It's even more fantastic as both Tim and Peter were on different island countries when this was put together by Peter...plus that last G-1 note Tim gave at the end was awesome....
This is my favorite version of this song. The contrast in voices is beautiful. Peter in the higher tenor ranges & then paired with the true natural bass voice of Tim. And that last dragon's breath note is truly remarkable & how long he sustains it. Peter & Tim have collaborated on quite a few other songs & they are all beautiful. Peter is a master at layering voices. Check out "Sound Of Silence", "Bridge Over Troubled Water", "Greensleeves", "Fire & Rain", "Teach Your Children", "Sunshine On My Shoulders", "You Can Close Your Eyes", "And So It Goes", "Blackbird", "You've Got A Friend".
Peter and Tim have done several songs together and Peter has been quoted that he loves working with Tim and Home Free both and would work with them anytime! Peter also will layer himself and his guests as many as 100 or more times. This was all Tim and Peter from the lowest at the end to the highest, which was Peter on the high place that you stopped. Beautiful arrangement! Good job Red! Low bass Kenneth
@@MaKettle111 yes, very aware! Tim’s sound is unique and you can pick him out in a lot of the notes, some places you just need a lower voice to sing in the upper for strength of sound! I think I heard Peter in an interview say there was close to 100 layers. I don’t remember the exact number but that’s a bunch! Thanks MaKettle111! Low bass Kenneth
Tim said in his interview with Peter Barber, that a lot of times in Home free when Austin and Rob are singing lower that he will be singing the higher track. And we all know how high Austin can sing. 🤣🤣🤣 And yes, Peter is the layering God. That man, layers and layers and layers. And his songs come out beautifully. I like the duets that he does with his wife best though.
You mentioned being a fan of Tim. You should listen to "Will you still love me tomorrow/Stay" from his solo album. This song is truly a showcase of what he is capable of and it's obvious how much fun he has doing what he does best.
This is the reason it sounds very 'Lord of the Rings': ‘Far over the Misty Mountains Cold’ is a poem written by J.R.R. Tolkien. It is a song sung by the dwarves in the book ‘The Hobbit’ and describes their journey to the Lonely Mountain to reclaim their treasure from the dragon Smaug. The poem has been adapted into a song for the movie ‘The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey’.
Tim and Peter were is separate locations to film this. Peter was in Oregon and Tim was in The Grand Cayman Islands. That is why they did the split screen. Peter is a master at layering their voices. I believe he used 120 different tracts in recording this. That is how they sounded like a choir, and yet it is only Peter and Tim's voices. Simply breath taking. and watching your expression when Tim hit and held that last note was priceless. This may yet inspire me and get me in the mood to paint a new picture. Maybe a fantasy picture. Until next time.
You had exactly the reaction I was hoping for. Your face expressed everything I feel when I listen to this and I couldn't tell you how many times that has been. Peter is a master at layering voices, giving everything he releases so much depth. You should definitely add Peter to your ever expanding list of artists. Beside many colabs with Tim, he has done a couple with all of Home Free.
Yessss! Peter has a great voice, and of course Tim Foust! Just in case you were wondering this is a song from Tolkien's The Hobbit and its in the first part of the Hobbit trilogy An Unexpected Journey! Thank you for reacting to this!
@redheadedneighbor if you ever get into reacting to movies, please react to the Lord Of The Rings trilogy and Hobbit trilogy extended editions! Also in 1977 I was 12 and my dad took my sister and I to see Star Wars A New Hope and I was forever changed! So please react to those starting with episodes 4-6 if you start down that road reacting to movies. Thank you Red!
AWESOME, Snow = more content.... a win for all of us. Peter is a master at layering, this is multiple layers of both he and Tims voices singing all the parts
This has been a favorite Tolkien number among several a cappella groups, but this one is my favorite. Peter's voice is beautiful for a start, but his masterful layering of their two voices into an ethereal choir is perfection. And the arrangement of dissonances that resolve only to pull us back again. Your reaction and comments are exactly right. This is sheer beauty.
Thank you for the awesome reaction, your facial expressions said it all. As I was thinking about what to comment, I watched your likes just rolling along, cause we love your reactions.
Peter is the master of stunning and beautiful videos. He has collaborated with Home Free several times, too. He, his Patrons, Home Free and their Patrons were invited to submit themselves singing different parts along with the previous in the cover of U2”s “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For”. It’s fabulous!
It’s so good!! If you stare at Tim at the end you’ll see the camera shake. He did look through your soul. Peter has a beautiful voice and he and Tim have many collaborations, in fact they have an album out. So many good songs. Try Bridge Over Troubled Water, Greensleeves, And So it Goes. Good one Red!!!🥰
