    Being stalked is difficult to explain. I didn’t know what it was until later, after years of being haunted by that persons behavior. They are stealth in ways that get personal. They WILL envolve family, their own and yours, who become unwilling flying monkeys or might blame you for not getting them to go away! It’s horrible!

    • @TherapistTamaraHill
      @TherapistTamaraHill  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It can be horrible. Yes. The most important key here, though, is figuring out if this is truly stalking or if this is harassment of some kind. Not everything is stalking and I think that's where most people "get lost" in this topic. And you certainly would have to prove that the person is truly stalking you and not trying to stress you out in an attitude of revenge. If that is the case, law enforcement will take a report but not follow up on anything until they have concrete proof.
      The process can seem torturing to those who are truly being stalked.

    • @rootsiebee
      @rootsiebee 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@TherapistTamaraHill He had an obsession with me that became stalking. Now-a-days I would have possibly gained surveillance equipment and known what it was. Back in the 70’s the word ‘stalking’ as it pertains to being followed, watched, and surprised with unwanted visits wasn’t in a young woman’s or parent’s worries. We generally called them ‘creeps’, but when they don’t look creepy and they exude manners, power, and charm their repeated offenses can be underrated and ignored by law enforcement, family, and some of the people you thought might help. Being our own hero in such matters is too often met with having to leave, flee, and run.

    • @rootsiebee
      @rootsiebee 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      A clear definition of stalking is possibly overlapping into abusive manipulation by means of predatory, territorial and depravity by the stalker who gets their ‘jollies’ by being that stealthy creep that ONLY their target or maybe a select few around their target see. The stalking for them is gaining control because just when you start to feel free of them, and whatever shame they’ll cook into your mind, they will appear behind the potato chip stand, knock on the door, be at the gas station or three cars back, take away your tickets to freedom. They will casually remind you to keep your eyes open and on them just when you think you could look over there. They are like a cat playing a mouse.

    I went to a gym for about two years, then the employee from there ended up stalking me. When I finally understood he was dangerous was when the police said he doesn't care if we tell him to leave you alone. It took me awhile not to just laugh at him after a lifetime of abuse. I believe he was the rejected type because I didn't give him the time of day when I worked out at that gym.

  • @pamchesler242
    @pamchesler242 4 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

    Wow, I am so grateful to you for doing this video because all of a sudden I got a different perspective of my stalker who happens to be my next-door neighbor.
    It definitely began with a rejection from me in the form of a text where I felt uncomfortable around him, and I felt as you mentioned something didn’t feel right ..
    But then you began to speak about challenges, such as autism, and so on, and now when I think back on the way, he acted and behaved I kept thinking that he seemed kind of childish ..
    But for some reason, he’s not really letting up, but it’s not constant either. It’s his family now that lives next-door. He lives with his fiancé and they notify him when I leave the house then he notifies somebody he must pay, and I noticed the pick up truck and the color and so on.
    I have literally decided to just live my life and pretend as if it’s not happening because it’s been going on for so long that I believe this is a game and I don’t believe it’s permanent and I don’t believe it’s gonna lead to worse. It just stinks that it’s happening.
    My question to you if you happen to see this , if it is indeed a combination of a rejection, but also that he has some challenges like emotionally or with autism which now I believe is the case I feel like I don’t know what to do, but just let it be.
    I’ve spoken to the police there has been a case opened up, but there’s never been a clear or present danger and they have all advised me to do exactly what it is. I’m doing, but I truly believe and agree that there should be a law in place in every single state that this should be a crime.
    So I kept thinking to myself where do I go to voice my opinion about this do I go to the governor? Do I write a letter or do I call the office?
    Anybody have any thoughts or ideas or success if they’ve had this idea?
    I am really struggling with anxiety, but more so anger that I’m being disrespected in such a way …
    I permit myself to feel angry behind closed doors. I show absolutely no reaction when it’s happening, and in fact, I’ve actually been assertive and in front of them have taken down license plate numbers and I followed them as well. They all seem to be very frightened except for the ones he pays they don’t care one way or the other . I call them is flying monkeys.
    Sometimes I’m in my room and I yell and curse because I still don’t believe that even if you had autism that he would have the knowledge that he has to hack my phone to locate me to do all this. There has to be something going on also with his history.
    So this is getting long enough, but these are all just questions that may never be answered. I think the focus needs to be placed back on myself and what I can do to just live with this. I somehow believe this is a challenge that I’m facing to teach me something Spiritually it’s actually something that may help me grow in a way that would be positive.
    Of course I didn’t want it to be this type of challenge, but this is what I believe is the case .
    I’m actually forced into taking care of myself educating myself and all that actually empowers you even though the situation itself sucks

    I had a case of stalking a few years ago when I was living in Japan. I originally talked to the police about obscenity laws because this adult student of mine was having some of the male teachers "review" her performance in subtle ways to me (we're adults - you can guess what that means), and the police officer was alarmed that this was in fact stalking. She had no concern whatsoever the next time we met.
    I've watched some of your videos on stalking in addition to reading different descriptions. What I'm curious to know is how does attention seeking fit into the profile of a stalker? In hindsight, she had my attention, and that seemed more important to her than how I might perceive her promiscuity. I've seen in other cases of stalking where the stalker leaves a strange item on the doorstep of the victim to find, but the item has no real meaning. The stalker just wanted the victim to find it, and in doing so the victim gave attention to the stalker.
    Stalking is more than attention seeking, but to me at least this seems like one of the basic desires of the stalker. Though attention seeking is not described in the psychological literature that I've read. Thoughts?

