  • You got to love a guy like Carroll Shelby who said screw it, let's put a 500 HP 497 ft-lb 427 big block Ford V8 in a light hand-sculpted roaster that weighs maybe 2,400 pounds wet, and then go racing! Now we need to be clear, this is not an original Shelby Cobra creation which if it was, would put the car's value well into the seven figures. Still, this is a South American-made Superformance Cobra, which is the closest thing to the real deal you will find.
I got to say, these Superformance Shelby Cobra MKIII's are not cheap. We featured two in this video and both ticked the scales between $100k-$120k. But, there is no doubt about the quality of these builds. While the body is fiberglass, you can spend a whole lot more and order your Shelby Cobra MKIII in an aluminum body. We discussed that in this Shelby Cobra MKIII video review. But just check out all the details that we did our best to show on the front montage from the gauges, the engines, the wheels, the Wilwood brakes, the aluminum pedals, the leather seats, paint, and more.
The driving experience of this silver 1965 Shelby Cobra MKIII was intimidating. The pedals are small for me, and shift a good deal to the left which while doable does that a minute to get used to. We took a brief POV drive in the Shelby Cobra MKIII and did our best to record useable audio. This is an open-top car on a very hot humid August day so it was a brief drive this time! But, I think you can get the idea of how the Shelby Cobra MKIII drives from that massive powerplant, the heavy clutch, and the open-top driving bliss.
Overall, the Shelby Cobra MKIII is one badass car. It may be the most American creation on the channel, and no true car enthusiast can deny the dope factor of a Shelby Cobra MKIII. It's a timeless and a dying breed of American automotive history. I would totally own one myself, and frankly, this blue one in this video had me weak at the knees guys! Just look at the engine in that beautiful Shelby Cobra MKIII, and the tan interior on dark blue metallic is just incredible.
We really hope you enjoy our Shelby Cobra MKIII. We have to give a big thank you to Marcus and Christina at 427 Garage in Carthage, TN for their hospitality. You can visit their website and inquire with them about owning your very own American classic at www.427garage.com/
Thank you for watching our 1965 Shelby Cobra MKIII review. It is a challenging car to shoot, especially with this hot humid August weather. But, if you're interested in a Shelby Cobra MKIII, I think this video will help you understand not only more about Superformance, but the overall creation created by the legend Carrol Shelby.

Great video. I absolutely love this car. Thank you for treating us to such a sublime experience. One thing I'd like to add to the replica argument: if it's built by Shelby themselves (CSX and CCX models) or by Superformance, and it's built to genuine original spec, I personally do not consider these replicas. They don't cost above a million because those that do are the ones carrying the history and heritage with them; they were raced back in the 60's by famous figures and they were the very cars used to win big races. That's basically much of what you're paying for, and you cannot clock many modern miles on them because that would tarnish that value. That's why the CSX, CCX, and Superformance models that are built to original spec are the way to go to really enjoy this car, as-is, minus the burden of heritage.

Looks and sounds great. Timelessly beautiful. About the closest thing to a 4 wheel motorcycle you can get.

Love Superformance, some fine South African engineering. My friend used to daily-drive his. SA also has CAV GT, building just about the best GT40 replica in the world right now, out of Cape Town.

Before you dismiss “kit” cars as junk perhaps you should visit Factory Five and actually see what they have to offer. A kit car is indeed at the mercy of the person building it as to final fit and finish, but Factory Five provides an excellent tubular chassis, uses Wilwood brakes, offers Blue Print and Ford Racing motors as shell as Tremec transmissions, Ford 8.8 live axle (assembled by Moser) or Mustang IRS differentials, Koni dual adjustable shocks, and other top quality products as part of their kits. They also have a list of top quality “preferred builders” if you don’t want to assemble the car yourself. I wouldn’t turn a Superformance or Backdraft Cobra down, but a Factory Five can look and perform equally to those more expensive options.

@@Driven-Productions A great video would be a shootout: Superformance vs. Factory Five. No one has ever done this before, and I know because I'm always looking. One "king of the hill" vs. another "king of the hill" but in their respective playing fields. Again, owning both, I can say they are both beasts, but I'd say the Superformance is a quality, livable Cobra, and the Factory Five is a butt-hurting race car. The Superformance is 80% street and 20% track, and the Factory Five is the other way around. But then again, I built my Factory Five that way on purpose, and it's for that reason I bought the Superformance. It's easier to live with.

The Incredibly stupid looking, oversized clown shoe rims, and rubber band tires completely RUIN the race look of that iconic car. Would be like adding a hip hop beat to Hotel California or Stairway To Heaven. I smh to the level of ignorance.
