    quick question, im looking at lowering the existing clip ons for my triumph sprint st 1050 now ive never done anything like this before so is there anything to worry about in terms of making it work? i only wanna lower the riding position for a more sportier feel.

    • @johnnycactus0
      @johnnycactus0  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi there!- when you say lowering the existing clip ons- do you mean using the stock clip ons or changing to some different ones entirely? - i'm not sure if the stock ones can be lowered looking at the shape- (sometimes you can mount them underneath the yoke) but switching to a lower set should be straight forward. all stock cables etc should be fine to use as it's not too dramatic a change- just factor in how much clearance you have lock to lock from the fairing and check nothing fouls.

      @johnnycactus0  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Jamie VanDalen hey mate, well for me especially on the bonnie- it's always wheel off mudguard off- slide the forks out- it's a good excuse to have the caliper hanging and clean up/check whilst it's all apart. hope that helps dude!

    Hi
    Thanks for the video.
    If I can ask.
    I need to change the top yoke of my bonneville.
    Is it easy to do?
    I’m not changing it, just replacing with the same but new.
    Thanks:)

    • @johnnycactus0
      @johnnycactus0  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes very easy! Take your time. Essentially the removal of the yoke is just 1 top nut and 2 pinch bolts. Just remember to cover up or remove the tank- very easy to scratch or ding. Getting your handlebars out of the way- either remove or hang them up if you can. Slacken the riser bolts with yoke in situ..The yoke may be tight on there and need some gentle wiggling or tapping to free up. Torque wrench too! Hope that helps!

    • @johnnycactus0
      @johnnycactus0  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheGiannia it's not difficult just take your time and get a haynes manual to follow. Remember to tighten everything to correct torque.

    • @johnnycactus0
      @johnnycactus0  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheGiannia you should be able to unbolt the handlebars and move them out of the way without removing and cables etc. If I remember correctly the top nut is 90nm and the fork leg pinch bolts are 27nm. If you are quite new to this I strongly recommend getting a haynes or official triumph manual. they outline the procedures and torque settings.

    • @johnnycactus0
      @johnnycactus0  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Vanrocco66 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      johnnycactus0 How about the rear sets, were they uncomfortable on a longer ride?

    • @johnnycactus0
      @johnnycactus0  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      not too bad, your legs are crouched up higher but its not super extreme. after a few hours a stretch is nice but i wouldn't say its any more uncomfortable than say my triumph speed four or triumph daytona 900. i was kinda used to that riding position though- so flat bars and stock bonnie footrests were a bit of a new experience for me!!! i would say stock footrests and flat bars are the most comfortable but the clip ons and rearsets aren't insanely uncomfortable either...damn i like both equally hence the reason i cant seem to make up my mind!!! i guess rearsets and clip ons are an expensive 'gamble' though....-sorry bud, has that been any use to you!!???