    When I was being stalked, people didn’t seem to care and even when she came to places that I frequented people enabled her and I felt like I just couldn’t get away no matter what. She was a neighbor and we got along really well, but my boyfriend had left me and I suddenly had to figure out how to take care of all of my business and meet my needs so I didn’t have time to stop and talk. She knew that but she started stalking me anyway. That’s what everyone needs, a person who when their friend has a crisis they’re right there to make it worse. 🙄

    Always insightful on this subject, and I thank you for taking the time out of your day to discuss this topic. I had a question in regard to the resentful/rejection stalker. Could self-delusion fall under that category? Like they're projecting this toxic idea in their head that you don't like them, so they go to the extremes to get revenge on a false belief. I believe my stalker deals with those delusional thought patterns.

      Thank you so much for this kind comment. I'm so glad this is helpful to you and many of the others on this channel.
      That's a great question! I'd say that could definitely fall under that category. This is a possibility but not something research in psychology has made an effort to fully understand. We certainly need more research and studies in this area.

    People on the Autistic Spectrum typically are not stalkers! We avoid people because most people cause drama and are exhausting to be around.

    • @TherapistTamaraHill
      @TherapistTamaraHill  4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Do you have research to support that claim? If so, please post.
      The research doesn't say (nor did I) that individuals on the spectrum are stalkers or avoid others.
      I merely stated that SOMETIMES people on the spectrum can stalk and may stalk another person OR stay a distance from them due to anxiety or lack of social skills. And the incompetent stalker profile often fits here.
      Keep in mind that you are only one person on the spectrum in a world full of different individuals with different mindsets. You may not exhibit these behaviors, but some do and we have to be honest about clinical research.

    Would an uncle, who you have blocked on Facebook, (as well as the rest of your narcissistic family cult) who then creates 13 different Facebook pages that you have to block be an example of stalking? I would block each one and then another would pop up. During that time (10 + years I was no contact to low contact with one family member). I had blocked all the rest.

      My cousin and her oldest daughter (who is in her 30's now) also change their social media sites. Every time they find us and contact us, they just keep changing their sites to troll and cyber bully and stalk people, it's their pattern. I think it is a hobby with them since I am not the only one they have done this too. Like a drug to them or something, seems they love drama and conflicts. They need to get a better hobby.

    I had the same reaction as you did when I found out I was being stalked by my next-door, neighbor…
    It’s been a year now and I truly in my gut believe that this is a person that’s been attracted to me and I remember feeling what you mentioned in that was something wasn’t right .
    I had texted him that he confused me and I asked him to pretend like I didn’t exist .
    That’s when it all began and it’s only gotten worse however, I don’t react. I don’t respond and the only thing the police can do is support me by opening up a case, but it really should be considered a crime and it should be taken very seriously by law-enforcement.
    Do they have to wait until someone dies to take it seriously in the answer to that is probably yes just like with what happened to George Floyd because it was videotaped .
    It’s the same thing here you have to mass your own evidence get license plate numbers body cams. It’s just almost as sickening that we have to protect ourselves as it is that they’re stalking us.
    But when I’m noticing is, I’m getting stronger as I don’t react and I realize that they are so fearful and so unstable that I don’t fear anymore anything physical happening I just think that they’re going to end up doing themselves in .
    He pays people to follow me and he also works full-time so he no longer lives next-door. He rented it to people and his family and they watch for me when I leave the house and then they call him and it’s always the same type of pick up trucks that follow me
    Yes, I get anxious and yes, I get fearful but at the same time I’ve reached a point where I have no choice but to just live my life and keep practicing in my mind that they don’t even exist. They’re just bullies and they’re very fearful and that is the Identity of my particular stalker..
    The police know about him and we’ve talked and they do not believe he is a danger to me physically, but unfortunately, they said that unless there is clear and present danger to me that I have to keep giving them license plate numbers and they all connect to him. It’s family members and then people he pays to follow me while he’s working.
    Let me tell you something when you are a highly spiritual person and you have God within you then you’re protected .
    Especially since I know that this has been going on for quite a while that it’s the same pattern, which is basically just to scare me and I never flinch .
    I wait till I get home to feel what I need to feel and then I let it go because I’m not gonna permit them into my psyche .
    I hope and pray that these laws will happen in every state. They should also be all types of laws against domestic violence as well.
    Look what happened to Gabby Petito and the police didn’t believe her at the time they pulled them over and she ended up dying .
    Very sad that these issues have to wait until enough. People are hurt for them to take it seriously and make it a criminal act.

      My whole family cyber stalks me, as well as stalking where we used to live. We finally had to move. But they still cyber stalk us, and this has been going on for over a decade. We even hired a lawyer to see what we could do to stop this. Sadly, there isn't much we can do unless there are threats, even though the constant harassment or just contacting us when we ask to not be contacted can drive anyone to feel unsafe...it's a mess.