Perfect reaction, Red! This is my favorite Foust/ Hollens collab and my favorite version of the song. Peter belongs in the Elven choir in Lothlorien, and Tim belongs in the mountains deep with the Dwarves. (But he'll have to borrow Rob's beard!)
Home Free and the various individuals of Home Free have collaborated with many artists and all of their efforts have been GOLDEN and just make one go “wow “!!!! And then each member of Home Free is so phenomenal in their own right and they have so many gifts that you only get to see every once in a while. For example: Rob has a n uncanny ability to whistle and it is just incredible. Their ability to not only write songs, but write the music and write arrangements. The support staff is also top notch, with arrangements, writing the video scenes and the video production!!! They are all around amazing and the best in every detail from start to finish!!!! Yeah, they are the best!!!!!! Looking forward to seeing them again in Salina, KS. ❤❤❤❤❤
Their voices just blend so beautifully together. I love how well he sings with just Tim or Chance or when he sings with all of Home Free. They are all just so incredibly gifted. God blessed them and now us by letting us listen to them.
Peter did a collaboration with Avi Kaplan (the bass from Pentatonix) back in 2012 that I think you would find quite moving. It's the folksong Black Is The Color Of My True Love's Hair. Even if you don't do a reaction to it you should give it a listen. It is breathtaking. You will probably need to just sit quietly afterwards and take it in and then listen to it again 3 or 4 more times. Avi also has solo work now that you would enjoy. I recommend starting with Fields and Pier. Enjoy. ✌
Heeey, Red. It seems everyone that performs in the a Capella YT-universe knows Peter Hollens. He's one of the OGs for sure. He and Home Free have done many collabs over the years, and Peter and Tim are quite good friends. Peter and his wife Evynne are amazing human beings, so selfless and giving, and incredible vocalists and musicians. Most of what they've done with Home Free will leave you speechless - this one blows me away every time I hear it. Over 120 layers recorded and blended by Peter with Tim's assistance. They weren't even in the same country when they recorded this (Peter was home in Portland, and Tim was in Grand Cayman). Amazing talent. Thanks as always for your very genuine reaction! It's so fun to watch you react. Stay warm - wind chill was -29° here today - soup and bread sounds great!) 🥶❄
Peter and Tim have an entire album together. All listed as Peter Hollens featuring Tim Foust. The following will blow your musical mind! Bridge Over Troubled Waters, Sound of Silence, Greensleeves, Fire and Rain, Blackbird and several others.
Peter and Tim do wonderful music together. They have been singing together for 20+ years, so they know each other's voice (and how versatile each one is!!) and can do magnificent arrangements that really fit. Check out Peter's collabs with HF, too - Amazing Grace, I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For, and TWO different versions of 19 You and Me. The Amazing Grace will stop you in your tracks.
I already knew that you were aware of Tim's talents. I was just waiting for you to hear Peter when he started his solo part. You didn't disappoint. Great reaction Although Tim is my favorite bass singer Geoff Castellucci comes in a very close second. Check out his TH-cam channel and pick out any song that's listed. You will be thrilled!!!
I had previously requested you do this song several times. And I am very happy to have watched you do this reaction. I enjoyed watching you very much. Great song!
Perfect reaction, Red. The way you take the music in, your expressions and your comments -- totally apt. I so enjoy accompanying someone on this journey, down all the "side" roads being an essential part of it. Speaking of which, your listening with your eyes closed made me think how much you'd like Chance's "Driver's License", on his channel. Totally random thought. But there it is.
Thank you for this reaction. Knew you would appreciate this. Loved the description "shrouded by sound". Knew the harmonies and final note would floor you. Thanks again.❤❤
Very nicely done, Neighbor! You might want to react to Peter Hollens singing with Home Free and covering the U2 song, "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For"--with background vocals being provided by their fans! It's wonderful! (BTW, no snow here today in Minnesota, but temperature is currently -3 degrees...I have a Coke Zero and a fizzy water on hand, plus some chips...lol)
If you close your eyes and imagine: you begin in the Mines of Moria, then fight you way through the golbins launching into the air, floating peacefully over the clouds, then descend into the mountain lair of Smaugh the dragon this is how I feel when I listen to this. So much for Bugs Bunny! Now you are a Home Fry we'll have you singing opera, yodelling with Austin, crying at bring him home and as you said it best, "Ya'll, now I'm gonna get all mushy!" There's so much yet to explore and we love spending a few precious minutes per day sharing it with you. Thank you!
As another suggestion, you could do a reaction to Voiceplay's video "Just Sing", because it has multiple other singers that sang with Tim Faust and Geoff Castellucci and the Voiceplay gang
Great reaction to 2 amazing singers when you get time 1 for your list the big push - dignity awesome and there own song many thanks love and respect from the UK 👍👍🌟😀😀 amazing channel 👍
