A good song can withstand differing vibes, and HF knows how to make something their own while respecting the original at the same time. I believe Johnny, himself, would enjoy this. I love your genuine reactions and comments! Please keep going, especially with HF!
My baby boy took me to see a Highwaymen concert (Johnny, Waylon, Willie and Kris) back around 1990. Huge thrill. My son was a veteran of concert behavior, and ...by the end of the show....he had us right up front..not far from where June Carter was. Great show....great memory.
The guys did a great job of this Johnny Cash cover. Made it into a jazzy blues style. And they all look like some sort of criminals especially Tim & Adam. Remember this was done during quarantine so none of them were physically together. They were very creative during that time. Love the background train noises. Adam's beatboxing is crazy good & so is Tim's low notes.
You must go if possible to one of their concerts! My Wife and I have seen them twice and they are just like what you see, down to Earth ! We got to a Meet and greet and they are the real deal ! We are hoping to go to another Concert this year! Hope you get to see them live ! God bless you, Jerry
Raining here too !! Thanks for playing our Home Free guys ... just what's needed to lift the spirits on a miserable day ! I think Johnny would have appreciated this version ... I know I do !
Thanks for another great reaction! Love when Tim dropped so low and watching your face was great. I recommend Garth Brooks "Ain't Going Down Till The Sun Comes Up" I think you will be impressed. Love your reactions!!!!
Hi Red! From windy Oklahoma! Tim: killed a man in Reno Chance: mafia hit man Austin: fleecing little old ladies Rob: was framed Adam: waiting to be transferred to the psych ward!
Tim: a mobster who wanted to know what it was like to kill someone Chance: Armed Robber Austin: Drug runner Rob: serial killer (when you see many of them, they look innocuous and innocent) Adam: Psych
Excellent reaction my neighbor with the red hair so glad you did this I suggested this along with other people was my 3rd song by them and I went crazy they are so talented later beautiful.❤️😎🇺🇸 🤣🤣🤣I think the same way on most of their songs just not long enough now,do Ring Of Fire with Ava from Pentatonix….ok now I am gone
Another great reaction. As for me you can rewind as much as you want to. Part of a reaction is seeing how you catch different things. Keep Home Free coming please.
The only thing I can think of that would help round out your experience of #homefree is to react to more live videos. A great one is their "9 to 5 beatboxing breakdown" but you really need to hear their original studio version of the song first.
Loved the reaction! I took a quick @ the Home Free videos that you have reacted to and theirs a couple request you should react to. Home Free-BUTTS MEDLEY Home Free-Take me home country roads (John Denver cover) peace
I agree it’s way too short! I love it there in the orange jumpsuits… Home free felons! Did you notice how they played with the height chart behind them?? This is such an interesting change up to the song!!
I love when Chance gets to sing lead like he does on this song, it doesn't happen enough. Plus, while I'm not at ALL a skilled singer, his range is where I can most comfortably sing along :)
You are exactly right about how Home Free manages to retain the integrity of the songs they cover while still making them their own. They are masters at doing this; it shows not only their talent but also their respect for the original artist. Great reaction as usual!
It's all good. It's the first time I've heard their version. I lived in Reno for several years and one of my favorite cousins lived only a couple of miles from Folsom. His buddies were some of the Hell's Angels. When younger, I ran around with a wild crowd but grew up before I got caught. Then I joined the U.S. Marines and ordered me to M.P. School and I worked as a ''brig pig' for 3 and a half years, hating every day, except for a few occasions where I made a difference in someone's life. One of the best videos you can ever watch is Bill Moyer's "Amazing Grace" where they interview Johnny Cash after his concert at Folsom Prison. He said "I've never done hard time in a prison but we all have prisons in our own minds, whether it be drugs, alcohol or whatever and this song can work miracles." Or something very close to that. When he wrote Folsom Prison, he felt he was a prisoner in the U.S. Army.
I love Austin's guitar sounds... He does the Banjo in "Try Everything.", guitar in a bunch of other songs. It's crazy. There is even a live video of him and Adam both doing the No-monica. The only one you can actually see him doing it, to my knowledge, is Kenny Roger's "Children, go where I send thee."
Love the spotlight on our Baritone and Bass with the exclamation point whistle by Austin (and love his tink, tink) and Rob bringing the soul.... Adam just being a malkavian all over. lol
Have been watching your reviews for a week or so and you bring a breath of fresh air with your comments! Keep up the great work and wish you all the best in your endeavor!
I have no problem with your rewinds. ☺️ There have been fans over the years (and some currently) that say they prefer Home Free’s cover over an original. Home Free would love for the fans to support the original artists, if possible, or at least show respect for them. Home Free is really great at keeping the integrity of the originals.
