Unless you have some information about provenance the best anyone can do is make an educated guess. The turquoise groups on FaceBook is a place to start.

No. GIA certified appraisers are generally not well informed about turquoise. Appraisal is difficult since there is no accepted grading system for turquoise.

lighter blue to almost white dry creek has become very valuable

Dry Creek is a marketing name for lower grade turquoise mined from the Godber Burnham claims. It takes its name from Dry Creek that runs through the Damele Ranch. It is indeed pale blue to almost white and is favored by some. Another popular stone is White Buffalo which is opalized calcite.

No. I purchased from a reputable dealer and it broke upon removing the price tag. And also looked very fake to me.
