luck finishing the dress and merry christmas!!
The dress looks lovely. Your little poem is very fun. Merry Christmas! :)
Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful dress WIP! 🤩🎄
Merry Christmas to you and your family! I love your podcast so much - your knitting is always so beautiful and your Christmas dress is going to be stunning on you! good luck with finishing it. Merry Christmas to you and your family! I can’t wait to see your completed dress. It’s looking gorgeous already! ❤️
Thank you so much!! 🥰
Merry Christmas and your dress is looking beautiful.
Merry Christmas! Thank you!!! 🥰
Ohhhhhh man your sooooo close!!!!! Good job 👏 🎉
So so close!!! Thank you!!
Merry Christmas! The dress is beautiful.
Merry Christmas! Thank you!!! 🥰

I appreciate it!!! Thank you!!
This is what I was thinking, just across the back up high on the sleeves.
merry Christmas to you as well. doing some baking while watching you! sorry you don't like to bake...tbh if rather be knitting too. can't wait to see the dress. 🎄🙂
I certainly hope that your baking is less stressful than mine was! Lol. Thank you!!! 🥰
When you mentioned the yarn for your dress as an excellent gauge for bulky yarn I want to know how many stitches in your gauge because I want this yarn for my husband zipper sweater.
I think you would make it for your dress for Christmas night. Happy holidays This podcast was fun to watch.❤
Sorry this took me so long to get back to you on! I got about 16.5 st/in in the sleeves and it that seems just right!!
Merry Christmas, your dress is looking amazing 😊❤
Merry Christmas!! Thank you!!
Wool warehouse is worth price checking for Drops. They often run good sales on Drops. They too ship here to US.
So good to know!! Thank you!!
I have ordered drops and I always choose wool warehouse.
Great to know! Thank you!!
My husband’s family is Finnish, and his mother always made Nissua at Christmastime. Have you heard of it?
I haven't!! I'll have to look that one up!! Thank you!
You are soooo close and can see the finish line to finishing your dress for Christmas🎄!!! I have always wondered: have you crocheted all of the little figures you use for graphics yourself, or are they computer-generated?! Also, I love Wool Warehouse for Drops-shipping is only $5 US and they have sales all the time (though it does take a little longer to get here)
They’re all done on the computer! Thank you for the suggestion!
@@akaNoraKnits amazing!!! They are all adorable ☺️
You might have answered this already but what kind of dog is Osi? I assume some kind of poodle mix?
She is a cockapoo!
Could you do an icord across the back from shoulder to shoulder?
If need be, certainly!!!
Hello! I couln't have never guessed that you were Finnish. You seem so outgoing and energetic. Can you speak Finnish? Terveisiä Suomesta...
Thank you so much!!! I don't speak it at all. but I'd love to learn a few words at least! Thank you!!
Keep going and wear it anyway even if the hem has a barber cord.
Pop it on a little matching yarn and I am certain no one would ever know! 🤫😉
Could you stitch a strapless bra into the bust portion? To help contain the potential stretch width wise? Love your spanx idea. Want to know how that works. Balancing the weight of the dress (for us gals with real curves 😂), I could see being a challenge when wearing for a day or evening. Building in some structure, I could see being helpful. Would appreciate your thoughts after wearing it. Such a feat! Your dress is stunning. 😍 will accent you just beautifully.