I love how you just relish the experiences and enjoy each note. "Shrouded in Sound" could not be more accurate for this song. Amazing reaction as always, neighbor. Keep it up!
All of the voices we hear, Peter and Tim. Those are the only 2 to make vocal sounds in this video. That just shows Peter's ability to layer and edit it all together. At times, I thought there was a full blown choir singing. I'm glad that you heard this. And thank you for sharing this with us.
This is one of my favorites! So haunting and beautiful! Tim’s vocal range is so versatile! From one end of the spectrum to the other, quite amazing! I sing bass but that last note is unbelievable! Good reaction as always! I just love your reactions more so than any others that I watch! You are a beautiful lady and you have a beautiful soul! Check out Tim’s other side projects, especially the ones where he shows his versatility! Take Care and God Bless! 🙏🏻❤️
Greetings "Redheaded neighbor.....it truly pleases me to find more reactors such as yourself discovering this outstanding music for the first time ...and enjoying and being moved by this!! Thank you for this clip!! keep em coming young lady!!
Great reaction! Peter Hollens have made several projects with Home Free, all of them are stunning! If you wish, you may check out their version of U2's "I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For" - and you will be surprised by something that appears for the first time in Home Free's song.😉
Peter is a light in the acapella community. Like PTX, Home Free, Street Corner Symphony he was on The Sing Off as leader of On The Rocks from Univ of Oregon, his alma mater. I would recommend watching his commencement address to University of Oregon 10 years after his graduation (missed for work self employed - he never worked in music for anyone but himself}. Peter has collaborated with a wide variety of vocalists making a trip through his videos on TH-cam a tour to other acapella musicians. And don't overlook his duets with his wife Evynn.
I woke up at 7 AM this morning it was -21°… Now it’s 2 PM and it’s 14°! Another day of thawing water lines in northern Colorado! Stay warm…Another fun collaboration between Tim and Peter is the folk song Greensleeves!! Tim will be singing deep bass one moment and tenor the next! Also listen to their collaboration on. Sound of silence… And bridge over troubled water!! Peter also collaborated with all of Home Free singing…Amazing Grace… & “19 You and Me!!
I like this, I’ve heard VoicePlay’s version as well - there’s not much to choose between them except maybe VoicePlay’s version is perhaps a bit more theatrical. Tim and Peter’s voice mix so well in this and Tim’s high notes are amazing! You looked like you really enjoyed it, helps forget about the weather! 🌹
Just love your reactions ❤❤❤Tim has been know to blow speakers in concert OK so maybe I am a bit bias LOL Home Free also did God Blessed Texas for Hurricain Relief they do so much for others 🙏🙏🙏 #peterhollens #reaction #timfoust #homefree #homefry #redheadedneighbor Stay warm Kiddo 💛💚💙
Call me to the wild, beckon me to the adventure, let me venture into the darkness of the unknown and fill me with the sounds to fill me with the courage to complete my quest. Rb
Far Over the Misty Mountains Cold - Low Bass Singer Cover by Geoff Castellucci is another fabulous take of the same song. I love listening to or watching them back to back. Geoff's same personas appear in his version of I See Fire from the Hobbit. Peter Hollens, who joins Tim in this video also has a video for I See Fire, feat. Taylor Davis. But the one I love and adore is Peter solo, just layers and layers of Peter Hollens with great visuals and lighting and sound. Another amazing treasure by Peter Hollens feat. Home Free is I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For. That one will take your breath away with it beauty.
What a great reaction to this song! I had never thought of it as poetry before, but I understand what you mean. Looking forward to more with Peter and Tim.
@@redheadedneighbor Yes, very much so. I was almost holding my breath watching you react to that last note. That's how it hit me when I listened to it the first time.
Oh, Peter and Avi, formally of Pentatonix worked together on another haunting song. They did a beautiful rendition of the old Celtic folk love song, 'Black Is The Color Of My True Love's Hair.'
Greetings from Alberta neighbour! so glad to have accidentally meeting you here today. No longer in the minus 40's here in Alberta...... now is quite nice for shorts in my opinion, Canadians always have one of 'those' guys... well that was me. heheh..... love that you are loving this tune..... has been a music ninght for me... loving it. Happy new years! And thanks for the virtual company for this tune.Make Alberta Great Again..... but wear underweear under those swimming trunks, and ditch sandals at about -30C hah, not.
Ha ha ha! Your sense of humor is wonderful. I am wearing an orange hunters sweatshirt and thick sweatpants all topped off with a fuzzy blanket. Lol! But I can still enjoy music!
What a marvelous reaction... and did you know they were not even at the same location when they created this masterpiece? PS.. a lovely sunny 70 degrees Fahrenheit here :)
It's even more fantastic as both Tim and Peter were on different island countries when this was put together by Peter...plus that last G-1 note Tim gave at the end was awesome....

