Of course this Thruxton is an amazing performer for a retro bike. Quite hard to beat with those kind of premium components. But compared to actual sports bikes it basically only shares the uncomfortable seating position. So why is it still such a joy to ride this thing? Can beauty beat pain? :D

Thanks Schaaf for this video. I fully share your comments. I have recently been with my Thruxton RS in Almería, Spain, where I have traveled more than 3000 km of roads that did not know the straight line. It has been 15 days of absolute happiness. Its engine pushes as far as you are capable. Going strong, this motorcycle brakes in twenty meters with surprising definition and safety, the suspensions are hard and precise, you can throw your motorcycle to the cross of the curve and it goes out alone with all the gas you can give it. And the tires ... are gum. You can lean your motorcycle to the edge of the wheel tread without fear or doubt. And honestly, with my 1.80 m. high and my new long gel seat, my body does not protest after days of up to 350 km. Yes, definitely, this bike makes me very happy.

I haven't ridden the Thruxton. But I do have a speed twin. And I agree. It all just works so well together despite not being the fastest, out the quickest in corners. It's just a blast to ride.

Love this video, I just got one a few weeks back but the weather is horrible now so I will have to watch this on repeat instead. It was a close run decision between an rninet and the RS, the deciding factor was the engine of the RS particularly as I already have a GS, its intoxicating and very different from the boxer. Great video Schaaf👍
I have a street tripple and think I want one of these , that sounds amazing for a stock machine. You were pushing her pretty good in the corners. I need to try one.
What I'd give for these dry, empty roads and blue skies right now.......instead of temperatures just above zero, constant rain etc. and two more months before things improve 😫. Nice Vid and reminder of better times 👌
Haven't ridden an RS, but I've ridden a few R's and I've never liked a motorcycle more quickly than it. The first shift into 2nd gear, I thought, oh I'll give it some and see what it's got. It lifted and stayed lifted, yet planted for a solid 100 feet. By the time the front tire hit the road again, I wanted it for my own.
If you’re not going to the track, the Thruxton RS is all you need for the street. You already have the hi-comp pistons, with some re-valving, “Busa” springs and new cam, with the right tuner, she will spin to over 9,500 rpm and 130HP at the rear wheel.