@@redheadedneighbor Humbly submitted for your consideration for any Willy Nelson reactions or if you react to to Home Free's original song "Remember My Name" (you'll see why 😉).
I know I mentioned Puddles before, he does a cover of Folsom Prison blues to the sound of Pinball Wizard...And Pinball Wizard to the sound of Folsom Prison Blues. And they work, lol
Good reaction! Not sure whether you have reacted to Home Free’s covering of Crosby, Stills and Nash - Helplessly Hoping, but would be another genre and they will blow you away with their harmony and precision. Thank you for your reactions. ❤
Have you checked out their version of Delta Dawn yet? I think you’d really love it! I respect the transparency. Personally, I love both versions for different reasons. Johnny’s being the original will always have a special place in my heart. They took it and Home Free’d it just right. Looking forward to more HF.
Their “cover me up” version is one of my favorites!!! Although I admit, it is really hard to choose a favorite! “Blue ain’t your color” is another good one. I love the way they pay homage to the original singers, yet elevate the songs into a creative experience that leaves you loving both versions for different reasons. From one readhead to another… keep reacting to home free and pentatonix! Both are awesome and so are you ❤
Just want ya to know --- rewinding doesn't bother me a bit!!! Encourage it actually! It's been over 8yrs for me and still not tired --- they guys just rock it! : ) Be Safe
I do like that way Tim has of stepping in towards the end of a song like "DADDY'S HOME". Although in "I Want Crazy" (different song from "Crazy"), when he punches through the mix at the end, I keep picturing the Kool-Aid Man). I'm pretty sure Chance has some "Tim notes" up his sleeve that he tends not to deploy, but I repeat, TIM IS THE LORD THY FOUST AND THOU SHALT HAVE NO OTHER TIMS BEFORE HIM. Speaking of the Kool-Aid Man, to see Tim actually say "Oh yeah!" I have to recommend the video for "9 to 5".
Johnny's what you grew up with so, so your gonna love what you know and nothing compares, however, I really love what Home Free did with this acapella, they added a beat, and a groove to it. they are very versatile, one thing I love about them. If you want more country sound check out "In The Blood", which was written by John Mayer, but they made it sound very country. check out "I Can't Outrun You" (Trace Adkins) Chance sings lead. "Delta Dawn", with Home Free & Brooke Eden. "Country Roads Take Me Home", (John Denver) and for some funny country check out Tim's original "Champagne Taste on a Beer Budget", and "Thank God I'm A Country Boy", (John Denver) or Mississippi Squirrel Revival (Ray Stevens).
This was one of the 'quarantine' videos, done individually in their homes. Their weird sense of humor shows in the heights they've given themselves (they're all around 6'; Rob's the tallest at 6'4'). With all respect to the late Johnny Cash, I actually like their rendition more! Given your preferences, if you haven't seen HFs video "Remember My Name" - I think you'd love it.
If you'd like to hear some more "older" country, check out their version of "Delta Dawn" featuring Brooke Eden. Great video...great song. I wasn't a huge fan of the original, but I love theirs. I really think you'll enjoy it too.
It’s one of my favorites. This was during Covid. Love it….kind of a jazzy rendition. Tim did the crime, Adam belongs in the insane asylum and the others were accomplices. Hahaha. The height charts are all wrong but the boys are tall all between 6’1” and 6’4”. No problem wanting it longer as I do too. Good one Red!!! Love it. 😍😃

Yeah, I am not surprised at how well this cover was from Home Free. I have yet to listen to a cover from these guys that I haven't liked. This group of guys are always killing it no matter what cover they do. Thanks as always for doing reactions to these acapella groups. In this case it's Home Free and I am so glad I ran into these guys here on TH-cam a while back. I just love what they do and I love the fact that they are just so genuine and wholesome. I'll never get tired of these guys and I don't think you will either. I do need to ask you something and I am not sure how else to do it, but here. I really enjoy your reactions. You are always upbeat and bring joy. Since you liked this video, consider Roy Clark's version. It really shows his talent and humor,
I know exactly why you are impressed with them a I am the same just a year or two more into them. You'll catch up as these guys keep you wanting to hear more. On their cover of iconic songs they never "Ruin" them and many time upgrade them. The biggest criticism is sometimes the song is too short. Leaves you wanting more. One cover and collaboration where the do a full version of the original song with the original artist is "American Pie" with Don McLean. Don not only did it with them he was the one to suggest they do the cover with him to celebrate the song's 50th year anniversary. A masterpiece cover or a masterpiece in my opinion.
Love this. My only complaint to Home Free songs is they just aren't long enough. LoL. I think you might like reacting to one of their videos called " Southerner in the Snow". It isn't a song ( though it does contain some bits of their music) but , it showcases Tim and shows some of his sense of humor. And his ...dislike of cold weather. LoL. Adam R. Is in it also.
