I have a little natural turquoise mountain, it's a darker green but I can see the host rock from this video. I'd like to know now many pounds of good cabbing blues and greens was extracted from here. It trips me out how much some mines yielded as too how little some did. I always wonder if theres any more valuable than lander blue pocket or mini/micro pocket mines that havnt been discovered? My first supplier of turq told me probably zero the gold rush had made almost all areas everywhere pretty well checked?? Idk if I believe that but what do I know.

I used to live in Las Cruces and a patient of mine told me about turquoise mines he frequented-to this day I have huge regrets not taking him up on an offer to hike one to hunt for stones. Are there any active the public can access?
Question, is there a way to cut away the varied stones like the Italians do, with the huge lateral cuts that build out deeper digs? *in my head, thinking the marble sites If you brought a simple plastic water spray bottle and sprayed some of that stone...I bet it would be incredible. Your regret reminds me of one I had. When I was in college one of my roommates father's was in charge of the cattle on the Tejon Ranch in California. I regret not taking him up on a private jeep ride in the back country. It's so private few get to go on the land and those who do pay thousands and are escorted. You can look the ranch up online.

Usually found along with copper, gold or silver. Originally found by seeing an out crop of a quartz vein with green or blue streaks or patches in the quartz. The out crop can be on the ground or on the side of a hill or mountain. They can be as small as an inch or less in width and length or several feet wide and hundreds of feet long. There might be chunks of quartz called float that rolls down hill from the vein as it erodes over time that can help you locate the vein. Veins that haven't yet out cropped can be found by digging in areas where two different rock types call a contact zone meet. This is where fissures may have been formed and then filled with quartz to create a vein or mineral deposit. Other fissures can be formed by earthquakes or volcanic activity and then filled with quartz over time.
Yea, they were mined for a long time. In my other video about ancient mine, they dug that a out about 1985 I believe. they found ancient hammer stones. I have links to the history of the mines. This particular mine isn't very deep but the colors inside are amazing.

I'm not sure. but if it's only a piece or 2, I wouldn't think its problem. if it's on claim then there could be issues. Honestly, I couldn't say if its allowed legally. maybe someone else reading the comments might know.
@@RoysAdventures1most turquoise is stabilized to protect it, as I understand. You can buy unstabilized, but it's not as common and very sensitive to bumps, bruises and chemicals like hand lotions, right?
i'm not one to find fault with what other people do, but consider the fact that when you desert drive on non roads, the tracks you leave behind stay there for years and years. In the deep desert, everything is water starved, and it just takes forever for landscape and flora to repair your tire tracks. Consider this: leave behind no trace, so the next person that comes along can have your same sense of being in a remote place where very few other people have traveled to. Great photography, and a high mineralization in the rocks there (red for iron, yellow for sulfur). Probably an interesting place for gold and silver. But, because of the turquoise (meaning high regional copper content), the quality of the gold and silver would be poor (high in copper sulfide--which makes it difficult to separate all). Thanks!
@callmebe, It is a desert road leading up to the mine. The individual who has the claim still mines for Turquoise there and yes he knows I was there just to explore and not take anything. Besides I wouldnt know what i'm looking at anyway. Rest assured I only travel on desert roads and trails. I'm surprised you couldnt see that in the video. @@RoysAdventures1 No, there are some spots where you can't tell there is a road, (for instance, what looks like driving straight up some mine's tailings). But in any case, great! Years ago I also ran a mine (gold and silver), and people would drive their 4 wheelers all over everything--geeze I would get so frustrated at that. Well, have a good time, and thanks for communicating your intentions to the owner beforehand. Yes, I use to give tours also. I will be happy to watch more of your stuff!

Not all dealers in turquoise are dishonest, do some research. Most turquoise on the market isn't fake, I think that's an unfair assumption.
