I've owned over 70 cars and one of my favorites, out of all of them, was my 1962 Austin Healey 3000 Mk 2 with the triple carb setup (one year only), white with black coves, red interior, black soft top, black hardtop, silver wire wheels .... lovely car. Drove it for three years while I flew jets for the RCAF, then took it back to Montreal where it proved impractical for the harsh Quebec winters. Sold it to someone in the states. Probably my favourite classic car but would have to have different colour and some chrome , useable and reliable with modern drive train, thanks Ped you've made my day great video.👍
Oh my days, that soundtrack is virtually perfection! Did this car feature in the original Bad Boys movie? Car designers need to pay more attention to the ergonomics of the elbow rest!
I'm watching this for the second time. Visually and audibly, I'm having a religious experience. Being from the colonies, I've heard this sound all my life but in my 20's, I got into the European sound. Then, I thought this sounded unsophisticated and crude. There was an American racer/journalist named Denise McCluggage who described this as the 'brown' sound. I knew what she meant and I agreed. Maybe it's age and nostalgia but now I love it. But I will always love the high-revving European sound. A Lambo and a Cobra can make sweet music, right?

These are called Cobra for a reason, Cobras Bite! The front engine and longer separate pipes, compared to the GT40's rear engine and short pipes, give it such a gorgeous sound! Both sound beautiful but the Cobra definitely growls at you when you step on the Happy pedal.

@@PetrolPed Race number was 24, it had a black hard top..... had a really good look around it in the pits. If there were any sound restrictions in place that day the car wasn’t listening.... as you say, the noise it made really was epic ! Loving the channel, keep up the great content !
Love the car but it would HAVE to be the 427, “Ford Racing” engine for me, much closer to the originals, the “Coyote” is just too modern!
Yep, the 427 has a totally different growl, just like the original.
I love and raced FE s but that new motor just pulls for ever and forever is a long time
@@cooperparts You're killing me! Trying to decide on a 427 or the coyote. Based on your experience, which is faster 0-60?? Thinking of stroking out a 427 to about 700H.P. Would love to get your thoughts.
427 fe stroked with 428 crank 454 cid great but 427 Windsor the one I had in my cobra better because it is lighter the coyote winds higher that is what I want in my gt40 anyone of them would be great make sure it has 500 hp that is the key to value dyno proven 500 hp cars lot more value superformance is the best the # is on the hood hinge backdraft 2 nd no other one compares
@@cooperparts Interesting! I currently have a windsor stroked out to 500+ at the rear. Recently went from an 850 holley to 750. Seems to have lost a little of it's ummpff, but maybe it's just me. I'm thinking my expectations of a 427 big block are too high. Thanks for the info.!
If it was a song it will hit NO 1 in the top 100 .
👍
Nothing like a V8! Driving refinement perfection in Any V8!
She is loud, but looks like the best exhaust set up to suit a Cobra!!! It,s not for shopping in Peter you would get no peace from people who would want to know everything and with your business you wouldn’t,t have the time, so just enjoy these exotics when you can and we will carry on watching you👍👍👍🚘🚘🚘
👍
Awesome car, no compromises, saw one in front of Costco in Santa Maria, CA....leaves that kind of memory, you remember exactly when and where. Nab the Coyote from the new Mustang Mach 1 with the Tremec from the GT350. I know I am supposed to like the Voodoo, but the Coyote is also special (cross vs flat). An NA V8 is a great sound.
I agree totally with your choice. Shelby Cobra and the Austin Healey 3000. I am pleased it seems you will get to fulfil your dream of driving both... me, unlikely. However, the soundtrack to this video was amazing and sent shivers up the spine and it was great to see how much sheer joy you got from driving this car. This channel is the only one I follow regularly on any topic. Such good quality and honest useful content whilst your passion really shows. Keep up the great work. I can only imagine the number of followers keep increasing.
Thanks Simon 🙏🏻
Fantastic car and video.
Is it me or the dipstick was missing?
One of my favorite cars and for me one of the best sounding cars ever is the Mustang 350GT and best looking too
Still amazing that these kind of cars are still allowed to be made in these days of regulation ..Great video.👍
Cheers Andy 👍
a guy at work (in the 90s) built a cobra kit car with Jag E type engine, sounded fab.
What a great looking and sounding car!