Peter and Tim sang together in the same Accapella group in the early 2000’s.
Besides this one, 3 of my favorites are Greensleeves, Blackbird and Sounds of Silence! These 2 are masterful together! ❤
Peter is a master at creating layered music and this is one of his BEST. More than 125 layers of just their voices creating a miracle.
A masterpiece to be sure.

I first discovered #PeterHollens, and then #HomeFree a short time later. You'll find some great Peter Hollens music here. 🎼Enjoy
I love the camera shake at the end. Tim is literally a force of nature. :D

Peter and tim doing “greensleaves” is beautiful.
It is always mesmerizing each time I hear it. Thanks Red!
Thanks for listening
loved your reaction, keep exploring their works. Tim & Peter's voices meld so perfectly.
Tim and Peter did a whole album together called Duets. Everyso g on it is amazing. Love this version of this song❤
Thank you for the awesome reaction, your facial expressions said it all. As I was thinking about what to comment, I watched your likes just rolling along, cause we love your reactions.
Wow, thank you
Great job again Red!!! Just awesome watching reactions. Rumor has it that Peter is coming out with a album with just him and Tim singing.
Ohhhhh!
Peter said it took 120 tracts of their voices to produce this song.
Whoa!

Love your reactions!

I love Tim's bass voice so much
So good
these two are incredible together. gives me goosebumps everywhere and tears in the eyes, it's so well done
Greensleves with Peter and Tim is beautiful.
I love seeing your face when you react to the highs and lows😊

Now that you've heard Tim (and Peter) you MUST hear Austin Brown do Bring Him Home....you owe it to yourself and all of us!❤😢❤
Oh, wow!
Amazing, isn't it? Their voices work so well together. I especially like their covers of "Sounds of Silence" and "And So It Goes" and "Blackbird".
Awesome!

True story
Hi, Red! I LOVE your content & reactions. You can't go wrong with Peter and Tim together.

Thank you my friend for some awesome music 🎵🎵 and an amazing channel love and respect from the UK 👍👍🌟😀😀
That was an awesome song and reaction. I am learning about so many different artists because of your channel.
Wasn’t that amazing?!🤯
Love this. My favorite Home free cover is "Helplessly Hoping". The harmonies are next level..
I'll check it out!
I love how you just relish the experiences and enjoy each note. "Shrouded in Sound" could not be more accurate for this song. Amazing reaction as always, neighbor. Keep it up!
Thank you very much!
"Experiential" is the perfect word.
All of the voices we hear, Peter and Tim. Those are the only 2 to make vocal sounds in this video. That just shows Peter's ability to layer and edit it all together. At times, I thought there was a full blown choir singing. I'm glad that you heard this. And thank you for sharing this with us.
all that sound from two singers crazy aint it whenever Tim and Peter get together magic happens!! try greensleeves it is fantastic
This will sure warm ya up! 😂❤❤
Thanks for listening
Peter was filmed in Oregon (our home state) and Tim was in the Caribbean.
That like a d4 on the low scale . Super harmonious.
You need to listen to Tim foust singing will you still love me tomorrow/ stay
Loved it.

I’ll be glad when the winter passes
You should try Peter Hollens and Home Free covering I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For - with a special choir. Highly recommended.
That is so wild!!!
Peter Hollens "I See Fire" is another one from the Tolkien movies that is awesome
It really is! Peter layers himself so many times it sounds like a symphony choir!
Talent beyond!!!!!!!!!
Call me to the wild, beckon me to the adventure, let me venture into the darkness of the unknown and fill me with the sounds to fill me with the courage to complete my quest. Rb
Lovely!
These sound stunning
You should definitely check out their collab on Black Is The Color of My True Love's Hair!
keep speaking from the heart. Another reason to share is to heal your audience. Thank you.
💕
What a great reaction to this song! I had never thought of it as poetry before, but I understand what you mean. Looking forward to more with Peter and Tim.
Thanks Red! 🙂
Any time!
Awesome, been waiting for you to react to this one.
Hope you enjoyed it!
Love this!
Hey, Red! We don’t have as much snow in my part of Indiana but we are in the single digits and negatives here. Stay warm and safe. ❤
Ohhh burrrrrrr! Stay safe
@@redheadedneighbor You too! Don't want a blue face with that red hair!

You need too check out more of Peter he is great on his own stuff too.
That was definitely a Tim the Dragon's breath moment at the end,
Tim has blown several speaker systems in live shows with his low notes.Tim in an interview said there were 152 layers in this recording.❤️
I bet he has!!