👍
DAYUM! Black on black... she's a bad mama jama! RIP and Godspeed to the man himself, Carroll Shelby.
Hi Peter, What a car to enjoy on a hot sunny day and that throbbing sound it's just perfect. I would love to spec one up if I had the cash . Great Video Peter.
Thanks Alan. I am now saving up 😂
This video was so enjoyable. Now I have to figure out how to get that sound out of my MX5!
Can a Coyote V8 fit in an MX5 🤔😜😂
Trade it in for a SLK55?
Can't wait to have mine built out to my specs... its going to be a rocket 🚀
Brilliant car. Oliver just comes across as a really top bloke too. Need him more on your channel.
He is a lovely guy and will defo be on the channel again 👍
Thank you Dale. We have a few more cars on order so when done, Petrol Ped will be over for a drive :)
Probably my favourite classic car but would have to have different colour and some chrome , useable and reliable with modern drive train, thanks Ped you've made my day great video.👍
They had a lovely MkII that was that kind of spec and probably the one I would take home 👌
3:07 the viper is very curvy as well but it is inspired by the cobra.
Thank Pete for sharing rare petrol head contents!
My pleasure 👍
I enjoyed watching the Video. The best Corba Engine Sound ever
Oh my days, that soundtrack is virtually perfection! Did this car feature in the original Bad Boys movie? Car designers need to pay more attention to the ergonomics of the elbow rest!
Mate the elbow rest was literally perfect 😂
I'm watching this for the second time. Visually and audibly, I'm having a religious experience. Being from the colonies, I've heard this sound all my life but in my 20's, I got into the European sound. Then, I thought this sounded unsophisticated and crude. There was an American racer/journalist named Denise McCluggage who described this as the 'brown' sound. I knew what she meant and I agreed. Maybe it's age and nostalgia but now I love it. But I will always love the high-revving European sound. A Lambo and a Cobra can make sweet music, right?
Gimme the US cross plane burble over Euro flat plane howl anyday!
I think you have developed the Damon from DDE speed grin!! This is one of my all time favourite cars, thanks for sharing Pete.
It certainly is a grin generator 👍
The. Engine. In. The. Cobra. Sounds amazing totally. Mind. Blowing 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂👍
So good!
I need one of those cars! That noise... wow! I dread to think what the RRP is but remortgaging the house might make sense :D
I’m selling a kidney on EBay 😜😂
This car tick's all the right box's for me, Great review👌👍🙂, RWD, manual, exhaust sound, big engine in a small car😯, all weather driving. I'm keen to see the other car's mentioned in the video🙏.
I am keen to drive them 😜😂
Wow that does sound epic !!! What a crazy fun ride and Oliver is a true car guy 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻🍻🇨🇦
Epic in every way 👍
Thank you 😊
There is no better car than the Shelby Cobra ... my absolute dream car!
These are called Cobra for a reason, Cobras Bite! The front engine and longer separate pipes, compared to the GT40's rear engine and short pipes, give it such a gorgeous sound! Both sound beautiful but the Cobra definitely growls at you when you step on the Happy pedal.
Shame the instruments are not as original - the reverse speedometer was an iconic feature of the original Cobra...
Amazing!! Sounded so much better through my headphones rather than the Macbook! lol
I’m just pleased I managed to capture it 👍
What a true gent Oliver is, hats off for bringing those beasts to the channel. 👍
I’m sure it’s not the last time he will be on the channel 👍
Thank you 😊 was all down to Petrol Ped being a top chap and good driver!
I love Cobras My dad built 2 of them 👍🧽🏁 This sounded spot on😀
Thanks for the pics 👍
What an amazing car and sound more more more please 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I’ve got a feel for these kind of cars now 😜👍
lol not first! But hi everyone hope all are safe healthy and happy! Also hope your able to enjoy the day today! What a fantastic video. That car sounds so aggressive and tough. I remember seeing one real one at a car show with a few replicas by it. There a car you can’t forget. Such a cool experience for you Sir Pete
Torrential rain in Glasgow...
@@p.h.234 it rained this morning here in Michigan but now it’s sunny and nice.
I need one in my life 😂
@@PetrolPed i bet ya do and it would be a awesome stable mate for ruby lol
Just watched this for the first time it made the hair stand up on the back my neck must be watched wearing headphones 😁
the noise ! epic car, excellent reviewing
Cheers mate. It ticked every box for me 👌
